Chapter 53 Playing with Fire

Chapter 53 Playing with Fire
Rick pulled back to look at a flushed Olivia and smirks. "I seem to recall you promised you would be my little dancer when you grew up. And here you are, already taken. Oh, what am I to do?" He smirks down at my naive little sister.

Seriously, is she that gullible? I guess I can't fix stupid! And it seems to be spreading, because I'm stupidly upset with him for all of this. And I stupidly believed him!

"I'll dump him! He isn't important like you Ricky! He's just a stupid boy. We can be together, just like you always promised!" she gushes, with dreamy eyes.

"What about me?" Ava demands, shoving my sister aside so she could be center stage of this stupid little play Rick is putting on. "Why can't I have him?"

What the hell is going on and why am I letting this play out like I'm some spectator? This is my life! I refuse to let that happen.

"OLIVIA! GET OUT OF HERE!!" I demand, stepping forward with a warning glare at my sister and evil cousin. "You both need to get the hell outta here before I do something I'm not sure I'll regert later!"

"I don't have to listen to you!" Liv snarls.

"THE HELL I CAN'T! I AM IN CHARGE UNTIL YOU HIT 18 years old, and last time I counted you are still 9 years younger than Rick!" I spat, glaring at him.

I see something burning in his eyes as he watches the display... Almost like... lust and approval. He only smirks, pulling back lazily now that he's proved his point.

"Better go, little Livy. I've got business to discuss with your sister," he chuckles, patting her on the head like a little lost puppy.

"Why can't I stay with you? I'm much more fun than that slut anyway!" she pouts, pointing an accusing finger right at me.

The second she called me that, something cold came over him. He freezes my sister with one icy stare. "Olivia, I never want to hear you say that about your sister ever again. Got it?" His voice was calm and collected, but edged with something dark.

I guess Liv got the picture because she paled and nodded her head. I swear she looks like she's about to pass out or cry like a baby. I'm not sure what would be more embarrassing. I guess having your idol talk to you like that would do something to you.

She turned and looked at me with something close to envy as she pulled Ava by the arm and left the room. I roll my eyes at her act but turn back to the man who created the whole damn problem.

Rick steps up to me, pulling me closer. "I told you. I can have anyone I want, Josie. But I've only wanted you," he whispers. "By the way. That was hot! I absolutely love seeing your dominant side."

I blink back tears. "Why did you have to do that?" I demand quietly.

"Because I want you to think deep and hard about how you would feel if you actually lost me," he speaks directly into my ear. "If I can't have you, little dancer, every damn time you see me with someone else, it's going to kill you. I'm trying to show you that you actually have feelings for me. I'm sorry it hurt. I know it hurt for years," he whispers against my skin, kissing along my neck. "I know what I did to you little dancer, and I hate myself for it."

I catch my breath as he nuzzles my neck with his face, breathing me in. "Mmm... You smell so good Josie."

"Every time you do this to me, I feel like you are playing with me. How am I supposed to trust you when any second you go and play with somebody else? What am I supposed to do, Rick?" I ask, sincerely. "I'm so confused." I admit.

"Why are you confused, baby? I have been honest with you. I've told you what I want and what I can offer you, and yet you are the one pushing me away this time," he murmurs, pressing a soft kiss to my temple.

"I... I want to be with you, Rick. And every time I think maybe... you go and pull a stunt like this. I promised James a chance, but according to you I shouldn't trust him either. So, just what the hell am I supposed to do?" I growl.

And then Ricks lips land on mine, stealing the very breath from my chest as his tongue tangles with mine. My world tilts and there is only me and Rick. Only the pressure of his hands holding me in place next to him. Only our heart beats beating rapidly and our heated breaths against our lips.

"I just need one chance, Josie. One chance to prove to you what you mean to me."

One chance? That's all he's asking. But if I give it to him and he fails, where does that leave me?
