Chapter 26 The Revelation
Breathless, agonized, I could feel my heart thumping madly against my chest, tears filling my eyes when I leaned against Vince’s car.
The sensation of being defiled was inexplicable, my chest was being tormented, everything I once cherished was perished.
‘He was using me from the start, he never loved me, everyone was right about him being an asshole’ I thought sorrowfully.
Covering my mouth to conceal the wails, my head was hanging low until a hand emerged and removed it.
“Alyssa…?”
Lifting my blurred sight, I saw Vince standing bewildered, scanning my anguished form that made him narrow his eyes.
“Vince…?” I sniffled, roughly wiping my eyes, making a miserable face.
“What happened? Why are you here? Did they say something?” He asked gently.
Taking out his handkerchief to wipe the tears glistening on my cheek, distressed to find me in this trembling condition.
“V-Vince, Ken.. when you left they- they saw me and- and…”
Sobbing, my hands clutched his collar, tears still flowing from my eyes and whimpered.
Using his other hand to hold my chin, he lifted it to incline our faces, studying my miserable expression.
“And? What did they do?”
“They said I cheated, that I am using you… they said it before everyone,”
His jaw clenched outrageously, “And you listened? Why didn’t you say something or break his fucking jaw?” He growled.
“There was the whole ground. I- I got scared.”
Placing my head on his chest, my fingers clutched his shirt desperately, burying my face there as I liberated the tears, soaking his shirt.
Resting my weight against his, I closed my eyes to hide from them in his arms which at this point didn’t feel wrong.
In fact, I needed his warmth to tell me it was going to be alright.
“I feel horrible, Vince, they yelled, created a scene and got me humiliated.”
His strong arms wrapped around me immediately, keeping me encased while I could feel fumes emitting from him.
But since I was crying, he didn’t shift for the time being and solely focused on soothing me, kissing the top of my head.
“How dare he…”
Sniffling, after my heart felt light when the heftiness was freed in the form of tears, I pulled away a little, keeping my gaze lowered.
“Let’s go home, I don’t want to stay here anymore,”
His mouth gaped, utterly displeased, “Just like this? Without any repercussions?"
“I don’t think I can face them anymore,”
“But-”
Before I could convince him to disappear from here before they found us together, to my worst luck- they did.
“Oh there you are with your lover!” Ken shouted, coming with everyone, probably to tease me again, glaring at me.
“Vince? What the fuck!?”
“Astrid?”
Astrid came and saw us together. My breaths hitched, I was instinctively about to jump back but Vince held my back, refusing to part his body with mine.
My heartbeats doubled, glancing at him timidly as he stood unaffected, holding his chin up dominantly.
“See, I told you he had kept her as a side chick to fulfill his needs.” Sadie scoffed.
“Yeah, I even heard she lives in his house, Astrid.”
“I can’t believe what a homewrecker you are, Alyssa. When Ken left you after recognizing your true colors, you went to my man?”
She shot daggers in my direction, resenting the sight when he was holding me, providing me his full support.
But, I was disturbed about the rumors they were about to create, it would ruin me more.
Vince growled, warning her, “Astrid, you are getting it wrong, do not call Alyssa a homewrecker, she is not,”
My eyes widened, staring up at the man who was sheltering like none.
Suddenly, I had never felt this protected before.
My grip on his shirt tightened, impotent to break the gaze when he was speaking in my stead, for me.
“Stop defending her, dammit! If she is not a damn whore then why is she embracing my fiancé!?”
“Why don’t you think of a reason?” Vince rolled his eyes.
“Look everyone, that’s Alyssa Whitlock,” Ken shouted, calling out to all, holding his hand out, stooping too low, just to hurt me.
“The woman who used to hold so much pride in her love for Ken and now looks at her. Showing her real nature,"
Breaking the gaze, I quickly shook my head in denial, tears refilling my eyes.
Everyone had seen my devotion to Ken, I gave my all to him before he decided to disregard me.
I was never disloyal. He was.
“No, no, no, stop it, you are wrong, all of you know how he treated me during our marriage. He is no less than an asshole,”
“That doesn’t give you the right to cheat. That is why I left her, all of you can see why-”
“Stop it! Stop it! Just stop it!”
Shutting my eyes, I shouted painfully, ripping myself away from Vince who was staggered. He saw all the efforts he poured vanished.
“Alyssa…”
“Oh look who innocent she is acting before him,”
And I hadn’t seen such a strong hostility flick in his eyes before, curling his hand in a fist, he tried to warn them in a low tone.
“When she said stop then stop goddammit, stop hurting her…”
“Why do you care whether she is hurt or not!?”
“Humanity exists in me unlike you assholes!”
I flinched when he shouted, walking towards Ken with a threatening glare to not create a show of my leftover dignity.
“Stop it, Vince, we all know no one does this so much for nobody. Accept she is your mistress or whatever,” Sadie muttered.
He hissed, his glare made her seal her mouth, “Watch your mouth, Sadie,”
“She is right. Why are you sensitive about her? Can this slut even satisfy you-”
Before Ken could degenerate me further, Vince lost it and without a warning, he punched Ken across his face, breaking his nose in the process, drawing out blood.
Thrown to the ground, Ken stood astounded while everyone stepped back in apprehension when Vince shouted the truth I was concealing so far.
“SHE IS MY WIFE, MOTHERFUCKER!”
