Chapter 160 Anticipating DNA Test, Wish Fulfilled
"Just asking casually, this little girl is adorable," Cody said.
Ambrose could hear the fondness in his tone. Usually, Cody was serious with everyone, except for Hayden, and now he seemed to like Yara too. Sure enough, old people loved children.
"Then treat her the same as Hayden, as your great-granddaughter."
Cody actually had this in mind, but he needed to know who Yara's father was, so he asked, "Well, I should at least know who her father is, right?"
At this point, Ambrose didn't want to reveal what Scarlett had been through, so he brushed past it. "No matter who her parents are, if you like her, just look after her a bit."
"What? Can't people know who this child's father is?" Cody said sarcastically.
Ambrose had mentioned before that Scarlett had a marriage of convenience, which meant Yara wasn't her ex-husband's child. If not her ex-husband's, then whose? Scarlett didn't seem like the type to fool around.
Suddenly, a thought flashed through Cody's mind. He asked in shock, "This child isn't yours, is she!"
Ambrose walked to the living room, stretched out his long legs, and sat down on the sofa, leaning back. "Yes, she's mine."
He didn't want anyone to know what Scarlett had been through. He would bear it all himself.
"No wonder this child looks just like your aunt did as a child. So she's a Boleyn family child." Cody's voice of sudden understanding reached Ambrose's ears.
Ambrose frowned slightly. Before he could think more about his aunt Dahlia Boleyn's appearance, Cody spoke again angrily, "You bastard, you got involved in someone else's marriage early on. Since you did that, you should have taken responsibility, not let the child suffer out there."
Ambrose paused for two seconds, then continued with the lie, stating a fact. "She didn't like me back then. I couldn't force her."
Cody knew his pride wouldn't let him force a woman, especially since Scarlett was a married woman.
"If she didn't like you, why did she have the child? Is it like that, Octavia from the Mitchell family, deliberately having a child to force you to give money or status?"
"Scarlett had no idea the child in her belly was mine."
Cody was getting more confused and pressed for details. Ambrose told another lie, making up a ridiculous excuse, saying he had gotten drunk and lost control. This made Cody call him a disgrace.
Ambrose didn't care about Cody's scolding, but asked the question on his mind, "Yara looks a lot like my aunt when she was little?"
"Almost identical. Of course, the child also looks like Scarlett, but part of her really resembles your aunt, especially her expressions and movements. Almost the same."
Ambrose's pupils contracted immediately. Yara looked like Dahlia? How could they look alike?
Then he remembered that Opal had once said at the hospital that Yara looked like him. At the time, he found it quite interesting and even thought about lying and saying Yara was his child, but was afraid she couldn't accept it and would be angry with him, so he didn't dare.
Now that Cody said Yara looked like Dahlia, that was unusual. After thinking for a moment, he asked.
"Do you see any resemblance between Yara and Hayden, or between her and me?"
Cody looked at the two little ones still playing in the distance and sighed, "You know what, those two little ones really do look like twins."
These words were like a stone thrown into a calm lake, instantly creating ripples. Ambrose sat bolt upright.
Twins?
Hadn't Scarlett given birth to twins? The boy from the twins had gone missing. Could that boy be Hayden?
When he took the child from Octavia, he only did a paternity test between father and son, but never verified whether Hayden and Octavia were mother and son.
If Octavia had taken the child from Brielle and claimed it was hers, no one would have suspected anything.
Ambrose suddenly stood up. "Grandpa, I have something to do now. I have to go, but you can't tell anyone about this. Keep it secret."
"I'd have to be crazy to tell people about something this embarrassing. But you, don't let it get out and disgrace the Boleyn family. What kind of Boleyn family man becomes a homewrecker? Just you, you bastard. I don't think you'll stop until you've driven me to my grave."
This time, Ambrose wasn't impatient, and even responded to Cody, "I'll stop."
Seeing his good attitude and having gained another great-granddaughter, Cody felt pleased and hung up the phone.
After Cody hung up, the two little ones, sweaty from playing, ran over. Hayden called out in his usual mature manner.
"Great-grandpa."
Cody acknowledged him, but his eyes were on Yara beside Hayden. He smiled kindly.
"Yara, rest a bit if you're tired from running. Have some water and some pastries."
Seeing Cody's kind expression, Yara grinned, showing her white baby teeth, and said very politely, "Thank you."
Seeing her good manners, Cody was even more pleased. "Yara, from now on, treat this place as home. Don't be shy. If you want to eat anything, just tell the butler. If we don't have it, he'll buy it."
Yara said thank you again in a sweet childlike voice. Cody laughed heartily, then told Kai that he would have dinner there tonight.
Cody's behavior made Hayden think. Cody really liked Yara!
"Great-grandpa, if Yara lives here with us from now on, would you mind?" Hayden tested, staring at Cody.
Cody nodded. "Of course not. Yara can live here."
Hearing this, Hayden was happy. From now on, Scarlett could live here too, and Cody wouldn't say anything.
Cody had no idea what he was planning, just looking at Yara with a smile, liking her more and more.
Ambrose hung up the phone and paced back and forth in the living room, going over this major discovery in his mind, thinking through everything. He guessed there was a ninety percent chance that Scarlett's missing son was Hayden.
Yara had a photographic memory, just like Hayden. They both inherited it from him.
Ambrose never showed emotion, no matter what happened, but this time, his heart was racing with excitement.
He rushed to the bedroom and pushed the door open.
Scarlett was still sleeping. He walked very lightly to the bedside, got on the bed, lay down beside her, put his arm around her waist, and stared at her rosy face. He felt fortunate, more fortunate than he had ever felt before.
"I've never expected anything, but at this moment, I only hope that what I'm thinking is true." He murmured this, then lowered his head and kissed her face.
Then he found a few long hairs on the bed, took them, got off the bed, and left the room.
He opened the front door. Chase, who was waiting outside, walked in. He handed over the strands of hair. "Test the long hair with Hayden's DNA, and the short one with Yara's DNA. As fast as possible."
Chase frowned. "What's this?"
"One is mine, one is Scarlett's. I suspect the twins Scarlett gave birth to are my children." Ambrose's voice was very low.
But it struck Chase like a high-frequency shock. He looked at Ambrose in disbelief. Ambrose didn't explain further. "Just do the comparison first. We'll talk when the results come out."
Chase left with the samples, and Ambrose returned to the bedroom.
