Chapter 248 Is She Jade?

Chapter 248 Is She Jade?

A gust of cold wind howled through, and the woman was startled by what James said.

"What are you talking about? I don't understand." The woman turned her head in panic.

James took a sharp drag on his cigarette, "I shouldn't be mistaken. Back then, it was you who told me that the room was always locked."

The woman lowered her head. "You must have mistaken me for someone else."

James sneered, "Whether I'm mistaken or not, we'll find out at the police station."

"No, please don't." The woman hurriedly confessed, "I'll tell you whatever you want to know."

James thought for a moment, "Was that girl back then murdered?"

The woman trembled, "I really don't know about that."

"Alright, let me ask a simpler question." James looked at the tall church. "Who is the leader of your organization?"

The woman was shocked, "I can't say that."

James grabbed her, "Then I'll have to take you to the police station."

"No, I'll tell you." The woman hesitated and murmured, "Her name is Jade Marie."

Despite being mentally prepared, James was still somewhat taken aback to hear this name. It turned out that the one controlling this place was indeed Jade, who was skilled in hypnosis.

James curiously asked, "What kind of organization is this?"

The woman replied, "An organization that takes pleasure in helping people."

"How do you help people?" James probed.

The woman said, "Our lord uses mental therapy to fulfill the wishes of those who join."

James found it a bit far-fetched. Everyone's wishes were different, how could they be so easily fulfilled?

This was their method of control.

Samuel must have been controlled by them through this brainwashing technique.

Jade must have her agenda. She controls these people either to make them her followers and enjoy their worship or to take their money.

James continued to ask, "How does she perform hypnosis?"

The woman shook her head, "I'm not sure, but she's very powerful. As long as she says a few words to someone, they get hypnotized. She's like a god."

James was a bit skeptical about this. He never believed in such things.

It was just a trick to attract attention, like magic. There must be something they couldn't detect, and they believed it to be true.

At that moment, Sophia, who was in the church, was getting impatient.

Samuel couldn't help but ask, "When will the lord arrive? I want to know why my friend jumped to her death."

The woman in front replied, "Please be patient. She is already here, waiting for you ahead. She already knows your requests, but according to the rules, she cannot solve problems for free."

The woman pointed to the donation box in front, "Please follow the rules."

Samuel stepped forward, took out a wad of money, and put it in the box.

The woman nodded and pointed behind her, "Please follow me."

Samuel followed the woman, walking forward.

Just as the woman pulled back the curtain in front, she suddenly screamed.

Sophia looked behind the curtain and saw a woman kneeling on the ground in a candle-lit space. A huge bronze statue had fallen on her head, smashing it to pieces, with blood flowing all over the place.

Under the dim light, the scene was horrifying.

Sophia quickly ran over.

From the scene, it was clear that this place was at the back of the church. Everyone was in a large hall divided into front and back parts by a large curtain.

They had been in the front part, and this was the back part.

From the still-flowing blood of the victim, it was clear she hadn't been dead for long.

Sophia knew the urgent task was not to examine the scene but to immediately seal off the area. She quickly ran to the door and blocked it.

Then she called Alan, "There's a problem. I need your help now."

Alan sighed, "Why is it always at night? What's the matter?"

Sophia replied seriously, "There's been a murder."

"What!" Alan was shocked, "Where?"

Sophia told him the location and called James over.

James brought the woman to the door, locked it after entering, and asked her, "Is there any other exit here?"

The woman shook her head, "No."

James nodded, looked at Sophia, and pointed forward, "Is the crime scene up ahead?"

Sophia turned around, "Follow me. Let's see what's going on and determine whether it's a murder or an accident."

They arrived at the scene. Before they could examine it, the woman beside them suddenly covered her mouth in surprise, "How is this possible?"

Sophia was puzzled, "What's impossible?"

The woman pointed at the deceased, "Her death is too similar to Violet's. Both were crushed by a statue."

Sophia looked at the victim's body. The huge bronze statue had crushed her head, making it a gruesome sight.

The bronze statue was a strange flower.

Sophia hadn't expected this flower to be made into such a large sculpture, measuring 20 feet in length.

Looking at the victim's nearly crushed head, she said, "This bronze must be heavy."

The woman beside her chimed in, "1000 pounds."

Sophia looked at the ground in front, "It was originally fixed there, right?"

The woman nodded, "Yes, it was fixed with screws. I asked the engineer before, and he said it's built to last."

Sophia spread her hands, "But it fell and crushed her."

The woman remarked, "I suspect someone tampered with it."

Sophia looked at the surrounding crowd and asked, "Who usually has access to this place?"

Soon, a person was pushed out of the crowd. It was a bright-eyed girl with a scarf wrapped around her face.

"She's the assistant, responsible for the preparations, cleaning, and maintenance here, and she is also Jade's apprentice," the woman beside her said.

"Jade?" Sophia's eyes moved, "What's her relationship with Jade? Why mention her specifically?"

The woman pointed at the dead body, "Because that's her."

"You mean this is Jade?" Sophia was a bit surprised. She looked at the deceased in disbelief and took a deep breath. "So, she was the leader of this organization?"
