Chapter 249 Homicide

Chapter 249 Homicide

The woman glanced at the crushed Jade and nodded heavily.

"It's her."

Sophia couldn't quite believe it. Although she had suspected Jade might be the leader of this organization, she had just experienced Jade's hypnosis this afternoon. How could she suddenly be dead?

And she had many questions she wanted to ask.

"Can we move this bronze statue?" Sophia asked.

James said, "If we want to move it, it would probably take all of us together."

"It's best not to move the crime scene," Samuel stepped forward. "Because we can't be sure if she was murdered, it's best to preserve the scene as it is and wait for the police to decide."

James glanced at Samuel, "There's something off about you."

Samuel raised his head and asked, "What's off about me?"

James replied, "Your brain is malfunctioning."

Samuel said in a deep voice, "No, it's not. I just think that if we move it improperly, it could alter the state of the injuries on the body, which would lead to errors in the post-mortem examination."

James thought for a moment, "That makes sense, but why are you here?"

Samuel replied, "I want to find out why my friend committed suicide."

James pointed to the body on the ground, "Do you think she can answer you?"

Samuel nodded, "I think it's possible because she has always been the mastermind. She has caused the deaths of many people. She is very dangerous."

Sophia was a bit surprised, "So you knew all along?"

Samuel raised his head, "Did you think I was here doing nothing? I said I would investigate the case on my own, so I made some discoveries."

"I didn't expect you to trace it back here, so everything you did before was just an act?" Sophia asked, looking at Samuel.

Samuel replied proudly, "No, I just wanted to experience the life of a detective."

Sophia recognized something familiar in Samuel, but he felt a bit different. Samuel expressed, "But I came here to find out why my friend committed suicide, and that's genuine."

Sophia asked curiously, "Why are you so interested in her?"

Samuel let out a deep sigh, "Because she was planning to date me, to be my girlfriend. I was looking forward to it, but unfortunately, she died, and my wish was unfulfilled. I have a bit of an obsession."

Sophia found it hard to believe, 'Would Vivian choose him as a boyfriend?'

She had met Vivian and struck up a conversation with her. Vivian was stunning, had an amazing figure, and her emotions were remarkably steady. She seemed like an exceptional person. Would she date an almost bald man?

Of course, that didn't mean Samuel wasn't good enough; it was just that she sensed there was more to Vivian than met the eye. Maybe she had some agenda in getting close to Samuel."Where's that assistant?" Sophia looked around and found the assistant was gone.

Suddenly, someone exclaimed, "She ran away."

Sophia looked towards the door and saw that she prying at the door. James quickly ran over and soon caught her.

When the scarf on her head was removed, Sophia was stunned.

"Why is it you, Molly?"

At that moment, Molly's eyes were red, and she kept struggling, "Damn it, she deserves to die."

Sophia stared at her and remarked, "She's lost control of her emotions."

James knocked her out with a punch, and Molly fell to the ground.

Sophia asked, "Do you think she could be the killer?"

James thought for a moment, "It's possible, but she seems to have some issues."

Sophia thought for a moment, "Yeah, she tends to be emotionally unpredictable."

Sophia asked the woman beside her, "Where is the abandoned room where the statue was placed?"

The woman pointed ahead, "Over there, there's an abandoned house."

With the woman leading the way, they arrived at the door of the closed house. After James kicked the door open, they could see the mess inside, with a very large statue at the back.

The statue looked a bit like the Statue of Liberty. It was about 6.5 feet tall and should be quite heavy; otherwise, it wouldn't have crushed someone to death.

Sophia asked curiously, "Who was the deceased Violet back then, and what was her relationship with Jade?"

The woman beside her replied, "She was once Jade's assistant and was raised by Jade."

"I heard she went missing later, and when they found her, she was crushed to death here?" Sophia asked.

"Yes," the woman said heavily. "No one knows why she was hiding here at the time. This statue is too heavy; once it falls, it would crush someone to death."

"So, was it you who set the statue upright afterward?" Sophia probed.

The woman replied, "I don't know. It should have been Jade who had someone do it."

Sophia walked up and gently tapped the statue with her hand. It made a clear sound. She tried to shake the statue and found it was indeed very heavy. She couldn't move it by herself.

"Has anyone calculated its weight?" Sophia asked.

The woman replied, "No, they haven't."

Sophia took a quick look and then walked outside. She checked other places but didn't find anyone else.

She turned and asked, "Everyone should be here, right?"

The woman checked and said, "There should only be these people. We come according to the schedule, only ten people a day. Today, there's just one extra person."

She glanced at Samuel as she spoke.

Samuel explained, "I paid, and she agreed to see me."

Sophia looked at the dead Jade and felt something was strange.

She asked Samuel, "How long do you think she's been dead?"

Samuel replied, "No more than half an hour."

Sophia expressed surprise, "That's strange. Half an hour ago, we were all in the front, not far from her. There was only a curtain between us. Why didn't we hear any sound when she was killed?"

Samuel raised his head. "How would I know?"

Sophia found this very bizarre. Logically, if this thing weighed 1000 pounds, it would make a huge noise when it fell. Why did they feel this place was very quiet?

That was not normal.

And such a heavy object, the bolts fixing it at the bottom wouldn't be of poor quality. If the quality was too bad, there would be a risk of it falling, and if it crushed someone, it would be a serious accident.

What was even more incomprehensible was why it fell right on Jade's head?

If one strange thing could be understood, it was odd when many strange events happened together.

It didn't make sense and raised suspicion.

Sophia thought for a moment and remarked, "I think this was a premeditated murder."
