Chapter 268 Ears Quickly Turned Red
Today Elizabeth and Eric are going to the ElizaTimo Group to meet with Dennis about server matters.
Dennis personally takes them both to see the testing of the new generation servers.
Sarah happens to be at the testing station. When she sees Dennis bringing two clients over, she stands up, greets them, then gets busy with her work again.
Dennis turns to Elizabeth and says, "Take a look at this server. This is a top-tier server equipped with high-performance, multi-core, multi-threaded processors, and large memory capacity, suitable for applications requiring massive data caching and high-speed access."
Elizabeth nods and asks, "What about security and management?"
Dennis has Sarah answer Elizabeth's question.
Sarah respectfully responds, "This model supports TPM and hardware encryption to ensure secure data transmission and storage. It has built-in advanced firewall and security protection software, and supports remote management technologies like IPMI, iLO, and DRAC."
Elizabeth nods. She glances at Sarah's name tag - their names sound somewhat similar.
A bit surprising.
After respectfully answering Elizabeth's question, Sarah continues working with her head down.
Dennis continues the tour with Elizabeth and Eric, introducing the server's various functions and technical specifications in detail.
"Look here, this is the cooling system. This server uses liquid cooling technology, which can effectively reduce the equipment's temperature and improve operating efficiency," Dennis explains, pointing to a part of the server.
Eric expresses his appreciation, "This server's performance is indeed very powerful and completely meets our needs."
After showing them around the testing area, Dennis invites Elizabeth and Eric to the conference room to discuss cooperation details.
Sarah watches them leave, her gaze falling on Elizabeth with a hint of envy - so young, yet Elizabeth already seems very accomplished.
Other colleagues from the testing department quietly come over, "Elizabeth, do you know which company those two are from?"
Sarah shakes her head, "Not sure."
If she were still Dennis's secretary, she would know the background of these two clients.
In the conference room.
Technical documents for the servers are laid out on the table.
Dennis explains the specific terms of cooperation and technical support in detail.
Elizabeth listens carefully, occasionally offering her own opinions.
All three parties reach an agreement.
Normally after reaching an agreement, they could sign the cooperation contract.
However, Dennis glances at Elizabeth and smiles, "Let's sign in a couple of days. The contract isn't ready yet, and I have something tomorrow and won't be at the company. There are many tourist attractions in Solstice - you two can look around."
He's just a bit curious about what exactly happened between Elizabeth and Timothy.
If they sign now, she'll probably head back home.
These two acted like strangers when they met at last night's banquet.
Dennis deliberately delays the signing by two days.
Just staying here two more days - Elizabeth and Eric have no objections.
With business concluded, Dennis invites Elizabeth and them to lunch.
Elizabeth never expected Dennis would invite them to eat at Timothy's place.
"Mr. Robinson," Elizabeth greets with a smile.
Timothy also smiles and nods in response, "Ms. Penrose, Eric, welcome."
His gaze turns to Dennis with a hint of warning.
Dennis touches his nose.
Joe goes to instruct the butler to prepare dishes Elizabeth likes.
Dennis tells Eric about fun places in Solstice, "St. Lawrence Cathedral has two hundred years of history. You can visit there. I'll arrange two tour guides for you."
Eric nods, "I've heard about it before and really want to see it, but never had the time."
Elizabeth looks up and sees Timothy sitting on the opposite sofa also looking at her.
During the meal, Elizabeth notices all the dishes on the table are ones she likes, and her eyes flicker slightly.
At this moment, placed in front of Timothy is just a box of vegetarian food.
"I eat vegetarian. Please help yourselves," Timothy says.
Elizabeth's gaze lingers for a few seconds on the vegetarian food in front of Timothy. She looks up at him in disbelief.
Complex emotions surge in her heart.
Timothy notices her gaze and smiles faintly.
Elizabeth composes herself.
After the meal, they all leave Timothy's house.
For a long while, Dennis doesn't hear any conversation between Timothy and Elizabeth.
Elizabeth gets into the car.
Jacob reports to Elizabeth, "Robbie called looking for you."
Elizabeth nods, "I'll contact him when we get back to the hotel."
She turns to look out the window as the car gradually moves away from where Timothy lives.
Back at the hotel room, Elizabeth immediately calls Robbie.
Robbie's steady voice comes through the phone, "Chairwoman Penrose, Maddox has been released on bail."
Elizabeth's brows furrow slightly, "So soon."
Robbie continues, "There's also something about the Nightingale family - Herschel and Juniper from the Collins family are preparing to get married."
Elizabeth pauses slightly, "Herschel and Juniper?"
But this matter doesn't really concern her much.
"Keep an eye on those people from the Sherman family. I'll need about two more days before returning to Border Ridge City."
After giving instructions, Elizabeth discusses some important company matters with Robbie before hanging up.
When she goes to shower, thinking about company matters, she accidentally slips.
Fortunately, she reacts quickly and catches herself with her hands on the floor, but her knee hits the ground, making her gasp in pain.
After the pain subsides a bit, she slowly stands up - her knee is injured.
She first puts on a bathrobe, limps out to change into a dress, then takes her phone to call Jacob.
"Mr. Grant, come over. I slipped in the bathroom." Her voice carries a trace of pain.
Jacob is organizing documents when he receives the call. Hearing Elizabeth's weak voice, he rushes to her room.
He enters the room and sees Elizabeth sitting on the sofa.
He sees her bleeding knee.
"Ms. Penrose, let me take you to the hospital."
Jacob notices Elizabeth's hair is still dripping water.
He goes to get a dry towel first.
Elizabeth doesn't let him help wipe, "I'll do it myself."
Jacob gives her the towel. After she's mostly dried off, he picks her up and strides out of the room.
Elizabeth wants to refuse being carried, but the pain in her knee prevents her from walking on her own, so she has to give in for now.
Jacob steadily carries Elizabeth and quickly walks out of the hotel, where a car is already waiting for them.
Normally, if Jacob could hold Elizabeth like this, he'd probably be blushing already.
Right now he has no time to feel shy.
At the hospital, the doctor carefully examines Elizabeth's knee, confirms there's no fracture, but advises her to avoid activity as much as possible to let her knee rest properly, and prescribes some anti-inflammatory and pain medication.
"Thank you, doctor."
The doctor has already bandaged Elizabeth's knee.
Jacob thanks him and carries Elizabeth out.
Then, he faintly smells the scent of body wash from Elizabeth's recent shower.
He realizes.
He's holding Elizabeth.
Elizabeth once again witnesses Jacob's ears, neck, and face rapidly turning red.
Elizabeth falls silent.
