Chapter 403: Getting Married on September 2
"Sloane, did you find anything on that guy Brandon?"
"No, they've got him well protected." Sloane said with mixed feelings.
Elizabeth was living a happy life.
"Nothing?" Jane frowned. "I'm meeting Wilmer at a bar tonight. I'll ask him then."
Sloane nodded slightly, but still reminded her, "Jane, whatever you want to ask Wilmer, you'd better be careful. Wilmer and Stefan are friends. If Wilmer senses you have other intentions, he might turn around and trick you instead."
Jane sneered, "Don't worry, Sloane. I know."
She texted Wilmer first.
[Want to meet tonight? Sunset Bar, eight o'clock]
Wilmer didn't expect Jane would ask him out for drinks.
He replied with a simple [OK]
Wilmer put down his phone and looked across at Stefan, who was discussing details with the wedding planner.
He sighed inwardly. Although Wilmer knew Stefan and Seraphina had a stable relationship, he really didn't expect they'd already reached the point of preparing for marriage.
After the wedding planning meeting ended and the planner left, Wilmer teased, "Stefan, didn't expect you to move so fast, tying yourself down so soon."
Stefan smiled warmly at this, "When you meet the right person, settling down early is a good thing."
Wilmer clasped his hands together in admiration and laughed, "Impressive. Ms. Robinson asked me out for drinks tonight, so I'm heading out."
When Stefan heard Jane's name, his brow furrowed slightly, but he couldn't interfere with other people's friendships.
He just had a feeling that the high-and-mighty Jane had ulterior motives in approaching Wilmer.
Sunset Bar had private rooms.
To make it easier to get information, Jane booked a private room today.
Wilmer arrived at the room before eight.
Not long after he got there, Jane arrived too.
After sitting down, she ordered drinks.
Jane ordered the most expensive drinks at the bar. Wilmer groaned inwardly—he hadn't gotten his paycheck yet this month. If he'd known, he wouldn't have agreed to come drinking.
"What made you want to ask me out for drinks today?" Wilmer smiled and asked casually.
"Life's been too boring. Of course I'm finding someone to drink with." Jane made up an excuse too.
"True, you're not like me—I still have to work for a living."
After they'd had a few drinks, while Jane was still thinking about how to steer the conversation toward Brandon, she heard Wilmer say, "By the way, Stefan and Seraphina are getting married."
Wilmer brought this up to make Jane stop thinking about Stefan—they had no chance together.
Hearing suddenly that Seraphina and Stefan were getting married, Jane's expression almost changed, but she quickly masked her emotions and showed a disappointed look. "They're getting married so soon? When?"
Wilmer nodded and took a sip of his drink. "Yeah, they're already planning the wedding. It's set for September 2nd."
"So soon?" Jane's lips curved into a faint smile as she pretended to be strong. "Congratulations to them. I guess I can finally give up. Let's drink till we drop tonight."
Wilmer drank quite a bit with Jane, though Jane drank less.
When Jane felt the timing was right, she asked casually, "I'm curious, why do Seraphina and her brother have different last names? Are they from different fathers?"
Wilmer was already a bit drunk, though not completely—he could still answer questions. "They're real siblings, full brother and sister. Seraphina's mom is the one in charge of Seraphina Enterprises."
Jane picked up her glass, a cold smile playing at her lips as she took a small sip. "Which kindergarten does Brandon go to? I have a relative who's also looking for a kindergarten."
Wilmer shook his head. "Don't know."
Jane was a bit disappointed by this answer. They continued drinking.
Jane put down her glass. "I really can't understand why any man would like Seraphina's body type. Don't you men all like women with good figures?"
The drunk Wilmer smiled. He said in broken sentences, "Let me tell you, Stefan doesn't really like Seraphina's type. He's only doing this because, because..."
"Because what?" Jane thought Wilmer was talking nonsense—how could he marry her if he didn't like her? She scoffed, "Stefan and Seraphina are getting married, and you're saying he doesn't like her?"
"It's true, really doesn't like her." Wilmer was slurring his words now.
Jane rolled her eyes in disgust.
Looking at Wilmer, who was completely drunk, her expression showed impatience.
She'd wanted to get some useful information out of him, but instead he was just rambling drunkenly, nothing valuable at all.
All she'd learned was that Seraphina and Stefan were getting married on September 2nd.
Since Wilmer was drunk, she called in a bodyguard and had him take Wilmer to a hotel.
The bodyguard nodded, helped the unsteady Wilmer up, and took him out of the bar.
The next day, noon.
Jane went to the Robinson Group again.
When Sloane heard the news that Seraphina and Stefan were getting married, she was also surprised. "Getting married on September 2nd? So soon?"
Jane nodded glumly.
Sloane's eyes flickered as she smiled lightly. "Honestly, when Stefan was working as an assistant, I thought he was quite capable and wanted to introduce him to you. You two would have looked perfect together."
Hearing this, Jane laughed a few times. "Sloane, I didn't know you had such thoughts. Stefan's build and looks do match my taste, but his personality is really annoying."
Sloane's gaze shifted slightly as she said in a relaxed tone, "Actually, there can still be variables before the wedding. Even if they get married, there might still be chances to cause trouble."
Jane nodded listlessly. "I know. Tommy said you two are trying for a baby now?"
"Yes," Sloane stared at her computer screen and chuckled. "Just saw some unbelievable news—a younger sister slept with her older sister's boyfriend, the sister caught them in the act, and the two sisters got into a street fight."
"There's all kinds of news in this world." After Jane sneered, she suddenly became thoughtful.
If she could get Stefan into bed, wouldn't Seraphina feel even more pain?
In Jane's view, sex was very casual—finding someone to satisfy needs, as long as they met her standards.
Thinking of this, Jane picked up her purse and stood up. "Sloane, I have something to do. I'm leaving."
Sloane sat in her chair, watching Jane's departing figure, a flash of complex emotion in her eyes.
Sloane, Tommy, and Jane had grown up together—there were still feelings from all those years.
"Jane, don't blame me. If you're going to blame anyone, blame Elizabeth and the others."
