Chapter 175 Carry Away
Border Ridge City, private hospital.
Timothy sat in his wheelchair, looking coldly at Manuel's assistant Sam.
Sam awkwardly tugged at the corner of his mouth. He didn't really want to come either, but he had no choice - the Robinson Group needed someone.
He continued trying to reason, "Mr. Timothy Robinson, Mr. Manuel Robinson has really fallen ill. The Robinson Group needs you to come back and manage it now."
"He's fallen ill? Well, that's rare." Timothy sneered.
Sam pretended not to hear Timothy's disrespectful remark.
Timothy said coldly, "I'm not going. He loves Tommy and Jane so much, he can let them manage the company."
Sam wanted to wipe his sweat when he heard this.
This was simply unbelievable - babies not even a year old? How could they manage a company!
Joe saw Sam out, and the two tried to get information from each other.
After Joe sent Sam away, he returned to the hospital room. "Our people didn't find any trace of Ms. Penrose today either. Also, Matthew is waiting outside wanting to see you."
Still no news about Elizabeth's whereabouts.
Timothy was in a terrible mood. "Tell Matthew to get lost. Emma's doing great at the mental hospital. She's made lots of friends there. That place suits her perfectly."
"Yes."
Joe left the room and went downstairs to the hospital. He passed on Timothy's message to Matthew.
Matthew tiredly rubbed his temples.
"Mr. Sutter, this time your Sutter family has crossed the line."
These past few months, Timothy had been ruthlessly attacking both the Johnson family's business and the Sutter family's business at the same time.
Timothy's series of revenge moves had already caught the attention of relevant government departments.
The Johnson Group and TechStrong's businesses covered a wide range. Timothy's attacks, regardless of losses, had caused many employees to lose their jobs in a short time. The relevant departments had already talked to Timothy.
Timothy had to back off for now, which gave the Johnson family and the Sutter family some breathing room temporarily.
At this moment, at the mental hospital.
Emma was being held and comforted by a woman in expensive clothes, who frowned slightly. "Emma, we came too late. You've suffered during this time."
Emma had been tormented by mental patients during this period and forcibly medicated by doctors. Her mind was in a daze.
Timothy was really heartless.
"How dare the Robinson family treat you like this! A perfectly fine person, sent to a mental hospital! I'll have Russell talk to the Robinson family properly! Such a big thing happened, why didn't you call me!"
The woman holding Emma was Freya Stewart, wife of the Nightingale family's head Russell Nightingale. She was genuinely worried about Emma, her face showing concern.
Freya's health wasn't good. She went abroad for treatment every year.
Three years ago, Freya was rushing to confirm whether they had found her daughter. She didn't have anyone with her at the time, and when her heart condition flared up, she collapsed on the roadside. It was Emma who saved her life.
Emma said softly and weakly, "Ms. Stewart, your own health isn't good. I didn't want to bother you."
Russell glanced at Emma. She was considerate.
"Come on, come home with me."
Freya looked at Russell unhappily. "It's all your fault. I already told you before to look after Emma at the Robinson family."
"Yes, yes, yes, it's all my fault. This isn't the place to talk. Let's go home first and have the family doctor check Emma." Russell coaxed Freya gently.
Emma lowered her eyes and squinted.
When Freya and Russell were taking Emma away, the doctor in charge of watching Emma tried to stop them but was restrained by the Nightingale family's bodyguards.
When Freya and Russell weren't paying attention, Emma's eyes flashed coldly as she glanced at the doctor who had always forced medication down her throat.
Someday, she would make this doctor experience being forcibly medicated too.
"Emma, come on, go home with Freya. Leave this horrible place."
Emma held Freya's hand and walked out of the mental hospital with peace of mind.
Emma stood on the steps, squinting as she enjoyed the taste of freedom.
When Timothy received the news that Emma had already been taken away by Freya and Russell, he frowned. "When did Emma get to know Russell and his wife?"
Joe reported what he had found out to Timothy. "Apparently Emma once saved Freya."
Emma's luck was really good.
