Chapter 176 Jake's Wife
"Elizabeth, give me the child."
Elizabeth held Seraphina tighter, her whole body trembling.
Watching her one-month-old Seraphina being taken away right before her eyes, Elizabeth's heart was breaking.
"No."
"Elizabeth, you'd better cooperate, or I'll just give you a shot and you can sleep for a while."
Jake said these cruel words with an expressionless face.
Elizabeth's eyelashes trembled slightly. She looked down at Seraphina sucking her thumb in her arms, her eyes reddening.
She was like a fallen leaf in autumn, desolate.
Jake walked closer to Elizabeth and looked at her. "I promise you, I will absolutely take good care of Seraphina."
Jake's words didn't comfort Elizabeth, nor did they put her mind at ease.
"Give me the child."
He pried Elizabeth's fingers open one by one. For Seraphina's sake, Elizabeth didn't dare hold on too tight.
Jake handed Seraphina to a woman.
The woman carried Seraphina out of the room.
The door closed.
The moment Seraphina disappeared from sight.
The composure Elizabeth had been forcing in front of Jake instantly collapsed.
Her knees went weak and she was about to fall to the ground.
But Jake caught her.
"Don't touch me!" Elizabeth pushed Jake's hand away and supported herself on the bed.
Elizabeth's face was completely drained of color.
Jake clearly sensed Elizabeth's hatred and disgust toward him.
But so what.
What needed to be done, he would still do.
"Elizabeth, I'm giving you a chance to become powerful. If you're capable enough, you can turn The Sherman Group into your own company in the future."
Crazy.
Jake was truly crazy.
"When that day comes, if you appear as my wife, I wonder what Timothy's reaction will be?"
Elizabeth interrupted Jake. She asked coldly, "When do I start learning?"
Jake smiled, the corners of his mouth curving slightly. "I'm glad you can recover your composure so quickly. Very good. Tomorrow I'll send you to a place where someone will be in charge of teaching you."
Elizabeth didn't ask what place it was, just told him to get lost.
"Rest well." His gaze fell on Elizabeth's face, then he turned and left the room.
He had said he would make the Robinson family's life hell.
Elizabeth folded all of Seraphina's clothes neatly and packed them carefully in her suitcase.
The next day.
Elizabeth followed Jake onto a yacht with her suitcase.
The yacht sailed out to sea. After sailing for a whole night, it stopped in front of a small island.
Jake watched as Elizabeth got off the boat.
Five years later.
Since Jake sent Elizabeth to this small island five years ago and left, he hadn't come back here again.
However, when Elizabeth video-called Seraphina every month, Jake also sat beside them and saw Elizabeth.
Elizabeth changed a lot every year.
Elizabeth wore a sleeveless black tank top with torn casual pants as she boarded the yacht.
The only thing in short supply on the island these past few years was clothing.
Elizabeth looked left and right.
Jake knew Elizabeth was looking for Seraphina. "I didn't bring her."
Elizabeth's expression was clearly disappointed.
Her dear Seraphina wasn't here. Elizabeth hadn't held her daughter Seraphina in five years, only able to see her through video calls each time.
"What do you want me to achieve before you'll give Seraphina back to me?"
Elizabeth didn't waste words with Jake.
"You can return to Border Ridge City tomorrow. After you bankrupt the Robinson family, I'll consider letting you two reunite."
Elizabeth didn't completely trust Jake's words.
Just as Jake finished speaking, his phone rang.
Seraphina was video-calling him.
"Jake, where's my mommy?"
A sweet, baby-like voice came through the phone.
Seraphina's chubby little hand held up the phone, her whole head pressed against the camera, determined to find her mommy Elizabeth.
"Seraphina, I'm here!" Elizabeth forcibly took the phone from Jake's hand, lovingly blowing several long-distance kisses to cute Seraphina.
"I'm kissing Seraphina's forehead."
"Seraphina is kissing mommy's forehead."
Seraphina and Elizabeth couldn't actually touch each other, only able to blow kisses to each other over the phone during their monthly video calls.
Jake, who had been pushed aside, froze for a moment.
"Mommy, your clothes have holes. Wait for me." Seraphina put the phone on the sofa and ran off.
Soon Seraphina came running back.
Seraphina excitedly shared her saved allowance. "Mommy, I'll give you all my money to buy clothes. Is it enough? If not, I'll keep saving."
She blinked her eyes as she asked.
"Okay."
At this moment, Elizabeth suddenly felt that everything she was about to do in Border Ridge City was all to bring Seraphina back to her side.
The plane landed at Border Ridge City airport.
Elizabeth wore a trench coat as she walked through the VIP passage.
Eugene from the Sherman family compared her photo, then quickly walked over to meet Elizabeth. "Mrs. Sherman, I'm the Sherman family's butler."
Elizabeth had heard Jake talk about the Sherman family members.
She smiled slightly. "Eugene."
Eugene took her luggage, and the Sherman family's bodyguards escorted Elizabeth out of the airport.
Elizabeth's stunning figure among the bodyguards was very eye-catching.
"Elizabeth?"
Emma stared at Elizabeth who had already walked far away. Emma was at the airport today to pick up Freya, who was returning from treatment abroad.
She never expected to see Elizabeth.
Five years had passed. Why hadn't Jake killed Elizabeth! And he even let Elizabeth return to Border Ridge City!
