Chapter 166 Slow Dancing In The Dark
Chapter 166 Slow Dancing In The Dark
Sade
Watching my children absolutely go nuts for their mother reinforced that I was most definitely doing the right thing with all of this. They had missed their mother so damn much. The woman who had been here taking care of them may have had her face, but she was not their mother, and they knew it. The way they reacted tonight showed that they knew their mother was finally home at last.
I could see Rain melt in the onslaught of baby love that she was currently being showered with. They wouldn’t let her go, so afraid she would disappear on them again. If I had anything whatsoever to say about it, she most certainly would not. Now, I just had to keep us moving forward in the right direction.
Finally, after all of the snuggles and soothed babies, we got them to the kitchen and fed them. Then she helped me give them their baths. After that, she read to them, and they crawled all over her some more while I stood back and just smiled at the picture they made.
Now, they were both finally asleep. The nanny was in her apartment, which was a small house built out behind ours. So, now it was just her and me, here at home, finally. I knew there was no way in hell she was ready for me to claim her again, but I wanted to start helping her get used to me being her husband. So I had some things planned.
I took her downstairs and out to the back patio where we had an outdoor living room. There was a sound system out here. I set up my phone with some romantic music, and I asked her to dance with me.
“Here, now?” She squeaked when she asked me that.
I grinned. “Yes, here, now. It’s just you and me. I know you are still trying to get accustomed to me and think of me as your husband, but I thought it might be nice for you to dance with me. I think that is an excellent way for you to get used to me holding you close.”
Although there was very little light, I could faintly see her cheeks heat up with her blush. The only lights on right now were the landscaping lights around the garden. Here, I had purposefully kept the lights off so it would be easier for her, I thought. I took hold of her hand and pulled her close to me. Not flush right up against me, but close. I wrapped one arm around her waist, and with the other, took hold of her hand and held it beside us.
The music was playing softly when I started to move us gently to it. I purposefully kept it soft and romantic, nothing with a heavy beat. I wasn’t trying to do the whole grinding thing with her right now. There were some songs with only music, a few with soft romantic words, but it was all slow and easy.
She looked down, then around, but she was having trouble putting her eyes directly on me. I just smiled a bit and waited, not rushing her. Eventually she looked up and met my eyes. I waited, and then I held her eyes, just wanting so bad to look into hers. I hadn’t been able to do that in so long. She was shut down, then she was gone, literally gone, where I couldn't find her anymore.
I have missed her so bad. Right now, being able to touch her and slow dance with her in my arms shows me how incredibly much I have missed her. It was like missing a piece of my own soul. She would do everything I asked, but it was as if I had a personally programmed robot in my house in place of the woman I loved.
Now, she is back. I had a chance to finally make her happy. I had a chance to rewrite our future to the one I had wanted it to be all along. There were still things that I would have to wait and see if they would happen. Like, would she finally start painting again and let me help her reach her goals and dreams with all of that? Would she be willing to have even more children with me?
I hope she is willing at some point for us to go and see her family in Ireland. They have missed her and the kids. Now with everything going on, there will be no way that Shamus will be able to leave for quite a while. He is having to take everything over and get Nigel ready to step into the shoes with the enforcers that he had been in charge of. So they are not in any position to visit. I’m in a better position to take the family to them.
Although I think after the new baby is born, it will be a good time. That will give everything a chance to calm down, and they would get to see the new baby. I’ll have to find out when it’s okay to take an overseas trip with a newborn. By then she should be more settled as well. I will talk to her about it later. Right now, she already has too much on her plate for that.
She didn’t look away from me while we danced. She smiled softly and just held my gaze, letting me just see her finally. We didn’t say anything else. We just slowly danced to the music, looking into each other’s eyes. It was amazing. For a man who couldn’t really feel things and was so different from those around me. This, right here, is what pointed out that she was meant for me. What I could feel with her in my arms, looking into her eyes, was amazing. This was where I felt human and felt peace. She was everything to me.
Now, my goal, basically as it had always been, was to become everything to her as well. Yes, she would love our children; that was very important. I just wanted to be the one she turned to when she needed a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold, and needed someone to support her for whatever reason. I wanted to be her home, her harbor, and a safe place. I wanted to be all of that for her. I would be there no matter what. I would never let anyone hurt her or take her from me. I refused to be without her ever again, for any reason.
