CHAPTER FIFTY THREE

Daemon's POV

Being the only person left in the hall, I walk out, bumping into someone.

"I'm sorry." I apologized immediately, my face down, I tried to walk away from the person.

"Is Damian alright? The person asked if the voice sounded familiar, and I looked up to see the first elder.

"No..no... Yes..yes..." I stuttered, not expecting to have meant he was in this particular place and time, he hummed, stroking his mustache, then he turned away.

"Walk with me." He said, "I followed behind, his steps calculated and slow. If I were to measure, I would find the distance equal, "Do you know what happened in the hall today?" He asked me with an even tone, his voice free from a crack, breaking my thoughts from his walking step and the distance.

"No.. no." I stuttered before answering him, "But, I think I had heard some elders calling it the Alpha's command or the Alpha's roar, something like that." I replied, trying to imitate how he walked, even his posture, he stopped walking, and I stop immediately, almost bumping into him, he hummed again, and I could see his hand go upwards again, probably to stroke his mustache.

"And you've never forced someone more powerful than you, even lesser, to obey your direct will?" He asked again, his hand moving rhythmically to show he was stroking something, if not his beard as I stood behind him.

"No, but, I would love to try it," I answered him, he hummed again, then dropped his hands behind him, the big sleeves flowing into each other to create one material as he held both hands together.

"That would be interesting." He murmured.

"What would be interesting?" I asked, eager to hear his own side, Margarita's words echoing in my mind as he said so.

"Nevermind." He answered, turning towards me, "You should check on Damian." He continued, then turned to leave me.

"Same thing Margarita said." Hardly finished my word when he stopped in his tracks.

"Oh!" He exclaimed, "She said that too." He murmured, I stood behind him as he continued his soliloquy, "Must have seen this possibility too." He continued, then sighed, he turned to me, "Go check on your brother." He repeated like a broken alarm, then walked off, leaving me behind.

"What's up with all these people telling me to go check on Damian? Am I not important too?" I asked myself, standing where I was with my arms wide open, a laughter escaped from my lips on seeing how I stood, "Well, I should probably listen to them." I said, then began to walk in the direction of Damian's room.

"Who's home?" I asked on getting to his room, seeing the door open, with no one inside, "Is anyone in?" I asked as I walked in, no sound from the bathroom or his study, the door to his private gym, looked like it hadn't been touched in a while, just the balcony was ajar.

"Oh! You guys are here." I say on opening the door, the both of them leaning on the railing.

"Yeah," Damian answered nonchalantly, staring out from the balcony.

"Came to check up on you." I said, noticing the silence that must have already pervaded the atmosphere before I came in, "Anything wrong? I asked, trying to chase away the awkward feeling.

"Nothing is wrong," Daemon answered and turned to face me, Anya chirped in almost immediately, coming to stand between Damian and me.

"Everything is wrong." She answered, "I've been trying to get some information from him, but he hasn't been budging." She continued, eyeing him from the corners of her eyes before she faced me, I could Damian shaking his head.

"What?" I mouthed.

"Don't tell her anything." He mouthed, I shook my head and faced Anya, "And, what's the information you've been trying to get from him?" I asked her.

"I just wanted to know what had happened in the meeting." She replied, then stood Akimbo.

"Well, lots of this happened in the meeting today," I answered her, looking at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Like where they discussed about me, right?" She asked, backing Damian, he shook his head, and I flicked a hand at him.

"Yeah, they did," I answered her.

"I knew it." She replied, "Well, tell me what they said." She said and moved closer to me.

"Just the normals," I answered.

"Like?" She asked again.

"Your whereabouts," I answered her.

"And what did you guys answer?" She asked.

"That you were with us and we would hold on to you." I answered, "Only that one of the elders had said we had to let you go or they would be coming for head sooner than deliberated and Damian had done something to him, something they called the Alpha's command or roar, something like that forcing the old man to his knees while asking him to apologize, it was a hell of a ride today.." I answered her, but she remained silent after a while, I saw Damian facepalm himself, she only sighed, then walked away, leaving just Damian and me on the balcony.

"I tried to warn you not to tell her anything." He said in a whisper in a bid to keep his voice low, his face already scrunched to tell me he was already angry with me for not listening to him.

"I didn't know." I whispered back, "I didn't know it would turn out like this, at least she deserves to know what we discussed there." I continued.

"No, you didn't know, 'cause you weren't here when I had assured her we wouldn't be talking about her in the meeting." He said, almost raising his voice, I kept silent for a while, "If anything were to happen to her." He tried to continue talking when I interrupted.

"Nothing would happen to her." I jumped in, staring him in the face, "There's no need to start threatening, nothing is going to happen to her." I replied, "Unless you are hiding something from me." I continued, still looking him in the face, he backed down for a while but came back a few seconds later.

"I don't care if you see it as a threat or not if anything should happen to her, just know I would be holding you responsible." He said, his nostrils already turning red.

"Yeah, do whatever you want." I said, he nodded, and walked past me, bumping my shoulders with his, I staggered a bit and held my ground, he turned to look at me, then walked into the room, I sighed, the following after, the sun was almost completely down, I walked into the room, he sat by the chair, Anya stayed on her bed, facing away from him, "She wouldn't need to talk to me, I muttered to myself and let myself out of the room. I sighed as I closed the door, "This is fucked up." I said to myself and walked to my room, cursing at every slight thought.
