Chapter 392: What Are You Hiding From?
It seems Demetrius really is head over heels for Adelaide.
Fortunately, Demetrius had no idea that Seraphina's mind was already playing out an entire drama series about coercion.
He looked down, his tone cold and detached as he said something that made people want to jump off a building, "What are you, some kind of goddess? Worth my time to threaten the Fairfax family?"
"I just don't want to be a fool funding your Fairfax family. How does that become threatening the Fairfax family? You think way too highly of yourself. In my eyes, there's been nothing between us for a long time."
His string of words was truly laced with cold mockery.
Adelaide trembled all over from his words. She glared at him through gritted teeth, "Are you really this heartless? Even if there's nothing between us anymore, you shouldn't be so ruthless!"
Seraphina touched her own arm. So this is what men like?
She perked up her ears to keep eavesdropping.
Demetrius rarely frowned, "What heartless? We never had any feelings to speak of. It was you who begged me to save the Fairfax family in the first place. What we had was a transaction, understand?"
He liked following his life plan, and Adelaide breaking the agreement had already messed up his schedule!
Wasn't marriage just like doing business to him?
His OCD self was already preparing to find the next marriage candidate, and this idiot Adelaide was still here wasting his time.
Seraphina covered her stomach, almost dying of laughter. What a rigid Demetrius.
Maybe it was because Demetrius's harsh words were too much for Adelaide to handle. This time when Demetrius was leaving, she didn't dare stop him.
When Demetrius passed by the corner where she was hiding, Seraphina instinctively shrank her neck. She couldn't shrink her body, so she just tried to shrink her neck.
After eavesdropping, she wanted to reduce her presence.
But Demetrius suddenly stopped. He turned his head to glance at her and said in a cold, robotic tone, "Why are you hiding?"
Seraphina smiled awkwardly.
Demetrius said nothing more and left directly.
Adelaide, still standing there, also heard what Demetrius said.
Someone was eavesdropping on their conversation?
Adelaide turned and walked to the corner, her eyes already locked on Seraphina.
She looked Seraphina up and down, a flash of coldness in her eyes, her tone somewhat mocking, "So there are people shameless enough to eavesdrop on others' conversations. How ill-mannered."
She was about to leave after her sarcastic remark.
"Stop!" Seraphina called out. She walked up to Adelaide and smiled, "You two were standing in the middle of a public walkway discussing private matters - weren't you just lacking an audience? I was quite satisfied watching your shameless performance just now. Thanks."
Seeing Seraphina's arrogant manner, Adelaide's face instantly turned ashen. Just as she was about to explode, she was interrupted by the restaurant manager who hurried over.
The manager brought two security guards with him. He directed them, "Mr. Kramer instructed us to escort this troublemaking lady out."
The manager's finger was pointing at Adelaide.
Adelaide's face looked even worse.
Being kicked out was quite embarrassing. Demetrius was truly ruthless, so cold. She was right to break off the engagement!
Adelaide gave Seraphina a cold glare and left the restaurant first.
When Demetrius came out of the restroom and passed by Seraphina, he heard her following him and asking, "Mr. Kramer, are you full?"
"Yes." Demetrius replied simply.
The two returned to the private room, and both Demetrius and Seraphina tacitly treated the recent incident as if it hadn't happened.
After lunch, the group returned to Seraphina Enterprises and began detailed discussions on each clause of the contract.
Seraphina quickly entered work mode, fully focused on ensuring these terms would maximize the company's interests.
And Demetrius was also proposing terms more favorable to the Kramer Group.
As time passed, the contract terms were gradually finalized.
Finally, Demetrius signed and gently closed the contract, nodding slightly, "I look forward to good results from this cooperation."
Seraphina also smiled in response, "I hope our cooperation will bring a win-win situation."
The two quickly shook hands and quickly separated.
When it was time to leave work in the evening, Stefan came to pick up Seraphina, "Seraphina, you seem very happy today?"
"Yes, successful proposal this morning, successful contract signing this afternoon - I'd say these are good things. My parents will definitely be happy." Seraphina smiled, "I won't have dinner with you tonight. I want to go home and celebrate with my family."
Stefan was quite shocked.
He couldn't help but laugh, "Can I go home with you to celebrate?"
Seraphina nodded, "Let me call home first."
After Seraphina called Elizabeth and mentioned bringing Stefan home for dinner tonight.
Stefan was truly being accepted.
Elizabeth received the call. Hearing that Seraphina wanted to bring Stefan home for dinner together, Elizabeth smiled, "Alright, then let Stefan come along."
Elizabeth hung up the phone and first called to tell the chef to prepare a few more dishes.
After Elizabeth hung up, Timothy asked casually, "So Seraphina has made up her mind?"
Elizabeth nodded, "Probably, otherwise she wouldn't bring him home for dinner."
Timothy and Elizabeth held hands, their ten fingers interlocking.
Elizabeth sighed, "Time really flies. In the blink of an eye, Seraphina has grown up."
Timothy's eyes smiled as he kissed her slender fingers, "There's still four-year-old Brandon who hasn't grown up."
Brandon had been sitting on the mat playing by himself. Hearing Timothy call his name, he quickly turned to look.
Brandon's eyes sparkled as he touched his little bald head, "Dad, I've already grown up!"
Timothy nodded very perfunctorily, "I know you've already grown up."
Brandon was still just a little kid.
Around six o'clock, Seraphina walked through the door with Stefan.
Elizabeth and Timothy were both waiting in the living room. Seeing them enter, Elizabeth smiled, "Stefan, welcome."
Stefan smiled and nodded, saying politely, "Mrs. Robinson, Mr. Robinson, sorry to intrude."
Stefan breathed a sigh of relief inside. It seemed that Elizabeth and Timothy were magnanimous enough not to hold Kennedy's actions against him.
However, Stefan still bowed seriously to Elizabeth and Timothy to apologize, "About what my mother did last time, I'm truly sorry. I've already explained things to her, and she'll come to apologize in a couple of days."
Timothy's expression was neutral and he said nothing. As parents, they could be magnanimous for Seraphina's sake, but Kennedy, who did wrong, still needed to apologize.
Elizabeth smiled faintly, her tone serious, "Stefan, I don't want there to be a next time. No matter what grievances there are, I don't want Seraphina to encounter them."
In life, who doesn't face grievances at times?
Stefan maintained his bowing posture, listening to Elizabeth's words. He could feel the love Elizabeth had for Seraphina behind this seriousness.
He straightened up, looking at Elizabeth and Timothy with determined eyes, solemnly promising, "Mrs. Robinson, Mr. Robinson, please rest assured, I will definitely love and care for Seraphina wholeheartedly and not let her suffer any grievances."
Hearing these words, Elizabeth's expression softened a bit. She nodded, "I hope you can do that. Sit down and let's chat."
This was her way of showing acceptance.
And Stefan was truly respectful in front of Timothy.
Facing his future wife's father Timothy, Stefan felt a lot of pressure.
