Chapter 32 connection between them

Chapter 32 connection between them
Marcus’ P.O.V. (Continued)

“In two hours, you will get the evidence of who spread those rumors today. I don’t know what you guys will do to him, but he is already on our blacklist. All the companies and establishments owned by the rogues everywhere will blacklist him from now on. Whether you still decide to consider our proposal of forming a pack or not, we will not beg.” I told him my decision in a firm and determined tone.
“What if he is not the one behind this?” Hunter asked me, doubts still hanging in his voice. I grimaced but controlled myself.
“Then who between us?” I asked him calmly. He pursed his lips while staring at me with a blank gaze but didn’t answer my question.
“I don’t know about you guys, but I, Marcus Smith, and my team never joke or gossip about a girl’s dignity, whether she is a werewolf or a human. A woman’s dignity is above everything else for us.” I announced before moving towards the door.
Luca followed me out of the door, but I didn’t look back. I had no intention of staying here even for a second.
I am not a saint and yeah, I also had my own skeletons in my closet, but I always respected women and that’s why none of my teammates ever laid their hands on a woman nor did they ever force themselves.
Sylvia was already working on finding the real culprit behind the rumors. That’s why I told Hunter that I would send him the evidence in two hours.
“Send a mail to everyone on my behalf and tell them to blacklist Bernard Shaw and any member of his pack from doing business with us. He will never learn his lesson until we block him completely.” I instructed Luca after leaving the room.
I knew that we would also endure some backlash from this action, but I was ready to face that burn instead of giving Bernard any satisfaction.
“How do you think Amelia will react to the current situation now?” Luca asked me worriedly after a few seconds.
I took a deep breath but didn’t reply to him.
I felt miserable now because I destroyed all Amelia’s efforts to get the approval of the king for that pack.
“What should we do now?” he asked me again, sounding worried to death.
I sighed and stopped in front of the elevator, not knowing what to tell Amelia.

Hunter’s P.O.V.

For four years, I saw Alexander suffering from what happened back then. My only fault was that I wasn’t with him that night, and Bernard took advantage of the situation and his relationship with Alexander.
When I came back, I found Alexander unconscious, lying naked on a bed with blood on his lower body. Bernard's beta was there with a few warriors.
I thought that he hurt Alexander in some way, and in a fit of rage, I killed him that very instant, and I never regretted doing that because later we found his role in the whole scheme.
I assumed every possibility in which that girl would be taken away by the rogues, but never ever, even in my dreams, did I think about something this bad.
There was only a photo of half of her face, but that was also filled with burns and pus.
“Did you really not remember anything about that girl?” I asked him in a low and cautious voice. I didn’t have to reopen his wounds because he never let them heal.
“All I remember is her whimpers and ….. and the birthmark on her nape.” He mumbled a reply and I narrowed my eyes.
I immediately took the file from him and tried to find any photo showing her nape or the upper part of her back.
I stopped when I found something close to the birthmark, but it was wounded too.
“Like this?” I still asked Alexander in a low and cautious voice and slowly moved that photo in front of him.
He literally snatched the file from me and looked at the photo.
“This….. this… this is her.” He murmured in shock but the pain in his voice was so raw that I felt a sharp stabbing pain in my chest.
“This is really her.” He cried this time, sounding miserable and heartbroken.
I even felt Velan’s heartbreak through our bond.
I never understood why Velan was also so fixated on that girl. He became more ruthless after that incident and never let any woman come near to Alexander.
He almost killed two unmated alpha she-wolves when they tried to come closer to Alexander during the annual alpha gala two years ago.
“Control yourself, Alexander. At least now you know that she was saved back then. Nothing happened to her like they said in those rumors.” I comforted him, but my expression went cold.
He suddenly growled and stood up. “Verify these data with the dates only. Don’t try to find what happened to her after they took her away from these institutions.” He ordered me in a gruff voice.
I nodded in response while taking the file from him. “What about Bernard? Caitlin will surely raise hell if something happens to Bernard this time. She is still not on good terms with you for what you did to him back then.” I asked him in a serious tone, reminding him about his sister’s reaction and attitude towards him now.
“He dug his grave on his own. If he approaches you again, tell him that I am not someone to clear his mess. I am still sparing his life because of Caitlin. Tell her if she confronts you. If she still thinks that I am being cruel to her and her family, then ask her to sever the family relationship with me.” He instructed me in a very cold voice while walking towards the door.
“Do you think that Amelia can be that girl?” I suddenly asked, voicing my suspicion about the link between Amelia and that girl.
I don’t know why but ever since I met Amelia, I have always had this instinct to protect her. Not only me, but also my wolf, Onyx, felt the same way.
I always tried to find the right reason why we felt something like this for a rogue, but nothing added up.
Now, when I thought about the whole situation, both girls are associated with Marcus and his team. Both of them were drugged, assaulted and left to die outside their pack.
Amelia never revealed the name of her previous pack, and Marcus refused to tell us that girl’s name and her whereabouts.
“Remember what Liam told us? Amelia’s body is still dealing with the consequences and her trauma with other people’s touch.” I added it further while walking in his direction.
“I would have known if she is the one, Hunter.” He replied to me coldly, refusing to believe me, but I didn’t just smirk bitterly.
“You can’t, Alex. No one can because she has no scent, remember?” I reminded him while stopping right behind him.
He growled and spun on his heel, facing me now.
