Accept my Rejection
My room door was opened with a bang. I was startled and quickly turned to see who had entered.
"Why did you run away from me?" Max exclaimed, and my heart was still racing from the sudden intrusion.
"You are ready to accept the lady in red as your Luna. Everyone in the pack is eager to meet her and show their support."
"And I think it is a better deal for your pack too." My words were met with a confused expression from Max. He seemed taken aback by my statement as if he hadn't expected me to be open to the idea. I could sense his hesitation, but I knew deep down that embracing the lady in red as his Luna would bring unity and strength to his pack.
"Deal for my pack," he scoffed as he walked inside the room.
"You rejected me, thinking I was accepting someone." He walked towards me.
"Yes, you never wanted me as your mate. Not once have you acknowledged me as your mate." I could see the hurt in Max's eyes as he confronted me about his previous rejection.
"I kept you beside me; I brought you from your pack. I always wanted to be by your side, to protect and support you," Max continued, his voice filled with a mix of anger and sadness. "I lost your trust, and I wanted to win it back." Max's words hit me like a punch to the gut. I had never realized the depth of his feelings for me, and now I was faced with the consequences of my actions. The weight of his hurt and my own guilt settled heavily upon me, leaving me at a loss for words.
"I never told you that I would accept someone else as my Luna." Max said, "That purple dress you wore to the ball was meant for you. I was about to declare you my Luna at the event. I had hoped that one day you would see how much I cared for you and that we could have a future together." Max's admission caught me off guard, as I had always assumed he was content with our friendship. The realization of his unspoken feelings left me feeling both flattered and overwhelmed. It was clear that our relationship had taken a turn I hadn't anticipated, and now I had to decide how to navigate this new dynamic between us.
"No one ever wanted me, Max. Even you never made any indication that you saw me as anything more than a pack member," I replied, my voice filled with a mix of surprise and vulnerability. "I need some time to process all of this. Can we talk about it later?"
"Will you still reject me?"
"Now you want me because I have my wolf." Max's eyes widened at my response, and a flicker of hurt crossed his face. "No, that's not it at all," he protested, his voice tinged with regret. "I've always cared about you, wolf or no wolf. I just never knew how to express it until now." His words struck a chord within me, and I realized that perhaps there was more to our connection than I had initially thought.
As I looked into Max's eyes, I could see the sincerity in his words. It was clear that he had been struggling with his feelings for me, and I couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, things could work out between us.
I stumbled and hit the wall behind me. I didn't even know I had reached the wall until that moment. The impact of Max's confession had left me speechless and disoriented, causing me to lose my balance. As I steadied myself against the wall, I couldn't help but wonder if this unexpected revelation was the beginning of a new chapter in our relationship, one that held both uncertainty and excitement.
His breath was fanning my cheek; it was warm. I closed my eyes and allowed myself to savor the moment, feeling a mix of vulnerability and anticipation. The weight of Max's words lingered in the air, creating an electric tension between us that I couldn't ignore. It was at that moment that I realized our connection had deepened, and I couldn't wait to see where this newfound closeness would take us.
"You come back to me, my Luna. I will wait for that day. "Until then, enjoy your bachelor life," Max whispered, his voice filled with both longing and determination. His words echoed in my mind, leaving me with a sense of hope and a renewed sense of purpose. As I looked into his eyes, I knew that our bond was stronger than ever, and I was ready to embrace whatever the future held for us.
He kissed me on my forehead before stepping back, a bittersweet smile playing on his lips. "Remember, no matter where life takes us, we'll always find our way back to each other," he said, his voice filled with unwavering faith. With that, he turned and walked away, leaving me with a mixture of emotions and a newfound determination to cherish every moment we had together.
"Don't leave this coven, and don't shift without letting me know." He turned back, his eyes meeting mine once more, and I nodded reassuringly. "I promise," I said softly, before disappearing into the distance.
Days passed in peace. Elizabeth helped me understand my powers, which I held as a white wolf. We understood that these powers run in my bloodline.
"I need to know where I come from," I said, looking at the history book she provided about white wolves.
"I tried to investigate my parents, yet it is hard to track them." Elizabeth sighed, her eyes filled with sympathy. "I understand your curiosity, but sometimes the past can be elusive," she said gently. "However, I do know that white wolves are rare and often considered guardians of ancient wisdom. Perhaps there are clues within our coven's archives that could shed some light on your heritage."
"Your grandfather brought you from a pack; maybe he can help you find where you are from?"
