Chapter 244
"Where's Flora?"
Ember looked around but didn't see Flora anywhere.
As if responding to Ember's words, the sounds from inside the room grew louder again.
Ember's face instantly turned pale.
Jason kindly reminded her, "Your dear daughter is in the room right now."
"No... that's impossible..."
Before Ember could say more, Jason cut her off.
He faced the shocked yet excited reporters with a perfectly measured smile, "Ladies and gentlemen, the star of your story is right inside."
At those words, the reporters became like hungry wolves catching the scent of blood.
Ignoring Ember's attempts to stop them, they all rushed in together!
"Wait! Stop right there!"
Ember raised her voice, trying to rush over and block the reporters.
Jason took a long stride, his tall, solid frame blocking the doorway, completely cutting off Ember's path.
"This is the room I booked. Has the Miller family really fallen so far that they can't even afford a room and have to mooch off others?"
I silently gave Jason a thumbs up in my mind.
That mouth of his is really something!
If Jason casually licked his own lips when he had nothing better to do, would he poison himself?
Ember's expression was beyond ugly.
She gritted her teeth, but couldn't hide the terror in her eyes.
"What do you want?"
"I didn't call these people here, so asking me doesn't seem appropriate, does it?"
Jason pulled me into his arms. Though his face wore a smile, his eyes grew colder inch by inch.
"Let me guess—why exactly did you bring all these reporters here today?"
Ember's body swayed.
I looked at Ember calmly.
I had no good impression of the Miller family people, so naturally I couldn't be bothered to say much to her.
But Ember's gaze landed on me.
"Sue, say something, Sue!"
Ember spoke rapidly, her expression showing barely concealed nervousness and distress, "No matter what, Flora is still your sister. How can you bear to just watch her reputation be destroyed? Do you have no heart?"
I raised an eyebrow, "If I remember correctly, not long ago you were letting Flora point at my nose and call me a bastard. How did we suddenly become family? I didn't realize you had two faces like this!"
A flash of malice crossed Ember's eyes before she quickly hid it, "Look at what you're saying. Sure, we had a little conflict before, but it was just a small disagreement between family members. These little things blow over in a few days. Besides, we didn't really do anything back then. Do you really need to be this cruel to Flora now? You're a woman—you should know how important reputation is to a woman! Those reporters rushing in there are trying to destroy Flora!"
"Right now, if you just say the word, Jason... no, Mr. Cooper! Mr. Cooper will definitely let Flora go! Sue, please say something!"
Ember grew more agitated as she spoke.
By the end, she practically wanted to rush up and grab my shoulders.
Jason blocked her path in front of me.
I looked at her calmly, asking with some confusion, "Mrs. Miller, do you think I'm really stupid or something?"
Ember's expression froze, "What?"
"You Miller family people have come to bother me over and over again. When you looked down on me before, you kept calling me an illegitimate child, a bastard nobody wanted."
As Ember's face grew paler and paler, I continued word by word, "Flora is also interesting. After I clearly told her that Jason and I were married, she still chose to come to our room trying to seduce Jason. According to what you just said, Mrs. Miller, Flora was shamelessly trying to seduce her brother-in-law?"
I tilted my head, looking at Ember seriously, "Do you think I have some special fetish where I'd help the mistress who's trying to seduce my husband?"
Jason laughed softly, delivering the perfect finishing blow, "Don't worry, honey. You're the only one in my heart. Women like Flora—I feel sick just looking at her, can't eat for three days."
That's a bit much.
Ember's face turned completely ashen.
She staggered back two steps, shaking her head forcefully.
"No... that's impossible..."
As if suddenly remembering of something, she clutched her handbag tightly and ran toward the elevator in her high heels.
I asked, "What's she doing?"
Jason said, "Getting backup, I guess."
I thought seriously for a moment, then asked curiously, "What backup can she get now?"
The reporters had been in there for quite a while—they'd already taken all the photos they needed.
Jason said, "No idea."
As soon as he finished speaking, the elevator dinged again.
Several bodyguards in black walked over quickly, followed by two workers in white coats.
I looked at Jason in surprise, "What's this?"
"A bad woman had designs on me. I was so scared, I specially called bodyguards to protect me."
Jason leaned on me with exaggerated fragility.
I patted his shoulder without sympathy, "Can you talk normally?"
The bodyguards exchanged glances, all seeing the surprise in each other's eyes.
But they wisely kept their mouths shut.
I asked, "Why are there doctors when the bodyguards are here?"
Jason explained, "Weren't you curious about why Flora didn't even notice several people coming in? You'll have your answer soon."
My eyes widened, "You mean she originally wanted to drug you too?"
Jason raised an eyebrow, "Who knows?"
He looked at the people who'd arrived, "Go on in."
Perhaps the drug had worn off.
Flora's previously suggestive, emotional sounds were gone, replaced by terrified screaming.
"Who are you? Why are you here?!"
Jason thoughtfully covered my ears and led me a bit farther away.
The people Jason arranged moved quickly.
Five minutes later, the doctor came out with a blood sample.
"Mr. Cooper, we can have results in half an hour at the earliest."
The reporters Flora had called to photograph her intimate moments with Jason also came out.
Just as they were about to leave, they were stopped by someone rushing over.
"I'd like to see who dares to leave!"
Tyler stormed out of the elevator with a dark expression.
His sharp gaze swept over the reporters, his tone icy, "If even one photo or video from today gets out, I'll make sure you can't survive in all of Seaside City!"
The reporters looked at each other, no one daring to speak for a moment.
Jason sneered, "Mr. Miller sure talks big. I underestimated the Miller family—didn't realize the Miller family still had the energy to do this kind of thing?"
Tyler's expression changed. When he saw Jason, he immediately forced out a smile.
"Jason, didn't expect you to be here too. Today's incident must be a misunderstanding. We're all family—making such a scene just gives outsiders something to laugh about, doesn't it?"
I immediately objected, "Hold on! I never acknowledged you as my father. How are we family?"
"Sue..."
Before Tyler could finish, Flora ran out disheveled, screaming in breakdown, "I don't want to live anymore!"
