CHAPTER FIFTY FOUR
Anya's POV.
I had known I would be the main topic, but Damian hiding it from me was what got me, he knew what I was going through, "Maybe, I would just go back to prison, I would be better off still in prison." I muttered, throwing myself down to the bed.
"I'll be going out for a race with Daemon." He said, leaving me in the room.
"This is my chance," I muttered, rolling off the bed, I shuffled my feet along until I had gotten to the cell I was held captive.
"Never thought you would be free for so long." He said with a smirk, his eyes roving around me, I could tell his hand-held either his stun gun or his baton.
"I came of my own accord," I replied to him, me eyes where his hands might be.
"And what brings you back here?" He asked me, the smirk still on his face.
"That's none of your business," I answered him, moving away from him to the cells.
"Ooh! Her feistiness is back, isn't it?" He tried to mock me, but I continued walking away, "Does the twin know?" He asked again, I would say, being intent on me doing something desperate. I kept quiet, the silence deafening as I stood against my cell, he came to where I was when he began to laugh loudly, swiping his card against it to open it, "I would have thought so." He continued as I walked in, banging the door so loudly I flinched, "This is your place until it's time for your head to roll off your shoulders." He said and spat to the ground, walking away just as he was done, I listened to his footsteps recede into quietness before I sat on the ground, sighing.
"I deserve this," I mutter to myself, wrapping my arms around my legs, I began to cry, crying my heart out until I could cry no more, I lay on the cold floor, cradling myself, forgetting where I was for a moment, the shadow of sleep overtaking my mind, I closed my mind to the darkness
"What's happening?" I asked the warden as he opened the door, he it looked at me, wiping the baton against the door, I swipe my hands against my eyes to see clearly, his action had woken me up.
"I thought I told you, you couldn't escape your karma?" A normal familiar voice sounded, "It's time to go." He cackled as his voice faded, I look up just at the moment the warden attacked, rolling away before the hit connected, "Stop!" I screamed, but he charged again like he was possessed.
"You have to die." He growled, striking with his baton at me, I jump to the wall, ricocheting back to his shoulders with a flip, he shrugged his shoulders, throwing me off balance, I drop to the ground with a shriek, his foot, connecting to my stomach as he turned, I smash against the wall, dust pouring out, obscurity my view when a knife pierced through it, I dodge the attack just at the nick of time, just as the blade stuck into the wall.
"The council hasn't ordered I should be killed, why are you doing this?" I asked him, smacking his hand with a hard jab, it knocked his hand and the knife, dislodging it from the wall, he let go of the weapon, the knife clattering to the ground as he moved back.
"Your sins have come to find you." He answered with that familiar sinister voice of the deceased alpha, I jump in the direction of the knife, grabbing at its handle when he charged at me, attempting to grab me, I rolled away at the last moment while he smacked his head against the wall, dazed, he stepped back, I moved under him, using his momentum to carry him across my shoulders, dropping him to the ground on the back of his neck, I could hear it snap, I turned away, two things could happen if the windpipe was broken in a way it wouldn't heal back quickly, he was dead, if it wasn't, he would only be sleeping for a while.
"There goes another murder again," I muttered not minding to check on which ground his situation was, just as two more wardens dropped into the cell, one opened the gate, circling me to check on the probably dead one.
"She's killed him." He answered with a shout at his colleague, she charged at me, her ponytail whipping in the air, and my blade rolled backward, I engaged in her attack, dodging her extended arm as she attempted a jab at my face. Turning the blade outside, I sliced at her midsection, her liquids pouring out, as she let out a little grunt, her partner jumped into the fray, grabbing me by the back of my shoulders, I twist around until I was facing him, with my head under, raising my head with so much force to smash under his jaw, the smell of metal around me as some liquid sprayed me, he held on to me, ramming his knee into my stomach, putting me back under him.
