Chapter 207 Family Dynamic

Chapter 207 Family Dynamic
Trent's POV

I'm still not happy about the way that Jeff guy is flirting with my girl, but Charlie is right. He makes an awesome cake, so I'll let it go for now.

He does seem like a genuinely good guy, but the dude is only like 3 years older than her! I'm not going to discount his flirting with her, because he does! And she giggles back!

The thing is, he knows he's doing it and keeps looking at me with that mischievous look on his face, like he's seeing how far he can push me before I blow up! He's not doing to hurt me; he's just fucking teasing me!

It's a good thing she really doesn't see Jeff as something other than Rick's chef, or we would be having a conversation soon!

I know at some point I'll be talking to Rick about everything that has been going down with Charlie and her uncle. But I'm not going to do it in front of his wife. And I have things I need to ask him about too.

I need to get home to see if I can find out what the hell all this contract stuff is about. I'll be needing Rick's help with that too. He's older and probably knows more about this stuff than I do.

Now that I've officially met Charlie's family, I gotta say I love their family dynamic. They are all really close and all really down to earth. I feel so bad for Olivia. I didn't mean to make things worse for her. I just wanted to be straight with her. Braxton Davis is bad news. And he's been hiding it from her, and that pisses me off!

"Hey, Rick, I gotta take Charlie home for a bit, but we'll be back later," I state after we are all finishing off this tasty cake. I know, I probably should've had dinner first, but what the hell. I'm not passing on a cake this good. I totally understand why Rick hired the guy.

I can see the moment I mention bringing Charlie home he's getting nervous. And I understand! I really do. But this has to happen, and I really need it to happen tonight! "Are you sure? Maybe she can stay and keep Josie company?" He suggests.

I give him an earnest look. "I promise, no one will touch her. Besides, my mom is looking forward to meeting her," I give him a smile. I'm not lying. She hasn't stop texting me since I informed her I was bringing a special friend to meet her. The woman is relentless, but I love her anyway!

I can tell Josie has no idea what's going on, and I'm going to try like hell to keep it that way. Not that I think she'll keep me from her sister, but I don't want to stress her out.

Rick still looks worried but gives a nod. "Okay, if you need anything, let me know!" He states.

The more time I spend around the guy, the more I like him. He's got this whole big brother thing going on, and I kinda like how protective of Charlie he is. But I can take care of her from now on.

It only takes me about 15 minutes to drive from the Kingston mansion back home. My house is nowhere near the size of Richard Kingston's, but it's actually pretty big. It's a two story, 5-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom house. We even have a basement I used for my parties when I was in high school.

Definitely more than we needed. I was an only child, and now that I think about it, how could a cop afford this on his pay? I'm actually scared to find out.