Freya and Russell had almost never attended various parties, because their two-year-old daughter had disappeared at a party, so they were very resistant to attending any kind of gathering.
After nine months of pregnancy, the baby was born.
When Elizabeth gave birth to Seraphina Penrose, it was March, the start of spring.
When Elizabeth woke up, she smelled disinfectant, and her vagina still ached faintly.
She had a natural birth that lasted a day and a night.
"You're awake. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
Jake, who had been waiting outside the delivery room yesterday, also looked exhausted.
Elizabeth wasn't moved. She looked at him and asked hoarsely, "Where's my daughter?"
"You must be hungry now. I'll have someone bring food over." Jake rubbed his temples and made a phone call.
After he hung up.
"Jake, didn't you hear my question just now? Where's my daughter? Jake, answer me!"
Elizabeth stared at Jake, feeling very uneasy. She was afraid that Jake would harm her daughter Seraphina.
"I'm deaf in my left ear, so it's normal that I can't hear." Jake poured water and went to feed it to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was very thirsty. She wouldn't punish herself by not drinking.
After Elizabeth drank the water and relieved her thirst, she continued asking about Seraphina's whereabouts.
Seraphina was the name Elizabeth had chosen for her daughter herself.
Jake pulled his chair closer to the bed and sat down, then talked about other things. "Do you know why you were caught by the organ trafficking organization last year? Because Armando cooperated with me."
Elizabeth's fingers gripped the bedsheet until they turned white.
"Armando was responsible for luring your bodyguards away, then he played the hero to save you. Unfortunately, you were rescued by him, but you weren't moved enough to pledge yourself to him."
"What are you trying to say?" Elizabeth asked coldly.
Jake smiled. "Do you know who gave the order to shoot regardless of your safety? It was Manuel. He would rather let you and the baby in your belly die than watch Timothy get killed by me trying to save you."
Elizabeth knew Jake was trying to drive a wedge between them.
Elizabeth deliberately said coldly, "So what? That's human nature. I'm not a saint. I hate Manuel too, but if one day my daughter might lose her life trying to save some man, I would kill that man first too."
"But no matter what, I'll never forgive Manuel for the rest of my life. Seraphina will take my last name, Penrose, from now on. She has nothing to do with the Robinson family."
As soon as Elizabeth finished speaking.
Jake smiled. "Elizabeth, you can always stay so rational."
"I want to see Seraphina."
Elizabeth only wanted her Seraphina.
"After you recover, teachers will come to teach you various courses, focusing on how to manage a large company."
Jake smiled gently. "If you still want to see Seraphina, study well. After you've learned everything, go back home and manage The Sherman Group as my wife."
"Impossible!" Elizabeth hadn't expected Jake to have such a sinister plan.
"I know what you're worried about. We won't actually get a marriage certificate. I just want you to manage the Sherman family and The Sherman Group as my wife," Jake smiled warmly. "I'll take good care of Seraphina for you."
Elizabeth stared straight at Jake. "You're threatening me with Seraphina?"
"Yes, you can understand it that way. And you can't tell Timothy about our conversation today. If he finds out you're being forced to be my wife because of Seraphina, I'll be very angry. When I'm angry, Seraphina might suffer."
Elizabeth wanted to slap Jake right now.
She thought it, and she did it.
She propped herself up and raised her hand to slap Jake's face.
Jake didn't dodge and let her hit his left cheek, then offered his right cheek. "You can hit the right side too."
Elizabeth didn't hold back and slapped his right cheek too. After hitting both sides of his face, she gritted her teeth and lay back down.
"I agree, but when will you let me see Seraphina? How do I know if my daughter is doing well?"
"Don't worry about that. I'll let you video call her once a month. I'll have someone bring Seraphina over. You can stay with her this month."
Elizabeth now hated Jake to death, and also harbored resentment toward the Robinson family and Timothy.
One month's time.
For a new mother, Elizabeth's time with Seraphina was very short.
This month, Jake was sensible enough not to appear and disturb Elizabeth and Seraphina.
On the thirtieth day after Elizabeth gave birth.
Jake came. He was going to take Seraphina away.
