Chapter 208 Our Destination
Mom was opening the front door before I even put it in park.
I can feel the nerves radiating off Charlie. I reach over and squeeze her hand. "It's going to be okay," I promise. "Like I said, Mom is going to love you!"
We both step out of the car and I'm instantly wrapped in Mom's warm hugs. "Welcome home, honey," she beams at me then looks at Charlie when she timidly makes her way over to us. "And who is this beautiful girl?" Mom coos, pulling her in for a hug as well.
I just chuckle. "Mom, meet Charlie Turner. My girlfriend," I smile at the shock on my girl's face. Yes, this is the first time I've used it officially, and I didn't ask, but that is exactly what she is, and now she knows!
"Oh! I'm so glad! What are you majoring in dear?" Mom automatically launches into her getting to know the new girlfriend routine as she ushers Charlie through our door.
"I'm studying to be a pediatrician," she blushes.
"Oh! And smart too! Much better than any of the other bimbos he brings home! I approve," she nods like she has the final say on all my dates.
Charlie sends me a questioning look and I blush. Yes, all the girls I brought home were 'bimbos' like Mom calls them, and not my girlfriends. So, I can understand Mom's excitement.
They were really just place holders because Dad wouldn't let me have who I really wanted. Well, screw him because I've got her now, and I'm not letting her get away.
"I'm making dinner, Charlie. I hope you like chicken Alfredo?" Mom asks, suddenly looking a little nervous.
"Oh! Yes! I love it!" Charlie beams at her. "It's actually one of my favorites."
"Dear, you and I are going to get along just fine if you like my dishes!" Mom chuckles bringing her into the open floor design and straight kitchen.
I can see my dad stiffen as he sits in front of the TV watching the news. I didn't even bother telling him I was bringing someone here. He'd tell me she wasn't allowed in our home. I can see him glaring at me before he turns his attention back to the news.
I hate watching news. It's depressing. But I need to get Charlie way from Dad before he starts badgering me about bringing her into our home. Mom is the complete opposite of Dad. And I'm so fucking glad for that!
"Uh, Mom? Would it be okay if I took Charlie on a tour of the house before you steal her away from me?" I chuckle, wrapping an arm around my girl. "I know how you love to chat, and I don't think I'll get her alone if you start gossiping now!"
"Oh! Of course, honey. You two go 'take a tour of the house,'" she says giving me a knowing look, and I'm blushing to my roots. "Just don't stay too long! Dinner should be ready in half hour!" Mom admonished.
And in this house, Mom's word is Law!
"C'mon, Angel. Let's go look around before Mom ropes you into making the garlic bread," I tease.
I take her upstairs, but contrary to what Mom thinks we'll be doing, I pull my girl to the last room on the left. (Although, if we have time, I'd be more than happy to bring Charlie into my room for a bit of privacy.)
But that is for later. I have a much more important destination in mind.
Dad's Office.
I pull her in quickly and lock the door behind us.