"He said I was picked up after the war. He doesn't want me to go to an orphanage like they offered. So he took me in by breaking all the rules."
"He's always been protective of me, but he never really talked about our family history. Maybe it's time to have a conversation with him and see if he knows anything more about our origins," she suggested. "It could be a chance for both of us to uncover the truth and understand our heritage better."
"Why would a person risk his comfortable life for an unknown kid?" The Elizabeth question had brought me back to the present moment.
"You can dream walk. Use that ability to walk into your grandfather's dream. This could be dangerous, yet you are asking him a few questions. I believe it's harmless. " The Elizabeth suggestion made me think of the possibility of using my dream walking ability to gather information from my grandfather's subconscious. It could provide valuable insights into our origins and potentially reveal hidden knowledge about our heritage. However, I couldn't help but feel a sense of apprehension about the potential dangers that might come with delving into someone's dreams.
"Do you think I can do it?" I asked curiously.
"Yes, let's meet at my house tonight, and we can discuss it further," Elizabeth replied, her eyes filled with excitement. "Just remember to proceed with caution and set clear boundaries before entering your grandfather's dream. It's important to prioritize both his safety and your own."
I walked back to my room with loads of thoughts. I took a hot shower just to relax my body.
'Dream walking can be dangerous' Ashley voiced her thoughts.
'Can you explain?' I asked her. Ashley paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts. 'Well,' she began, 'when you enter someone's dream, you're essentially entering their subconscious mind. It can be a powerful and unpredictable place, filled with emotions, memories, and even hidden fears. It's important to be prepared for anything you might encounter and to remember that dreams can sometimes feel very real.'
I nodded, absorbing her words. 'So, how do I protect myself while dreamwalking?' I asked, curious about the precautions I should take.
Ashley smiled reassuringly. 'First and foremost, establish a clear intention before entering the dream. Set boundaries within yourself and make sure you have a plan for how to handle any challenging or uncomfortable situations that may arise. It's also helpful to visualize yourself surrounded by a protective shield or light before entering the dream realm.'
'Why don't you try on our mate?' Ashley chuckled, understanding my eagerness to try dream walking. 'It's important to remember that dream walking is a skill that takes time and practice to develop,' she cautioned.
'Start by practicing in shorter intervals and gradually increase the duration as you become more comfortable. And always trust your instincts—if something feels off or dangerous, it's okay to exit the dream immediately.'
I stood up from the bathtub and dried myself. I changed into Pyjamas and ate my food. I checked the time, and it's nearly 9. I was not ready to enter into my grandfather's dream, so I excused myself from meeting with Elizabeth tonight.
As my wolf suggested, I decided to try on Max. I know it's not fair to walk into someone's dream, mainly Max, whom I have been trying to avoid.
'Stop thinking so much. I wanted to see him, I miss him badly.' Ashley grunted in my head. 'Okay, if he asks, I will blame you for this crazy idea,' I muttered to myself. With a sigh, I grabbed my blanket and closed my eyes.
I drifted to sleep, hoping to find myself in Max's dream.
I walked into a forest where there was a hill. I climbed the hill and found myself standing on top, overlooking a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. The air was crisp and filled with the scent of pine trees, and I could hear the gentle rustling of leaves in the wind. As I took in the beauty around me, I couldn't help but wonder if Max's dream would be as serene and peaceful as this moment.
"It feels so real," I whispered to myself, feeling the soft grass beneath my feet and the warmth of the sun on my skin. The vibrant colors of the flowers and the distant sound of a babbling brook added to the enchantment of the scene, making me yearn even more to be a part of Max's dream.
I waited there for hours, but Max did not come.
"Is he going to come?" I pondered, growing slightly anxious as the minutes turned into hours. Doubts began to creep into my mind, wondering if Max's dream was merely a figment of his imagination or if something had prevented him from joining me in this idyllic setting. As the sun started to set, casting a golden glow over the landscape, I reluctantly accepted that Max may not be coming after all.
"The moon is rising," I whispered to myself, finding solace in the beauty of the moment. The gentle breeze rustled through the trees as if carrying a message of hope that Max would still arrive, even if it was later than expected.
"I think I'm in the wrong dream." The uncertainty lingered as I gazed at the moon, its soft glow illuminating the surroundings. Perhaps this dream was meant for me alone, and Max's absence was a reminder of that. Nevertheless, I couldn't help but hold onto a glimmer of hope, hoping that maybe, just maybe, this dream would still bring us together.
