Chapter 161 Serving You
When Scarlett woke up, Ambrose was lying beside her with his arm around her. His eyes were closed, but he wasn't asleep. The moment she stirred, he opened his eyes.
"You're awake?" Ambrose's voice was low and deep.
Scarlett rubbed her eyes and asked in a hoarse voice, "What time is it?"
"Should be close to seven."
Hearing the time, Scarlett quickly pushed him away. "Why didn't you wake me?" She complained as she got up.
"I saw you were tired, wanted to let you sleep more." Ambrose sat up too, his eyes staring at her openly.
Scarlett grabbed the nightgown nearby, put it on, and got out of bed. But after just two steps, the soreness in her legs made her stop suddenly.
Ambrose, on the bed naturally noticed her condition. The corner of his lips curved up. He got out of bed, walked to her side, scooped her up, and headed to the bathroom.
"I can walk by myself." Scarlett glared at him, not wanting him to see her like this.
Ambrose looked down. Her eyes were watery, and the corners of her eyebrows still carried that post-lovemaking charm, making him swallow hard. His voice was low and tempting.
"Let me take care of you."
His husky voice had a sticky quality to it. Scarlett shivered, lifted her eyelids to glance at him, and when she caught his burning gaze, her heart skipped a beat. She shyly lowered her eyes and murmured softly.
"How dare I let the great Mr. Boleyn take care of me?"
"I'm just your dog." Ambrose willingly labeled himself with affection.
As if to prove his sincerity, he kissed her forehead.
Scarlett had never been pampered like this before. Even when Wesley treated her best, it was only in words, never much in actions. Her heart pounded.
While they were talking, Ambrose carried her into the bathroom and set her down by the sink. She quickly gathered her thoughts and looked at him with her watery eyes.
"You go out first."
He leaned one hand on the edge of the sink, gazing at her with a flirtatious posture, his thin lips holding a smile.
"Let me take care of you."
Scarlett's face turned red under his lingering gaze. She looked down to avoid it and said, trying to stay calm.
"I need to shower."
Ambrose stared straight at her. "I can take care of you while you shower too."
Time was tight, and seeing him say this, Scarlett deliberately put on a stern face. "I'm going to be late."
He looked at her pretend-angry face and chuckled softly. He leaned over, kissed the corner of her lips, then said in a husky voice, "I'll be right outside the door, ready when you need me."
With that, he slipped out of the bathroom and closed the door for her.
Scarlett breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time, she noticed he was different from usual—clingy and full of sweet affection. Before, even when he was being shameless, he was never like this, with eyes that could practically drip honey.
Was it because she said she liked him a little bit in bed?
After thinking for a while without reaching any conclusion, Scarlett stopped thinking about it. Time was pressing, she needed to shower quickly, or else she'd be late, and Briar would nag her again.
After the hot shower, most of the soreness in Scarlett's body disappeared, and her legs weren't as weak anymore. But there were several obvious kiss marks on her neck.
Ambrose was such a dog, always liking to bite people.
She'd put on some concealer later to fade the marks!
When she came out after showering, Ambrose was holding his phone and about to approach her. Worried he'd pick her up again, Scarlett said first, "I can walk, no need to take care of me."
He grinned and didn't bother her, just said, "Don't rush, I'll drive you there in a bit."
Scarlett walked to the closet, took out an outfit, and ran back to the bathroom to change. When she came out, she looked bright and beautiful. Ambrose stared at her without blinking.
The black V-neck long dress had a mysterious yet elegant effect that drew people's attention.
His narrow eyes squinted slightly. "Isn't this dress a bit too attention-grabbing?"
Scarlett was standing by the vanity, tilting her head to put on earrings. Hearing him say this, she looked down at herself and asked doubtfully, "Really?"
This black dress shouldn't be that attention-grabbing, should it?
Ambrose walked to the closet and picked out a more conservative dress, dark green.
"Try this one, it should be better."
Scarlett looked at the dress, questioning, "This one?"
"I think this one would be more low-key than what you're wearing." He said.
Scarlett had just finished putting on her earrings. She took the dress into the bathroom, and five minutes later, she came out. The dark green also made her skin look delicate, a completely different effect from the black.
But it elevated her temperament even more. Because of her good figure, combined with her rosy complexion, she looked absolutely beautiful.
Men all liked this kind of woman who's pure and beautiful without knowing it.
Ambrose felt a bit regretful. He should have just let her wear that black dress.
"Looking at it this way, maybe the black one was better after all." His voice was a bit low.
Scarlett was quite helpless.
She shot him a look. Seeing there was no time left, she decided not to change and said, "I'll just wear this one!"
Ambrose thought of Finnian being there and felt uneasy, so he said, "I promise you won't be late."
Scarlett refused to change, no matter what. Annoyed, she pushed him away. "Ambrose, you're so annoying."
He fell silent, watching helplessly as she grabbed her bag and walked toward the door. He touched his nose and followed.
Scarlett hadn't bought Briar's gift yet, so they went to the mall again. Ambrose drove her to the jewelry floor of the mall.
Scarlett bought a gold bracelet, better to give gold than anything else, as it holds its value.
With all this fuss, by the time they arrived at Culinary Haven, it was already eight o'clock. All along the way, Briar had been asking her where she was.
As soon as the car stopped, Scarlett hurried out. Ambrose handed the car to the valet and followed quickly.
"Are you eating here too?" Scarlett looked up at him in the elevator.
"Having dinner with Felix and the others." Ambrose said.
Scarlett didn't ask more. When the elevator stopped, she stepped out, and he got out too, not forgetting to remind her, "After dinner, I'll pick you up, and we'll go back together."
"We'll see then, don't know when it'll end." Scarlett said as she walked.
At the door of the private room, Ambrose had to stop, watching helplessly as Scarlett walked in. Through the crack in the door, he saw Finnian looking at Scarlett as she entered.
Ambrose's tongue swept across his teeth.
Scarlett smiled and greeted everyone, then turned to close the door. She saw Ambrose still standing at the door. Her hand paused for two seconds, but in the end, she still closed the door.
Ambrose bit his teeth, turned and walked in another direction. When he reached his private room, Ruben shouted loudly.
"Ambrose, we've all been waiting for you."
Ambrose sat down expressionlessly and looked at Ruben.
"How well do you know Briar?"
Ruben squinted. "Briar? You mean that fake heiress Briar Reed from the Reed family?"
Ambrose nodded. Ruben chuckled lightly. "Not well, only had drinks together once at Midnight Oasis Bar."
"She's having a birthday party here tonight. Find a way to get me into attend this party."
Ruben was shocked. When did Ambrose become desperate enough to crash someone else's party?
"Ms. Mellon is there." Felix was reminded from the side.
Only then did Ruben understand—it was still because of Scarlett!
