Chapter 164 Through The Front Door
Chapter 164 Through The Front Door
Sade
I watch Rain’s face as she enters the front door. I decided to let her come in through the front door today, rather than the garage. I wanted her to get the whole homecoming experience. Not to mention, I have placed photos around the entryway so she can see them.
She immediately goes to them and starts looking at them just like I thought she would. She has been fascinated with the photos I have shown her while she’s been in the hospital, so I thought having ones here would help move the narrative of our life along. I have had a ton of help with setting all of this up.
The one she is looking at right now is actually a very true one and hasn’t been altered in any way. This is a picture of her that was taken when Saoirse was born. Barnabas is leaning close to her while she has our daughter in her arms. This is actually the first time she is seeing a picture of her and her father, as I didn’t have one with me at the hospital.
I can see her emotionally reacting to the picture, so I go up and wrap my arm around her waist, and love it when she leans her head against my shoulder, “That was the day our daughter was born, your dad loved being there.”
“I look just like him, my god, we are like carbon copies of each other.” I nod.
I am glad when she doesn’t ask any other questions about the pictures and, in fact, moves on to the foyer of the house. Our house is large. We have an entry hall that leads to a foyer, and from there is a large staircase that leads up to the second floor and all of the bedrooms except for one. There is one large guest suite on the ground floor.
To the left is a short hallway area that has openings to the huge living room, laundry area, playroom, and then outside to the huge pool, as well as an outdoor living room and entertainment space, then flows out into a large garden area as well as open areas for the kids to play in. The whole property is fenced with a large stone fence, and I have men who patrol it. She has seen the guards at the gate. I told her I am very successful and came from a very wealthy family, so we need security.
The right side has a short hallway that opens up into the formal living room, then over there is a hallway that leads to my office and the library. There is an empty room across from my office that I want to create a studio in for her, but with the way things have been with us, I haven’t done so yet. Perhaps now I can do that with her.
The walls in here have other pictures, one of which is a large wedding photo. Her family helped me with this one big time, and I owe Shamus for that. They had one of the photos cropped down so all you can see is from just above our elbows up. They had a digital artist alter her face just slightly to make it seem that she was smiling. Her eyes are closed, and I’m kissing her. With the way the shot is cropped, you can’t tell that her arms are hanging limp at her sides. So, if you just look at this, it seems like a happy couple kissing at their wedding.
There are several other wedding photos that we paid the digital artist a ton of money to alter for us. With the technology available today, it wasn’t hard for him to create things that never actually happened, and alter other photos completely or slightly, depending on what we wanted them to show.
We were also able to create pictures of me there with her for the birth of our daughter. I will explain that our son was born at home due to his sudden desire to appear, which was very unexpected, and I delivered him. I do have pictures of her with him right after he was born, and I am in those. We used images I had kept from old security footage I had. Those had been images that I had kept, but now they have come in handy with altering some things or enhancing them a bit.
So, she is busy looking at the pictures I have had hung around the walls, showing a very happy life with the two of us and our family. There is even a picture of the party with Tomilino and us when he announced our marriage and the pregnancy way back before Connor was born. She is in that beautiful white dress that I had picked out. We had her smile enhanced just a bit, as she was, in fact, smiling in the picture; it just looked a bit off if you really checked it out, so I had that fixed.
I would pay any amount of money to help make her fit into our lives seamlessly. This is my chance to rewrite our history and make her happy, finally. I can see the soft smile she has on her face as she looks at these pictures, so to me it is very much worth it. The doctor doesn’t think she’ll ever remember, so now, hopefully the only thing she will ever know is the happy history I am creating for her with us.
When she comes back over to me, I reach down and take her hand. For once, she squeezes my hand back, smiles up at me, and my heart is soaring. I smile down at her and ask, “Ready to go see the kids?”
She thinks for just a second, “Yes, I think so.” I nod, pull her hand still wrapped in mine up to my hand, and kiss the back of it. I smile as her cheeks pinken.
Then I take us up the stairs and towards the nursery where the kids are. We had been keeping them in the same room, even though we just moved Connor to a toddler bed rather than a crib. It’s a good thing, especially now in light of our new little one on the way.
She and I will have to make decisions about how we want to arrange the rooms for expanding the family. I find myself smiling as I think about all of the possibilities now. Ones I didn’t have several days ago. Now, the whole entire future has opened back up, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Now, I am anxious to see her interact with the kids.
