Chapter 250 Not My Daughter

Chapter 250 Not My Daughter

As soon as the words were spoken, everyone instantly panicked.

"Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?"

"Everyone present is here. Before this, no one went over there. Who had the chance to kill her?"

"Everyone has an alibi. There's no opportunity to act. It can't be that someone used telekinesis to make the bronze statue fall on her, right?"

Sophia hadn't figured out the murderer's method either.

She had looked around the environment. There were no roller skates or ropes or anything like that. To move a 1000-pound object without making any noise, it would have to be lowered bit by bit.

But how was it done?

There simply weren't the conditions for it here.

Sophia fell into deep thought. She walked up to the bronze statue and tried to lift it, but it was very heavy, and she couldn't move it at all.

Such a heavy object would indeed require several people working together.

But they had searched all the space and possible hiding places here and found nothing.

This was too bizarre.

Sophia grabbed her hair, feeling a bit at a loss for the first time.

So, where did the problem lie?

She thought for a moment and asked, "Who purchased this thing?"

The woman next to her replied, "Assistant Molly."

Sophia glanced at the unconscious Molly, wondering if she might know what was going on.

But Molly seemed a bit off.

In her hypnotic state, she had run alone into the room, and no one knew what she had whispered in Sophia's ear.

Although Sophia woke up later, Molly had already finished asking.

This had always made Sophia uneasy.

Sophia asked, "Is there any way to wake her up?"

The woman next to her said, "Splash cold water."

Sophia curiously asked, "Is there water here?"

The woman replied, "There's a handwashing basin over there. Jade would wash her hands there every time."

Led by the woman, Sophia finally saw a small round porcelain basin with a barely noticeable spout. The handwashing basin was designed to look like the floor, making it hard to spot in the dim light.

She collected some water and splashed it on Molly's face.

Molly quickly woke up.

Sophia asked, "Do you know when the bronze statue fell?"

Molly shook her head, "I don't know. I was at the door greeting guests and checking their passes."

Sophia asked, "When was the last time you saw Jade?"

Molly, groggy, replied, "About an hour ago. I saw her go behind the curtain to wash her hands."

Sophia continued, "Was the bronze statue intact at that time?"

Molly nodded, "It was intact."

Sophia thought for a moment, "Did you see anyone else?"

Molly shook her head again, "No, everyone hadn't arrived yet. Even if they had, they were waiting outside."

"Are you sure no one came in?" Sophia probed.

Molly was very certain, "No one came in because I checked everyone afterward. There were ten people in total. I remember it very clearly."

"That's strange." Sophia found it very hard to understand. She couldn't help but think, 'Could it really have been an accident? But it didn't look like it at all.'

When the statue fell, it would definitely make a sound. Even if people outside couldn't hear it, Jade should have heard it. Wouldn't she have dodged after hearing the sound?

Would she just sit there, waiting for the giant bronze statue to crush her?

It didn't make sense and defied logic.

"James, do you think I'm off with my guess?" Sophia began to doubt her hypothesis.

"It should be correct." James looked at the scene behind him. "I have the same thought as you, but we just haven't figured out what's going on yet."

Samuel chimed in seriously, "This case is very strange. It's the first time I've encountered something like this. As a coroner, you shouldn't expect much from me. In this situation, I can at most determine the time of death."

Sophia replied, "I didn't have much hope for you anyway."

Samuel felt a bit hurt. "You're always so good at this, so just solve the case."

Sophia rubbed her temples and squatted down, starting to carefully recall all her experiences, including everything about the scene.

When they first came in, not everyone was there. They were all waiting outside, and at that time, Jade was already behind the curtain. But Sophia hadn't heard any sound from her, and no one knew what Jade was doing at that time.

At the same time, they hadn't heard the sound of the bronze statue falling.

And this was the most bizarre part.

Sophia had carefully examined the body. The front of the bronze statue was petals, but these petals were like spikes, deeply embedded in Jade's head.

For severe brain injuries, death would occur within minutes. In her case, it was definitely severe. Samuel had previously estimated that her time of death was within half an hour, and this estimate was accurate.

Even Sophia could see Jade's blood continuously dripping, forming a pool of blood. This indicated she had died not long ago.

But at that time, everyone was on the other side, including Molly.

Later, they checked all possible hiding places and found no one. If the killer had murdered her, where would the killer go?

But if it wasn't the killer, why was there no sound when the statue fell? Could the statue be alive?

This was too bizarre.

It was simply unfathomable.

Sophia had been investigating for so long and had just locked onto Jade. She was so close to figuring out the connection between the first two cases, but then Jade died.

Everything happened too suddenly.

"Are you really sure the victim is Jade?" Sophia questioned skeptically.

"It's definitely her. We know her quite well, whether it's her appearance, figure, or clothing style. Even her aura is remarkable because she had a significant impact on us. Some people would even die for her."

Sophia found it unbelievable. These people were quite fanatical.

Jade was indeed extraordinary.

Sophia was out of leads when her phone suddenly rang.

She didn't expect the call to be from Vivian's father.

As soon as Sophia answered, she heard the old man say, "I went to the police station to identify the body. I don't think she's my daughter."
