Chapter 247: Did You Lie to Me?

The moment she saw the flower, Sophia's gaze was instantly drawn to it.

Although she didn't know the woman, the flower was very familiar to her.

Several recent cases were almost all related to these flowers.

Sophia knew there must be an organization behind this, and the woman who appeared now might be a member of that organization.

Sophia couldn't help but think of Vivian.

What position did Vivian hold in this organization?

After Vivian's death, Sophia thought for a long time and suddenly felt that Vivian might not have been challenging her back then. It was very likely that she had been trying to send a signal all along.

'Could it be possible that, whether it was about sending a message to Josh or the vampire model in the coffee bag, she wanted me to discover some clues. Maybe she knew who the killer was, but was unable to speak out. So she had to use this method.'

Maybe she had been wrong all along and shouldn't have targeted Vivian.

The person behind the organization might be the real culprit.

She was the one who killed everyone.

Thinking of this, Sophia suddenly felt enlightened and asked James, "What was the situation with the deceased in the church back then? Can you tell me about it?"

James didn't answer but kept staring at the woman eating at the door.

Sophia poked him, "Don't keep staring; it will make her suspect."

James slowly turned his gaze. "You want to know about that case back then?"

Sophia nodded, "I'm just curious, who killed her?"

James thought for a moment and expressed, "According to our judgment, she died in an accident because she was in a closed room with no signs of anyone else entering."

Sophia asked curiously, "Then how did she die?"

James replied, "In that abandoned room, there was a large statue that collapsed and crushed her. She was small and got trapped underneath. Since the room was abandoned, many people didn't know what the statue originally looked like, so they didn't notice."

"So you found her after you went in?" Sophia asked curiously.

James nodded.

Sophia was surprised, "But according to you, those people searched and didn't find her, right?"

James nodded again.

Sophia asked, "Then how did you determine that no one had entered the room before?"

James replied, "We asked the six people who searched. They mentioned the room was always locked from the inside. About six hours later, they pried the door open, but they didn't find the victim inside."

"When we arrived and inspected the room, we found the victim under the statue. According to the autopsy, the victim died four hours before they first found the room locked." He added.

Sophia smiled, "So you think no one went in afterward?"

James replied, "There were always two people guarding outside, and they didn't see anyone go in."

Sophia probed, "What if those two went in? And what if the six of them lied? What if it was a play they put on together?"

James didn't speak. He looked outside, his expression gradually becoming serious.

He muttered, "She told me back then that those women were trustworthy and that she could vouch for them."

Sophia shook her head helplessly. "You trust Ava too much."

James fell silent. Mentioning Ava always made him very sad. Sophia saw this and changed the subject. "What was the victim's name? Why was she in the church?"

James thought for a moment, "I never asked her name, but I heard them say it was Violet Cooper. As for why she was in the church, it was because the place was rented by an organization for activities and office space, and someone had to be on duty every day."

Sophia frowned. "So that organization still exists?"

James guessed, "Probably. I haven't paid much attention to it."

Sophia muttered, "I don't know why, but I feel like this isn't as simple as it seems."

James remarked, "That was a long time ago."

"But it was only two years ago." Sophia touched her chin, thinking. She felt there was some connection, but couldn't figure out what it was.

At that moment, James patted her, "That woman left."

Sophia looked at her watch; it was almost 8 PM.

She quickly ate something and then quietly followed.

Outside, it was already dark. The woman walked quickly and soon arrived at the church door. The church door was not fully open, only a crack.

The woman shook the pattern on her chest and walked in.

Sophia watched from a distance and expressed, "It seems we can't get in without that outfit."

At that moment, another woman in custom clothes and a scarf walked over. Sophia stopped her and asked, "What are you doing?"

The woman ignored her. Sophia was unapologetic and took out handcuffs from James, cuffing the woman, "We suspect you are involved in illegal activities. Do you have anything to say? Let's head to the police station to report this."

"You can't arrest me without a reason. I haven't done anything wrong. I haven't broken the law," the woman argued.

Sophia didn't show any courtesy, taking off the woman's scarf and clothes and putting them on herself. Then she walked towards the church.

Sophia said to James before she left, "Make sure to watch her."

The woman glanced at James and said nothing more.

Sophia walked to the church door, shook the clothes, and was allowed in without obstruction.

The church was very dark, with about dozens of seats in front.

At that moment, many people were already seated, or rather, kneeling on mats, quietly closing their eyes as if praying.

Sophia looked around and saw Samuel in the front row.

She quietly sat behind Samuel and remained silent, waiting for them to speak, as she didn't know the situation.

Meanwhile, outside, James slowly took out a cigarette and lit it. He took a slow puff, looked at the woman in front of him, and asked, "Did you lie to me back then?"
