Chapter 162 What Use Are You
Ophelia's words were way too insulting.
But Ursa chimed in, "Girls should have self-respect and not always look for shortcuts."
Elizabeth glanced at Ursa and smiled faintly, "You're such a good person."
She looked at Ophelia, "Mrs. Sutter, please pass that message to your daughter and tell her to have some self-respect."
Ophelia glared at Elizabeth, "You..."
Armando's face also turned cold, "Mrs. Sutter, you should watch what you say."
"Mr. Johnson, you're just too much of a gentleman, actually speaking up for your ex-wife."
Ophelia smiled, "Fine, Ms. Penrose, I'm giving you friendly advice. If you won't listen, forget it." She turned to her assistant, "Let's go, we have other appointments this afternoon."
Just as Ophelia left.
Jake walked over to Elizabeth with the paid bill, smiling, "Elizabeth, all paid up, let's go."
Ophelia, who had already left, turned back and saw Timothy. Her expression changed instantly.
Her face went from pale to flushed.
Timothy actually came with Elizabeth to the hospital for her prenatal checkup!
A couple of people nearby who had been listening recognized Timothy. They had looked down on Elizabeth because of Ophelia's words.
Now seeing Timothy, they were surprised.
Looks like Elizabeth has her ways - she really knows how to win men over.
Timothy still has something going on with Elizabeth.
That Sutter family socialite is going to be pretty upset when she gets married.
Elizabeth saw Jake finally returning and gave him an annoyed look, "Why did paying take so long? Someone just called the baby in my belly a bastard!"
"Who's so blind?" Jake was shocked, then frowned, "We'll go to Border Ridge City next month to get our marriage certificate! Let's see who dares insult our child."
He put his arm around Elizabeth's shoulder, his gaze coldly sweeping over Armando.
"Elizabeth, don't be angry. Let's eat out for lunch. What do you want to eat?"
"Eat, eat, eat - I'm already full from anger," Elizabeth's temper was already bad during pregnancy, and her good mood today had been completely ruined, "At the hundred-day celebration, they'll all be waiting to see me humiliated."
Jake asked gently and carefully, "What happened while I was gone? Who upset you?"
Armando's cold gaze fell on Timothy's back as he left with his arm around Elizabeth.
Armando pressed his thin lips together, his thoughts hard to read.
Timothy already has a child with Emma, so why can Elizabeth accept Timothy?
Armando absolutely couldn't just watch them be together - there must be a way to break them up.
Armando left with a cold expression.
Elizabeth sat in the car and took out the ultrasound photo from her purse to admire it some more.
She needed to relax.
For some reason, she felt the baby was everything - the baby's father could take a backseat for now.
She glanced at Jake beside her, "Mr. Robinson, let me make this clear - I can raise this child on my own, understand?"
"Understood!"
Jake obediently shrank into his seat. He didn't dare say another word.
Elizabeth snorted coldly. She looked away and continued looking at the ultrasound photo. She couldn't quite understand what the CRL measurement on the photo meant, so she took out her phone to search.
But before she could search, Jake stretched his neck and said, "That's the crown-rump length."
Elizabeth sneered, "I didn't ask you to answer. I can look it up myself. When I need you, you're not there, and when I don't need you, you're in the way. What good are you?"
Jake fell silent.
His fault for being a busybody.
Thora had watched the whole drama unfold. She quickly took out her phone to call Beatrix and told her what had just happened.
"Your son just helped Ms. Penrose out of a tight spot."
Hearing this, Beatrix frowned in disgust. Elizabeth again - what's so good about her?
"Thanks for telling me. I'll treat you to tea another day," Beatrix smiled.
Beatrix had originally planned to invite Armando to Border Ridge City next month for Tommy and Jane's hundred-day celebration at the Robinson family.
But now Beatrix decided not to invite him.
To avoid complications.
The most upset person today was probably Ophelia. She hadn't expected Timothy to accompany Elizabeth to the hospital too.
She wondered if people would laugh at Emma.
After finishing her appointment and leaving the hospital, Ophelia got in the car and immediately called Emma.
She frowned, "Emma, Elizabeth is pregnant."
Emma was looking at the guest list for the upcoming banquet. She needed to familiarize herself with these people.
"Mom, I already knew about that."
"What? You already knew, and you... didn't find a way to make her..." Ophelia frowned, "Are you being soft-hearted?"
"Mom, I can't do that. Mr. Robinson would think I'm cruel, and there's no need right now," Emma smiled. Who knows what will happen - whether Elizabeth can even give birth is uncertain.
"Mom, how did you find out about Elizabeth's pregnancy?" Emma put down the guest list and asked.
"I ran into her at the hospital today, and Timothy went with her." Ophelia didn't dare mention much about how she had targeted Elizabeth at the hospital today.
Hearing that Timothy accompanied Elizabeth to her prenatal checkup, Emma's eyes darkened slightly. Matthew was the one who went with her.
"I made a few cutting remarks to Elizabeth, and Armando saw it. He actually stepped in to help Elizabeth. He can't still have feelings for his ex-wife, can he?"
"Armando helped Elizabeth?"
"Yes, I find it strange. Back when Armando and Elizabeth had their conflicts, there were quite a few, so why is he speaking up for her now?"
Emma was lost in thought for a moment. Armando?
Maybe she could...
"Mom, I have something to do. I'll hang up now. Remember to mention Mindy's matter to Lyric."
"Okay."
Elizabeth and Jake had lunch outside and returned home. She saw several boxes on the living room table.
She sat on the sofa, stretching out her long, straight legs, "Did you buy these? What's in the boxes?"
Jake also sat on the sofa, his narrow eyes smiling as he curved his lips, "I bought you a dress and some jewelry. When you make your entrance at the banquet, you'll be the most stunning one there."
He bent down, his slender fingers opening the boxes one by one.
"Put on this dress, wear this jewelry, and you'll be the most beautiful woman there. Elizabeth, what do you think?"
Jake held up the dress for Elizabeth to see, looking like he was waiting for praise.
Elizabeth pulled out a pillow from behind her back and threw it at Jake's arm, "Do you think I'm a fish?!"
A diamond-scaled mermaid dress.
Whoever wears it will sparkle.
