Chapter 36 Teaching A Lesson

Chapter 36 Teaching A Lesson
In the security cabin, I was sitting on the table while the security staff of Alyssa’s workplace was standing in a line.

Heads hanging low in dread when facing the consequences of their deeds. They were trembling as my cold glare was affixed on them.

Wick stood beside me, he could feel my fury too but didn’t dare to interrupt as I growled.

“How could this happen under your watch? Did you forget your duty?”

Looking down in horror, they made a futile attempt to clear themselves.

“W-We are sorry, Sir, we- we were not present-”

“Lies. You guys were enjoying the sight of your Boss’ drama. You watched it and let it happen. Now suffer the consequences.” I hissed.

“Please, forgive us, Sir. This won’t happen again. Please,”

My patience was at its limit. These people were seriously testing me. They needed a reminder who the Boss is.

A lesson they won’t be able to forget ever.

“You are fired. Those who fail to do their duties properly are not needed in this enterprise,” I ordered strictly.

Terrified, they shook their heads, pleading with me but they should have treasured their job over a damn scandal.

“S-Sir, please, we are sorry, w-we won’t do it again, Sir, have mercy,”

They were about to come closer to beg but I placed my hand in the air heartlessly, ignoring the sounds of their whimpers as they shifted to their knees.

“This won’t happen again, Sir, please, please-”

They knew I won’t let them get another job elsewhere so easily.

Everyone called me cold and feared me for a reason.

Getting down from the table, I stopped before the pathetic people, ruthlessly staring down at the miserable form.

Lowering their heads in shame, they were requesting for the their jobs, for their future, “Please have mercy-”

“You wish such a thing existed in me,” He ordered darkly.

Tilting my chin up, a dangerous twinkle flashed in my eyes, smirking wickedly at the defeated ones.

The very same people who laughed at another’s misery.

The people of this world who would never learn their lesson and continue to make fun of someone’s anguish.

They don't deserve my mercy.

“Wick, send their remuneration and make sure they won’t appear before Alyssa again,”

Pointing at the door harshly, I growled, “Get out.”

Left with humiliation and nowhere to go, they forced themselves to stand and left.

When we were alone, I turned to Wick, “Wick,”

“Yes, Sir?”

“Also, show me the camera,”

He nodded, playing the recordings of the time where Astrid caused the scene. My jaw was clenched, forming a fist to the point veins were visible on them.

Losing my composure, I hated the sight where I wasn’t present to protect her, where this world endeavored to crush her.

Like they did with Lucia.

“This, this, and these, fire them too. Get the video deleted too,” I snarled.

Pointing at the people who watched but didn’t dare to step forth, moreover made a video of her anguish.

None of them would get away with it. They shouldn't have taken my warning lightly. It served as an indirect scar on my pride.

Did they consider ‘me’ weak, again?

“We can't find so many replacements-”

“I will send substitutes until you find candidates. A stressful environment is unacceptable,” I ordered sternly.

He opened his mouth but defeated before my dominance, he merely looked down and went along.

“I am permitting Alyssa to work to help her divert her mind and regain her confidence. She doesn’t need those who will reduce it,”

Muttering, I took out my cigarette and began to smoke to lessen the headache, rubbing my temples to reduce strain.

Wick observed the distress engraved on my features, the seriousness and determination to make everyone involved in this pay and trailed off nervously.

“All this… to save her?”

“They challenged my silence. A grave mistake. Now they must suffer the consequences,”

Enunciating darkly, I picked a file from the table and offered it to Wick.

“What is this, Sir?”

“Here, this is the list of people I want you to freeze their salaries for this month to teach them a lesson,” I chuckled wickedly.

Wick was getting intimidated by my real, scary side, the reason why people labeled me as ‘stone-cold’ was before him and it made him tremble.

“That will be cruel, Sir, they are dependent on it,” He whispered worriedly.

“Sometimes, you have to be, Wick, discipline should be taught the harsh way,”

Finishing my smoke, I crushed the cigarette under my feet and turned to leave, ordering him dominantly.

“Now. Wrap this up. And don’t you dare to go against me or tell Alyssa anything about it,”

“I treasure my career, I wouldn’t dare,”

“Hmm, good,”

After delegating tasks to him, wrapping up the mess here, I was about to leave for Astrid’s, to teach her a lesson too but received a call from Alyssa.

I didn’t want to disturb her but clearing my throat, I attended the call, vanishing all my dominance and sounded sweet.

“Hey,”

“Hey. Where are you? It’s Sunday, I am all alone. What am I supposed to tell Mrs. Lysander about us?”

“Don’t worry about it. I will be home soon. I have sent you our ‘story’ too. Check it out until then, okay?” I said expectantly.

“I know, I saw it too. But…” She paused hesitantly.

“But?”

“When will ‘you’ return?”

My heart skipped a beat at her innocent question. Taken aback, a bubbly sensation rose instantly but murdering it, I responded calmly.

“In the evening.”

“Okay,” She exhaled in relief. Why? Had my presence finally began to provide her with... comfort?

Shrugging these thoughts off, I replied like I am in a hurry, “Anyways, I have some errands to do, I will see you at home, okay?”

“Oh, okay,”

“Take care. Bye,”

“You too. Bye,”

Throwing the phone away after the call, my smile died, the scowl returned, speeding up car with one resolve- ‘It’s your turn to pay now, Astrid,’