"Don't let her go." His colleague shouted as she picked herself from the ground, he tried to ram his knee into my stomach, his knife I had placed in-between the both of us, digging deep into his thigh, he growled, his hand shifting into claws, swiping them across my chest, I drew the knife out, crossing my arms to block the attack, the force throwing me across the room. I stood up immediately, my arms numb and trembling, but I held on to the knife, they both stood, hunched, the female holding to the place the knife had cut her, the male trying to tie his leg while it healed, I dash through their middle, rolling out the door, I bang it shut before I was even up and standing, both wardens came to the bars, their faces to the bar.
"Kill her! Kill her! Kill her!" They began to echo, their eyes milky white, while a sinister voice cackled in the room, I dash out of the cell, scrambling partly into the open air, I run blindly until I crashed into someone, tumbling away to gauge my next assailant.
"Damian!?" I called on seeing the person, then began to rant almost immediately, "What's happening? Why are they trying to kill me? Have the council ordered I should be killed?" I blasted him with questions.
"There's an order for you to be killed." He answered, almost mechanically and began to walk towards me.
"Who would order that?" I asked him, eyeing him suspiciously, with the way he moved towards me.
"Us." He answered, his eyes turning white at that moment.
"Us?" I asked, putting the blade in front of me, he lunged at me nonetheless, and I rolled away, keeping my balance on my feet, he came again, this time growling as his claws stretched out from his hands, I sidestepped him only to hear a gunshot, blood spreading from my stomach where I was hit, I turn to see Daemon holding the gun, smoke pouring out of it, "Not you too." I said, staggering to standing on both feet,
"Kill." He said as he came closer, Damian closed in from behind me, he held me by the neck, raising me to my feet, I stab into the hand he used to hold me up, and he shrieked and growled, kicking him in his balls, he doubled over, Damian came close to grab me, I rolled over the bent Daemon, pain shooting from where I had been shot, healing, but, not healing fast enough.
"Stop, the both of you should stop." I said out loud, my knife in front of me, the blade pointing outward, "Before we do something we would both regret." I continued, but, both of them stood tall, staring at me through their blank eyes, when I hear that same sinister laughter again, the deceased Alpha's form appearing between the twin.
"They can't hear you, Anya." He said and laughed again, "They won't hear you." He continued, that's when I turn around to see the crowd, blank eyes, all walking towards where we were.
"Kill! Kill! Kill!" They chanted as they can closer.
"Are you done torturing me?" I scream out as I try to catch my breath, the sheer size of the people coming, overpowering, running and fighting was never my thing.
"Not yet, Anya." He answered, I turned just in time to meet Susanne, the only person in this maddened world of mine with clear eyes, her blade plunging deep into my stomach, scraping past my wrist.
"They can never be yours." She said with a sickening smile on her face, I push her away, the knife still shelved in my stomach, my nerve bracelet broke off, and power coursed through me, I growled out loud as I pulled out the blade, my body healing quickly, Damian attacked, his claws outstretched, I parried with the knives I held in both hands, Susanne came in, headbutting me, I stagger a bit to the back, maintaining my composure.
"Why do you hate me so much?" I asked her, wiping the blood from my nose with the back of my hands, while I maintained my fighting stance.
"It's fate." The deceased alpha answered, "Your fate."
"Fuck fate." I cursed out and charged at Susanne when Damian appeared before her, my body slowing down as my hands fell to my side, I could feel cold ripping through my body, I looked down to see his hand had ripped into my stomach.
"Damian," I called out, still watching his hand remain in my gut, I fell to the ground as he pulled it out, watching the four of them gather around me from every angle, I muster the remaining of my strength to shift, scampering out from there with so much speed, I couldn't imagine would burst out of me.
"Run Anya, run, but you cannot run from your fate." His voice cackled into the distance.
"No!" I repeated as I trashed around on the floor, slapping my hand hard to the ground, it woke me, my body covered with cold sweat, "It was just a bad dream." I repeated, trying to calm myself down, "It's only a nightmare." I said and lay still and controlled my raging hormones, "Only."
