Chapter 410: Brandon Watches the Show
Majestic City, The Hensley Mansion.
Today Stefan was bringing his fiancée home, and the family had invited close friends and relatives over.
They were chatting warmly.
"The bride is a socialite from Seraphina Enterprises in Border Ridge City?" A hint of envy flashed in the relative's eyes.
The Hensley Group couldn't even compare to Seraphina Enterprises.
"Seraphina Enterprises in Border Ridge City - that's an internationally renowned big company."
"What's Stefan's fiancée's personality like?" Rosalind asked Kennedy.
Kennedy smiled and said, "She has a great personality. You all chat first, I'll go call Stefan and see where they are."
After Kennedy left, Rosalind turned to talk with a young woman - Stefan's cousin Savannah Hensley.
Savannah said in a low voice, "Ms. Rhodes has a good family background, but I heard she's a bit, well, full-figured."
Nobody's perfect - as long as her family background and personality were good, that's what mattered.
Stefan held Seraphina's hand as they walked into the living room together.
"Stefan, let go first." Seraphina felt too shy to hold hands with Stefan in front of everyone.
"Not letting go - I'm giving you courage."
Kennedy saw that Stefan and Seraphina had arrived. She smiled and walked over to hold Seraphina's hand warmly, "You're finally here. I was just about to call you."
Seraphina smiled, "Ms. Hope, hello."
The people sitting on the living room sofa were shocked when they saw Seraphina.
Stefan was so handsome - how did he end up with a girlfriend whose figure was so round?
Of course, on an occasion like this, no one would be stupid enough to say anything offensive.
Several people exchanged knowing glances, while maintaining polite and warm expressions on the surface.
Stefan stood beside Seraphina, introducing her to relatives, and Seraphina greeted them accordingly.
With Seraphina's family background, no one was dumb enough to cause trouble for her.
So meeting the relatives went smoothly today. In the evening, Stefan took Seraphina out for a walk.
"Seraphina?" Demetrius's grandmother Cordelia squinted and looked carefully - it really was the Seraphina she'd met before.
Seraphina smiled, "Ms. McDowell, hello."
Cordelia looked up at Stefan standing beside Seraphina.
Seraphina smiled, "He's my boyfriend, Stefan. Stefan, this is Mr. Kramer's grandmother, Ms. McDowell."
Cordelia sighed inwardly with regret that Seraphina was already with Stefan.
Stefan smiled and greeted Cordelia, "Ms. McDowell, hello. I'm Stefan, nice to meet you."
Cordelia looked at Seraphina and Stefan, her eyes showing some kindness, "Hello."
Since they'd run into each other, they chatted for a while.
Cordelia finally learned that Seraphina was getting married.
Cordelia smiled kindly with her blessing, "Congratulations to you both. May your days together be as sweet as sugar."
Seraphina nodded, "Thank you."
Seeing it was getting late, Cordelia smiled and waved goodbye, "Alright, you young people continue your walk. I'll head back now."
After Seraphina and Stefan saw Cordelia off, the two continued strolling along the evening streets.
They came across a flower seller by the roadside, and Stefan went to buy one for Seraphina.
Stefan looked down at her, his eyes full of tenderness.
As soon as Cordelia got home, she put on her reading glasses, took out her phone, and called Demetrius.
Demetrius was sitting in his car, rubbing his temples. When he heard his phone ring, he picked it up and looked at the caller ID - it was Cordelia.
Worried something had happened, Demetrius quickly answered, "Grandmother."
"My heart is aching, I'm dying." Cordelia clutched her chest and cried out.
A moment of silence.
Her voice was strong and loud - clearly nothing serious.
Demetrius stated the facts coldly, "You don't have heart disease."
Hearing this, Cordelia felt even more upset, "No wonder you have no luck with women - you speak so harshly. Seraphina is getting married, and my heart aches."
Demetrius remained silent.
When Cordelia didn't hear Demetrius respond, she continued on her own, "Demetrius, I saw Seraphina today. She told me she's getting married. Her fiancé is really handsome - more handsome than you."
Hearing this, Demetrius raised his eyebrows slightly, "Is that so? She's getting married?"
Cordelia said, "Yes! All the good women belong to other people."
Cordelia shook her head with regret.
Demetrius responded flatly.
What good woman - she wasn't even his type.
Cordelia felt there was no point continuing this conversation. He was too cold. She huffed stubbornly and hung up.
Demetrius was speechless.
So Cordelia had called just to mention that Seraphina was getting married.
His car happened to arrive at the hotel.
The bodyguard opened the door. Just as Demetrius got out, he heard Adelaide's cool yet somewhat resentful voice.
"Demetrius, please help the Fairfax family."
Adelaide stood ahead, looking much thinner and more haggard than she had some time ago.
Demetrius frowned slightly and walked straight ahead without looking sideways.
With bodyguards and Gavin around Demetrius, Adelaide couldn't get close to him.
Adelaide looked at Demetrius, her eyes showing a trace of despair and resentment, "Demetrius, the Fairfax family really can't hold on anymore. My parents are old and can't handle the stress - they're already in the hospital. I'm begging you, please help us."
Walking ahead, Demetrius's expression showed no sign of wavering.
Tears welled up in Adelaide's eyes as she followed him into the hotel, pleading, "Demetrius, please, I'm willing to pay any price, as long as you'll help the Fairfax family just this once."
Demetrius's cold back was frightening.
Adelaide suddenly pulled out a knife and held it against her own slender, vulnerable neck, "Do you believe me? I'll die right here tonight!"
Gavin turned back to glance at Adelaide, then looked away, "Boss, she's got a knife. She's threatening suicide."
Demetrius's gaze darkened slightly, the coldness in his eyes intensifying. He stopped and turned around.
Adelaide looked at Demetrius with tearful eyes. She really hadn't expected that just because she rejected their marriage arrangement, after the Kramer Group withdrew its investment, it would bring the Fairfax family to the brink of bankruptcy, and both her parents would fall ill.
Demetrius was extremely cold, "Adelaide, this is someone else's hotel. If you want to die, find another place. Life or death - that's your own choice."
Hearing these words, Adelaide was in disbelief. She was completely devastated.
Adelaide's body swayed slightly, but in the end she bit down hard and stubbornly raised her head, "Demetrius, you..."
Demetrius didn't continue listening. He had no interest in putting on a show for everyone in public.
He turned to leave and happened to see Brandon standing by the front desk - the hairless child.
Brandon was wearing overalls, holding a baby bottle in his hand, sucking on a pacifier, his eyes curiously watching them.
Did even little kids love to watch drama like this?
