Chapter 402 Selfishness, Self-interest
After listening to Freya talk about the scam, Elizabeth was speechless and felt like mocking her.
Freya was someone who liked people to pamper her and go along with her wishes. Getting scammed was what she deserved.
Freya looked at Elizabeth nervously, waiting for her response.
"Elizabeth, I just want you to inherit the shares and assets."
"You can sell the shares and donate all the assets to charity." Elizabeth calmly gave her advice.
Hearing Elizabeth's response, Freya was very disappointed. "Do you really hate the Nightingale family's things that much?"
Elizabeth's gaze fell on Freya's face, and she answered seriously, "I don't hate the Nightingale family's things. I just don't want to have any connection with you."
Elizabeth's words were blunt and hurtful.
Freya gave a bitter laugh, her voice carrying helplessness and sadness. "Elizabeth, by then, I'll be dead. Even if you wanted to have any connection with me, it won't be possible. Can you let me die with dignity to meet your father?"
The office fell quiet for a moment.
Elizabeth suddenly laughed softly. "Freya, stop acting. You're a very selfish person. Let me guess - the reason you want me to inherit the shares and assets, could it be that you want me to fight with Herschel and Juniper?"
Freya's expression changed slightly, her eyes showing a hint of helplessness and desolation. "How can you think that? I just, I just hope these things don't fall into the wrong hands."
"Then you can sell them," Elizabeth's expression showed no emotion. "Freya, whatever your reason is, I'm not interested. Please don't come to Seraphina Enterprises again."
Elizabeth's coldness finally tore through Freya's sad expression.
Freya stared at Elizabeth with cold eyes. "Ungrateful daughter! I risked my life to give birth to you, and now you won't even inherit the assets!"
Elizabeth wasn't surprised at all by Freya's sudden change of face. Elizabeth smiled faintly. "All your life, you've only loved yourself. Selfish, self-serving, and self-righteous."
Freya left the office.
When Seraphina returned to the office, she saw a flash of sadness in Elizabeth's expression.
"Mommy."
"Seraphina, get back to work. I'm fine," Elizabeth smiled. "Your dad is still waiting for me outside. I'm leaving."
Seraphina nodded.
Elizabeth stood up and gently pinched Seraphina's cheek. "Don't worry, I'm fine. Work hard."
With that, Elizabeth turned and walked out of the office.
Timothy was waiting for Elizabeth outside the office. When he saw her come out, he walked over and held her hand.
Elizabeth and Timothy left the company together.
The two sat in the car, and it drove away.
Elizabeth leaned against Timothy and told him about what Freya had come to say.
After listening, Timothy said lightly, "Today I'll let you eat Mexican food."
Half an hour later, Timothy and Elizabeth stood at the entrance of a Mexican restaurant.
Elizabeth hugged Timothy's arm tightly and threatened with a sideways glance, "You already promised me I could eat it."
Timothy said, "The non-spicy dishes, right?"
Elizabeth snorted coldly. "You dare go back on your word? You still have a lot left of those six boxes of condoms you bought."
"Okay, let's go in," Timothy helplessly held Elizabeth's fingers that were pinching his waist. "Stop pinching."
Elizabeth's lips curved up. "Let's go in."
Timothy's health condition didn't allow him to eat Mexican food.
Elizabeth ordered a table full of vegetarian dishes by herself.
She ate until she was sweating all over. It felt great.
Timothy helped Elizabeth with the dishes. He pulled out a tissue to wipe her flushed lips. "Do you remember the first time we ate Mexican food together?"
Elizabeth nodded while eating. "I remember. When I was worth ten billion dollars, I treated you to Mexican food."
Their eyes met and they both smiled.
Timothy said with a laugh, "Good thing you still remember how cheap you were."
Worth ten billion dollars, and she only treated him to Mexican food that cost less than three hundred dollars.
Elizabeth suddenly stopped chewing. She looked at Grace and Stefan outside the Mexican restaurant. "Timothy, turn around and look outside."
Timothy turned to look outside and saw Stefan opening the car door for Grace, who was wearing a white dress.
After Stefan's car drove away, Elizabeth and Timothy both looked away.
Timothy smiled faintly. "I told you he's very gentlemanly."
Elizabeth lost her appetite to continue eating. She put down her utensils. "Very gentlemanly indeed."
This was also a sign of good upbringing.
At that moment, in the car.
Grace thanked Stefan awkwardly. "Mr. Hensley, thank you so much for coming to pick me up."
Stefan replied politely but distantly that it was no trouble.
Grace was moving today, but her left hand wasn't convenient to use.
Kennedy found out about Grace's move and had Stefan go help.
Grace and Stefan didn't say anything more.
Grace looked out the window. She could sense Stefan's distance. If she wanted to create an ambiguous situation with him, it seemed quite difficult.
The car soon arrived at her new place.
Grace got out of the car, and Stefan got out to open the trunk and take out her suitcase.
They went upstairs. Grace opened the door, and Stefan placed the luggage at the entrance.
He didn't go inside but stood at the door. "Ms. Martinez, I'll be going now."
Grace looked at the suitcase, then at Stefan who had already left, saying nothing.
To avoid suspicion, Stefan didn't even help her bring the luggage inside.
Grace bit her lip. She pushed the luggage inside with one hand, closed the door, and took out her phone to call Jane to report on today's situation.
"How did it go?" Jane's voice carried obvious impatience and anticipation.
Grace paused and said, "Stefan just put my luggage at the door and left. He has absolutely no interest in me and won't give me any opportunity."
Jane's voice on the other end carried some mockery. "How useless. Aren't you supposed to be good at making men feel sorry for you?"
Hearing Jane's mocking tone, Grace's heart tightened. "Ms. Robinson, he really has no interest in me. Maybe we should try a different approach..."
Jane laughed coldly and interrupted Grace. "Different approach? If it really doesn't work, just drug him. If you don't make any progress within a week, use this method. It's simpler."
Grace's heart sank.
If she really drugged him, Stefan would definitely get revenge on her.
Grace was a smart woman. She wouldn't take the step of drugging him.
Stefan appeared gentle and refined on the surface, but she trusted her instincts - Stefan was not someone to mess with.
Jane on the other end snorted coldly and hung up.
After hanging up, Jane turned to complain to Sloane. "Sloane, I found a woman to seduce Stefan, and there's still been no progress."
Hearing Jane's complaint, Sloane looked up at Jane and smiled faintly to comfort her. "Stefan isn't someone who's easily swayed. Jane, you should stop wasting your energy."
Jane pouted with some dissatisfaction. "Sloane, don't you think Seraphina's luck is too good? Why does she have everything? She's so fat, yet she still has a boyfriend who likes her so much."
"I just don't believe it. Anyway, I'm going to make trouble for Seraphina. Who told her to be Elizabeth's daughter."
