Chapter 269 You Are Not in Love
In the car on the way back to the hotel from the hospital.
Elizabeth felt a bit tired.
She sent messages to Eric and Dennis, explaining that she couldn't go out tomorrow because of her injury.
Jacob walked Elizabeth back to her room. "Ms. Penrose, call me if you need anything."
Elizabeth nodded. "Okay, thanks."
Jacob turned to leave the room and happened to see Timothy standing at the door, about to knock.
Timothy nodded at Jacob and walked into the room.
Jacob really wanted to close the door and not let Timothy in, but he knew he couldn't do that.
Elizabeth was a bit surprised to see Timothy walk in. "Dennis told you?"
Timothy nodded. "Yes."
He walked over and crouched down to look at her knee. Timothy's expression was focused. The doctor had already bandaged it, so he couldn't see the wound.
He stood up, glanced at Elizabeth, then went to get pajamas for her to change into. "You can't shower with water today."
Seeing that Elizabeth didn't want to change into pajamas, he knew what she was thinking.
"Can you just wipe down today? Or should I have someone go buy a waterproof shower cover now?"
Elizabeth had slipped and fallen while showering halfway through, so she hadn't finished washing and felt really uncomfortable.
"Buy a waterproof shower cover."
Timothy called Joe to help buy a waterproof leg cover for showering.
He hung up and sat down beside her. "Elizabeth, you need to be more careful from now on. You can't be so careless."
"Okay, lesson learned this time."
Just as she finished speaking, there was a knock at the door.
Timothy went to open it.
Jacob was holding a bag. He gave Timothy a friendly smile and walked into the room. "Ms. Penrose, I had someone buy a waterproof cover in case you needed it."
Elizabeth smiled faintly. "Thank you."
Timothy reached out to take the waterproof cover and nodded at Jacob. "Thanks."
Seeing Timothy act like he was Elizabeth's husband, Jacob wanted to grind his teeth. Jacob politely excused himself.
Timothy carefully helped Elizabeth put on the waterproof cover, being extra careful to avoid touching her wound.
"There, now you can shower." Timothy stood up and bent down to carry Elizabeth to the bathroom.
He gently set Elizabeth down, letting her stand.
Elizabeth tried to stand and found that although her knee hurt, it was bearable.
Timothy rolled up his sleeves and pant legs.
He quickly helped Elizabeth wash, his movements gentle and careful, trying not to touch her wound.
"How does it feel? If it hurts to stand, tell me."
Elizabeth nodded lightly, her voice carrying a hint of relief. "It's okay, I'm fine. This waterproof cover shouldn't let water in, right?"
"It won't."
After washing, Timothy gently dried her body with a dry towel.
Then he waited for her to put on her underwear herself before helping her change into clean pajamas.
They were already very familiar with each other's bodies.
Elizabeth wasn't shy about it.
He carried her out and carefully placed her on the bed.
"Get some good rest. Once you're asleep, I'll leave."
"Okay." Elizabeth wouldn't normally go to sleep this early, but she still closed her eyes.
The room was very quiet.
Timothy stood by the bed watching Elizabeth for a while, then quietly went to sit on the sofa.
When Elizabeth woke up the next day, Timothy was already gone.
She didn't know when he left last night.
She had slept unusually well last night.
At this moment, outside Elizabeth's room.
Jacob was holding a bag of breakfast, while Joe was holding an insulated container.
The two of them—one with a bright smile, one with a refined smile.
Jacob smiled, showing the dimples in his cheeks, looking very sunny and harmless. "I've already bought breakfast for Ms. Penrose. You can take your breakfast back."
Joe adjusted his glasses with his finger and said calmly, "The food in my insulated container is suitable for injured people to recover."
Jacob slowly took a breath, maintaining his smile. "Give me the insulated container. I'll take it in to Ms. Penrose."
Joe smiled. "No need. I happen to want to go in and say hello to Ms. Penrose."
The two knocked on the door together, waiting for a response.
After a moment, Elizabeth opened the door.
"Ms. Penrose, I bought breakfast."
"Mr. Robinson, let me deliver this to you."
They spoke almost in unison.
Elizabeth looked at the two standing at the door and showed a helpless smile. "Come in."
Jacob and Joe glanced at each other and walked into the room with their respective breakfasts.
Jacob placed the bag on the table, smiling. "Ms. Penrose, this shop's breakfast is really delicious. I stood in line for a long time to buy it."
Joe opened the insulated container. Inside was steaming hot porridge with many ingredients, giving off a light, pleasant aroma. "Ms. Penrose, Mr. Robinson specially asked me to bring this. I hope you like it."
Elizabeth's mouth twitched slightly. She nodded. "Thank you both. You've worked hard."
Joe smiled in his refined way and said gently, "Ms. Penrose, if you need anything, just let me know. Please enjoy. I'll leave now."
When Jacob was about to leave as well, Elizabeth stopped him. "Mr. Grant, wait a moment."
Jacob stayed with a bright smile.
Elizabeth sat down and first scooped a spoonful of porridge to taste.
The light fragrance of the porridge and the soft texture mixed with other ingredients involuntarily eased her mood.
After eating a few bites, she said to Jacob, "Mr. Grant, if you still want to continue working by my side, put away any inappropriate thoughts."
Hearing Elizabeth's warning, Jacob's smile instantly froze on his face, and his head drooped.
Elizabeth looked up at him. Though her tone was calm, it carried an undeniable sternness. "Work is work. Personal feelings shouldn't be mixed in. I need a qualified assistant, not someone with other intentions."
Jacob looked down at his shoe tips. "Ms. Penrose, I... I understand."
Elizabeth nodded. "Good that you understand. Now go organize the materials for this afternoon's video conference."
Jacob nodded, his expression becoming serious. "I understand, Ms. Penrose. I'll do my best with my work and won't disappoint you."
He turned and left the room. After the door closed, he stood at the doorway on the verge of tears.
Elizabeth was angry.
Elizabeth looked at the closed door and continued drinking her porridge.
Through this period of contact, Jacob's work ability was quite good.
This was also why Elizabeth was willing to give him another chance to stay.
Jacob returned to his room and immediately sent a message to Robbie.
[Robbie, I'm heartbroken]
Robbie was enjoying his morning cup of coffee. When he saw Jacob's message, he struggled to swallow the coffee in his mouth.
He replied slowly, [Boy! You weren't in love, so how can you be heartbroken? I already warned you not to have any ideas about Ms. Penrose]
