Chapter 313: So What If They Have Money
"Elizabeth? Is something wrong?" Timothy touched Elizabeth's forehead worriedly.
"I'm fine," Elizabeth snapped back to reality, trying to keep her voice calm. As she ate, she kept thinking about whether Seraphina had enough to eat. "Has that man said anything about where Seraphina is?"
Timothy shook his head, his brow furrowed.
Elizabeth put down her utensils in disappointment, staring at the food on the table as a wave of helplessness washed over her.
Seeing she'd only eaten a few bites, Timothy didn't try to persuade her. He quietly put down his utensils too.
They sat in silence for a while.
Elizabeth leaned back against the sofa, tilting her head back, gently pinching the bridge of her nose.
"There's no news from Mabel either." Elizabeth's voice was filled with disappointment and helplessness.
She had no idea where Mabel had run off to.
Timothy moved closer to Elizabeth and held her hand. "Alfonso is looking for her too."
Elizabeth nodded slightly, her eyes unfocused. "Mr. Robinson, I'm really so worried. Seraphina is so little, I don't know how she's doing right now."
What good was having money if they couldn't even find Seraphina?
Elizabeth's lips curved into a bitter smile.
When she was little, she was dumped at an orphanage, living in constant fear of being violated by old men, afraid of having her organs harvested. Would her Seraphina have to suffer the same unfair fate?
Elizabeth's eyes showed deep pain.
Only those who had experienced hell firsthand knew that kind of unforgettable fear.
Seeing Elizabeth's bitter smile, Timothy pulled her into his arms with heartache.
Elizabeth closed her eyes. "I'm really scared. If, if... no, that's not right, there won't be any 'ifs.' We will definitely find Seraphina."
Elizabeth only allowed herself to be vulnerable during these brief rest periods. Once the rest was over, she'd return to her calm, professional attitude.
She only let her guard down completely in front of Timothy.
Timothy carried the leftover food out of the office. He stopped when he passed Jacob's desk.
He looked at Jacob and said quietly, "Mr. Grant, please bring Elizabeth some snacks in an hour."
Jacob nodded. "Sure, Mr. Robinson. I'll bring them in on time."
Timothy smiled. "Thanks."
Jacob watched Timothy's retreating figure, suddenly realizing: so this was the kind of man Elizabeth liked.
After leaving Seraphina Enterprises, Timothy didn't go straight home. Instead, he had the driver take him to the suburbs.
Max was already waiting for Timothy downstairs.
For the past few days, Timothy had been coming here every afternoon to interrogate Rolf.
"I told you, your Seraphina is dead."
Rolf kept repeating the same line. He didn't know how much longer he could hold out, but he knew that if he revealed Seraphina's whereabouts, he'd die even faster.
Timothy put on boxing gloves and turned his head slightly to look coldly at Rolf.
Timothy signaled Max to give Rolf a pair of boxing gloves too.
Rolf looked at the gloves, hesitated for a moment, but still took them and put them on.
"Since you won't tell the truth, let's chat in a different way." Timothy said coldly.
Rolf looked at Timothy, a flash of fear in his eyes, but he forced himself to stay calm, gritting his teeth. "I already told you, your daughter is dead."
Timothy didn't waste more words. He swung his fist directly, punching Rolf in the stomach.
Rolf doubled over in pain, his face instantly turning ugly.
Timothy didn't stop, continuing to throw punch after punch, each one carrying his rage.
Max stood not far away watching, his gaze falling on the freshly re-inked black mamba tattoo on Timothy's arm.
Timothy seemed particularly angry today. He straightened up.
Rolf's stomach hurt so much he could barely breathe, but he still clenched his teeth, refusing to talk. He tried to fight back against Timothy.
Time passed bit by bit. Rolf's face grew worse and worse, the pain in his body making it almost impossible to think.
Timothy stopped.
He calmly removed his gloves, threw them at Rolf, and turned to leave.
Jake really knew how to pick his men. Rolf was one tough guy.

Jacob placed the snacks on the desk. "Chairwoman Penrose, these are the snacks Mr. Robinson asked me to bring you."
Elizabeth looked at the plate of snacks. "Thank you."
Jacob quietly left the office.
Golden sunlight streamed through the glass window into Elizabeth's office. She held up the plate of snacks toward the sky outside the window with one hand, and picked up her phone to open the camera with the other.
The sunlight through the glass made the snacks look especially beautiful against the backdrop of blue sky and white clouds.
She took the photo and sent it to Timothy: [Mr. Robinson, thank you]
Elizabeth picked up a piece of snack and took a small bite, a faint smile on her lips.
The sweet flavor of the snack spread through her mouth.
Just then, there was a gentle knock on the office door.
Elizabeth put down the snack and took a sip of tea.
Robbie walked into the office and said steadily, "Chairwoman Penrose, last night Wren found out that Hugo was actually arrested because he was working for Maddox. She went to Maddox's house and made a scene. Wren even scratched Maddox's face."
A flash of coldness passed through Elizabeth's eyes. "He got what he deserved. How are things with Mr. Hayes?"
Robbie smiled slightly. "Lately, whenever Mr. Hayes has time, he goes to the Sherman family to find Maddox."
She leaned back in her chair, pointing at the proposals on the desk. "Take these two proposals and have them rewrite them. The company has stabilized internally now. I want proposals that aren't conservative and have some innovation."
Robbie responded respectfully, "Understood, Chairwoman Penrose."

At five in the afternoon, Elizabeth told Jacob to drive to General Hospital first.
Since Elizabeth had already arranged for Sarah's grandfather Owen to be at General Hospital, she should go check on him.
Sarah stood up in surprise when she saw Elizabeth. "Ms. Penrose."
Elizabeth's gaze was warm. "I came to see your grandfather."
Sarah was really touched. Elizabeth walked to the bedside and greeted Owen.
"Grandpa, this is Ms. Penrose. She arranged the hospital for us. If it weren't for her help, we'd still be looking for a hospital." Sarah introduced her.
Owen's eyes were filled with gratitude. "Thank you."
"You're welcome. If you need anything, contact me anytime," Elizabeth said gently. "I'll do my best to help."
Elizabeth didn't stay at the hospital long. She visited Owen, said a few words, then left the room.
At the door, Elizabeth ran into Delilah. They nodded at each other as a greeting.
Delilah walked into the room carrying a boxed meal and handed it to Sarah, asking curiously, "Why did Ms. Penrose come?"
Sarah took the meal and replied with a smile, "She came to see my grandfather, to check on his condition. She's really a good person."
Delilah nodded, then asked casually, "Ms. Penrose is a good person. Actually, I'm curious why she's so good to you?"
Last time, because of the company gossip, they were both ready to resign.
Unexpectedly, on their last day, Sarah suddenly said she was staying, and the company even gave them promotions and raises.
Delilah had asked Sarah about it and learned that Elizabeth had helped them.
Now that they could suddenly stay with promotions and raises, their colleagues knew they had backing, and the gossip gradually stopped.
Hearing Delilah's question, Sarah smiled.
Sarah guessed it might be related to Elizabeth's daughter Seraphina, but she couldn't casually tell Delilah about this, since it involved Timothy's privacy.
Sarah just replied to Delilah, "I'm not sure. Maybe Ms. Penrose feels my name is somehow connected to her?"
Hearing this, Delilah nodded. She could tell Sarah didn't want to tell her the truth.
Delilah felt a bit uncomfortable, but she understood Sarah might have her reasons for not saying.
