Chapter 266 Don't Recognize
The next day, Jacob came knocking with breakfast.
The moment Elizabeth opened the door, Jacob noticed her eyes were full of red bloodshot veins.
"Ms. Penrose, are your eyes bothering you?" Jacob asked with concern.
"I'm fine," Elizabeth replied flatly.
Jacob handed the breakfast to Elizabeth. He planned to go find something for her eyes later.
While Elizabeth was eating breakfast, Jacob went out first.
After finishing breakfast and tidying up, they set off for the tech summit venue.
In the car, Jacob gave Elizabeth an eye mask.
"Ms. Penrose, we won't arrive at the tech summit venue that quickly. Wear this and rest a bit. According to the instructions, it can help relieve eye fatigue."
"Thank you."
Elizabeth also felt it wouldn't look good to show up at the venue with these red eyes, so she put on the eye mask and closed her eyes to rest.
They arrived at the tech summit venue.
Elizabeth returned the eye mask to Jacob. It had some effect - her eyes weren't as dry anymore.
She got out of the car and happened to run into Eric.
Standing next to him was Dennis, the chairman of the ElizaTimo Group.
Eric saw Elizabeth. "Ms. Penrose, good morning."
Elizabeth smiled in response. "Mr. Ayers, good morning."
"Ms. Penrose, this is Dennis Larson, chairman of the ElizaTimo Group," Eric introduced. "She is Elizabeth Penrose, chairman of the Sherman Group."
Elizabeth reached out to shake hands with Dennis and smiled. "The Sherman Group has now been renamed Seraphina Enterprises."
The three of them chatted as they walked into the venue.
The summit venue was decorated with a very tech-forward feel.
Various high-tech product displays and presentations filled the entire venue with a sense of the future.
The summit lasted from nine in the morning until the afternoon.
After the summit ended, Dennis extended an invitation. "Tomorrow is our company's birthday celebration. Would you two have time to attend?"
Eric agreed to go, and Elizabeth couldn't really refuse, so she could only nod.
Some companies use their founding date as an annual company birthday celebration.
On the way back to the hotel.
Elizabeth and Jacob discussed today's summit.
Jacob said, "Ms. Penrose, I think AI will have development potential in the future."
Elizabeth nodded in agreement. "It definitely has potential, but our company's current business development isn't in that area."
Jacob nodded. "In the future, if there's an opportunity, maybe the company could venture into this field."
He then asked about something else. "Ms. Penrose, you're attending the ElizaTimo Group's birthday celebration tomorrow. Do you need to prepare a dress?"
Elizabeth said, "Prepare something simple."
Jacob's ears turned slightly red, but Elizabeth didn't notice.
He would need to go buy a dress for Elizabeth later. He originally wanted to ask about sizing, opened his mouth, but decided not to ask for now.
Since he wasn't sure about the size, he'd just buy several dresses in different sizes as backups.
After they returned to the hotel, Elizabeth went to handle business matters, while Jacob rushed out to shop.
He walked into an upscale dress shop and carefully selected several dresses.
"Do you need help, sir?" a sales clerk came over and asked. "This dress you're holding is our newest style this season. There's only one."
"I'll choose myself, thank you," Jacob said politely to the clerk. He selected several dresses.
Jacob thought he was being clever by using the mannequins to try on the dresses.
Elizabeth's figure seemed roughly the same proportions as these mannequins.
After selecting the dresses, Jacob carried the shopping bags back to the hotel and knocked on Elizabeth's door.
Elizabeth opened the door and saw Jacob holding several shopping bags, looking at her with a smile.
"Thank you, Mr. Grant. You've worked hard," Elizabeth said.
Jacob walked in and set down the shopping bags. He said somewhat embarrassedly, "Ms. Penrose, I wasn't sure about your size. You'd better try them on first, and if they don't fit, I'll go exchange them."
Elizabeth picked up the dresses to look at them. She looked at three of them, then glanced at a light blue dress. "This light blue dress should work."
Jacob stood to the side, feeling relieved.
Elizabeth still went to try on the dress. She had a great figure, and wearing the light blue dress made her look even more charming.
Joe knocked on the study door and pushed it open. "Mr. Robinson, Dennis is waiting for you in the living room."
Timothy walked out of the study and went to the living room.
Seeing Timothy approach, Dennis put down his teacup. "Tomorrow is the company's birthday celebration. Do you want to go? After all these years, at least show your face once?"
"No, has there been any progress on the White Sand Beach matter?" Timothy sat down and asked about what concerned him more.
"Our team is already negotiating with the authorities," Dennis said, then mentioned something from today's tech summit.
"Eric and Ms. Penrose from Seraphina Enterprises also came to the summit this time. Their two companies are collaborating on a cloud project and plan to buy our company's servers. I invited them to attend the company's birthday celebration tomorrow too."
Joe glanced at Timothy. Elizabeth would be going - he wondered if Timothy would go.
Dennis looked at the wedding ring on Timothy's left ring finger. If Timothy hadn't come to Solstice this time, he still wouldn't know he'd gotten married. He'd specifically looked up news from Border Ridge City a few days ago.
"You really won't attend the company birthday celebration?" Dennis asked again.
The ElizaTimo Group's birthday celebration was being held at the Grand Vista Hotel.
All company employees would attend, and the company would also invite partner vendors to participate.
The banquet hall was decorated luxuriously and grandly, with crystal chandeliers shining brilliantly.
Various foods and drinks were neatly arranged on long tables.
ElizaTimo Group employees had already started arriving. They were all dressed in evening wear, with excited smiles on their faces.
Soon after, Elizabeth and Jacob appeared together at the birthday celebration venue.
She extended her hand and smiled as she shook hands with Dennis, saying softly, "Dennis, thank you for the invitation."
Dennis smiled. "Ms. Penrose, please come in."
Elizabeth and Jacob walked into the banquet hall.
Delilah patted Sarah's hand. "Look at the entrance - that couple walking in is really easy on the eyes."
Sarah looked up. Elizabeth looked very elegant in her light blue dress, while Jacob wore a sharp black suit and was also easy on the eyes. "Are they employees of our company?"
Delilah shook her head. "No, they must be partner vendors. I just saw Mr. Larson shake hands with that woman, so they can't be company colleagues."
Sarah handed her wine glass to Delilah. "I'm going to take a phone call."
She walked to a quieter corner to answer a call from home.
After the call ended, she hung up and turned around, looking down while adjusting her dress as she walked. After just two steps, she accidentally bumped into someone.
"I'm sorry." Sarah looked up to apologize.
When she saw it was Timothy she'd bumped into, she froze for a moment.
Timothy frowned and continued walking forward.
Sarah awkwardly apologized again.
Joe glanced at Sarah and followed Timothy's steps as he left.
Two female colleagues from the testing department, due to their angle, happened to see Sarah and Timothy standing very close together talking.
After Timothy left, they came over and said suggestively, "Sarah, who was that man just now?"
Sarah smiled somewhat helplessly. "I don't know him."
One colleague laughed. "It didn't look like you don't know him. Is there some secret between you two?"
Sarah couldn't do anything about them and quickly changed the subject. "Shall we go over there?"
The two colleagues exchanged a glance and smiled. "Let's go."
The company birthday celebration was also an opportunity for employees to get to know each other.
