Chapter 267 Back in Her Hands Again
At this moment, at the main table.
Elizabeth froze slightly when she saw Timothy, then quickly regained her composure.
Timothy chose to come tonight because he knew that once Elizabeth finished handling things here, she would return to Border Ridge City.
Who knew when they would see each other again after that.
Elizabeth turned to chat with others, a polite smile on her face.
Jacob sat beside Elizabeth, occasionally helping her decline drinks and serving her food, appearing especially attentive.
Timothy glanced at Jacob indifferently, then looked away.
Standing not far from the main table, Delilah waited for Sarah and the others to come over, eager to share what she had just learned.
Delilah lowered her voice, "I finally met the BOSS behind our company. Elizabeth, remember at the airport when I mentioned that man to you? It's him."
Sarah smiled without saying much.
"Where's the BOSS?" a colleague from the testing department asked.
"Right over there at the main table." When Delilah went to toast the vendors earlier, she happened to overhear the conversation at the main table. She quickly glanced over and caught sight of Timothy, the mysterious BOSS behind the company.
Delilah's face turned red.
The two colleagues from the testing department were very curious.
They had worked at the company for so many years but had never seen the real boss, Timothy.
They all turned to look toward the main table.
"What's he wearing?"
"The one on Dennis's left."
"So it's him."
Wasn't this the Timothy who seemed to have an intimate moment with Sarah earlier?
The atmosphere at the banquet grew livelier. The band started playing upbeat music, and many people moved to the dance floor.
Elizabeth only stayed for the first half, then excused herself to handle business matters.
As she walked out of the banquet hall, a breeze swept by and she shivered slightly.
Seeing this, Jacob took off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders. "Ms. Penrose, be careful not to catch cold."
Elizabeth said, "Thank you."
At that moment, Timothy stood not far away, watching Jacob put his jacket on Elizabeth. His brow furrowed slightly.
A twinge of jealousy rose in Timothy's heart, but he quickly calmed down.
The car arrived. Timothy watched Elizabeth get in, and only after the car drove away did he prepare to leave the banquet venue.
Just as he took a step, he suddenly saw something and stopped.
Sarah took a ring from her bag and examined it carefully. Looking at the message on her phone, a friend from the jewelry store had sent her information—this ring was estimated to be worth around ten million dollars.
This was a ring worth at least ten million dollars.
Sarah frowned, thinking she should take the ring to the police station right away.
As she was thinking, a hand reached over and quickly took the ring from her hand.
"Where did you get this ring?" Timothy stared coldly at Sarah and asked.
Sarah looked up to see Timothy's cold gaze. His eyes were so icy that she was a bit frightened. She took a step back, leaning against the wall, almost holding her breath.
Her voice was tense, "I found the ring outside Opal Moon restaurant in the west district. I was planning to take it to the police station."
Just then, Delilah and two testing colleagues came out of the restroom and happened to see Timothy, the company's boss, doing a wall slam on Sarah.
Delilah and the others exchanged glances, their minds full of speculation.
"What's the relationship between those two?" one colleague asked in a low voice.
"Could it be that kind of relationship?" another colleague guessed.
On the other side, hearing Sarah's answer, the coldness on Timothy's face eased slightly.
The wedding ring must have been dropped by Elizabeth when she went to the west district.
He said nothing more, took back the ring, and turned to leave.
Sarah watched Timothy's departing figure, still a bit shaken. His eyes had been too cold just now.
A bit scary.
Seeing that Timothy had left, Delilah and the others quickly walked over to Sarah.
Delilah put her hand on Sarah's shoulder and said with a slightly joking tone, "Sarah, you've been keeping this pretty tight from us."
Sarah looked exasperated, "What have I been keeping from you?"
Delilah said generously, "Fine, if you want to keep a low profile, go ahead."
Sarah didn't know whether to laugh or cry at Delilah's words. She quickly explained, "You've got it wrong. I have absolutely no relationship with the BOSS. Don't overthink it. I don't have the fate to be some rich man's woman."
One colleague leaned in and said suggestively, "But we just saw you two talking pretty intimately."
Another colleague said playfully, "If you don't want to admit it, fine. I'm leaving now, need to go home and rest."
Sarah fell silent.
The more she explained, the less people believed her.
Delilah raised an eyebrow, "Let's go, we're heading back too. We still have to work tomorrow."
Sarah got in the car, fastened her seatbelt, and explained once more, "The BOSS and I really don't know each other well."
Delilah drove, nodding, "Okay, okay, not well then."
Sarah said, "I'm serious."
"Fine, you're serious."
Sarah fell silent.
There was no point continuing this conversation.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth's car also pulled up at the hotel entrance.
Jacob got out to open the door for Elizabeth, and she stepped out. "Mr. Grant, thank you for tonight. Get some rest early."
Jacob's face was still flushed from the alcohol. He smiled, "Ms. Penrose, do you need any hangover medicine?"
"No need."
She hadn't drunk much.
They walked into the hotel lobby.
Elizabeth returned to her room.
The lighting in the room was soft. She sat on the sofa and let out a slow sigh.
Once she returned to Border Ridge City, it would probably be hard to see Timothy again.
Elizabeth stood up to get her pajamas, preparing to take a shower, when someone knocked on the door.
She put down the pajamas and went to look through the peephole, finding Timothy standing outside.
She opened the door.
"Come in."
Elizabeth opened the door to let Timothy in.
Timothy walked into the room and gently closed the door. The warm light fell on his deep expression.
For a moment, neither spoke, just quietly looking at each other.
Timothy broke the silence first, his voice low and gentle, "Elizabeth."
The room fell into brief silence again.
Elizabeth reached out and wrapped her arms around Timothy's waist, her cheek against his chest. "Mr. Robinson, don't worry. I've been busy with company matters this whole time. My days have been very full."
Timothy looked down, raised his hand, and stroked Elizabeth's hair with his palm. "I've been doing well in Solstice too."
"Timothy." Elizabeth finally looked up at his eyes and smiled.
Timothy slowly curved his lips and smiled too.
He picked her up and carried her into the bathroom. He set her down and took the toothbrush, squeezing out toothpaste.
Elizabeth cooperatively bared her teeth for him to brush.
After brushing her teeth, he picked up the shower head and adjusted the water temperature.
Elizabeth undressed herself, lowered her head, and let Timothy help wash her hair.
Washing hair, bathing, drying hair.
After all this was done, Timothy prepared to leave. He kissed her forehead, "Get some rest early."
Elizabeth nodded, "Good night."
He took the wedding ring from his pocket, took Elizabeth's hand, and placed it in her palm. "Don't lose it again, okay?"
The lost ring was back in her hand once more.
Elizabeth nodded, "Okay."
She walked him to the door.
Timothy looked back at her, "Elizabeth, good night."
Who knew when they would see each other again.
