Chapter 33 his desire for her
Hunter’s P.O.V. (Continued)
“What was the scent of that girl?” I asked him the next before he could growl at me again.
He glared hard at me, but I know that he scented her before he lost his senses. “She is not the one.” He pressed, gritting his teeth.
“And why not?” I yelled in retort. Why can’t he see what I could?
“She can’t be the one. She shouldn’t be the one.” He muttered, and I blinked in confusion.
His eyes suddenly went unfocused. “Alex!” I exclaimed in worry and immediately held him tightly by his torso.
He staggered but I was ready. I dragged him back to the couch and made him sit there.
It wasn’t him. It was Velan. Ever since that day, Velan always lost himself whenever Alexander had a mental breakdown.
I took the wine glass that Luca gave him earlier from the coffee table and made Alexander drink some.
I didn’t know why I believed them, but I had this faith that there was nothing wrong with the wine.
Alexander drank it in a daze and coughed a little when I forced him to have a few sips more.
I put the glass back on the coffee table and sat down beside him, still holding him by his shoulders.
He coughed but soon regained his composure. I sighed internally and waited for him to say what he had in his mind.
Marcus said that this suite was secure. No one can hear our conversation by any means. I still asked Edwin to make sure that they had no other device installed here secretly.
So, yeah.
I knew that only I and Alexander were the only ones here.
“In a few days, I am going to announce Amelia as my girlfriend.” He dropped the bombshell in a very calm way.
I jerked my head backward with such force that I almost got a cramp in my neck while widening my eyes in shock.
“What the fk, Alex? Are you out of your mind?” I yelled in shock. All the wires in my brain short-circuited and I seriously doubted his present mental condition.
“I am completely sane, Hunter. Amelia is the only woman who can be with me. She has a problem with people coming close to her, I can’t tolerate any other woman other than her nearby me let alone being intimate.” I just blinked in shock, still processing what he just said.
“You are a fking king, Alexander, not an ordinary werewolf who can take a rogue or any other she-wolf as his girlfriend or a chosen mate just like that. You will create chaos. The council, your family, the whole kingdom—you will put her life in grave danger, Alexander. You…. you know that she is not as strong as she looks on the surface. Why are you taking this risk?”
I was losing my mind and my voice was rising to the highest octave that I had ever used on Alexander.
“Because I want her.” He roared, shaking my poor soul to the core. Onyx groaned in anger and frustration but didn’t come out of his hiding.
“You….. you want her?” I asked him, staring at him in disbelief this time.
He growled and moved to the front while covering his face in between his palms.
The explosion going on inside my mind was so loud that all I could hear now was a loud ringing.
We came here only to hear their side of the story before making a decision about what to do with those rumors going on online.
“And what do you think that poor girl will think when she learns th… that you are coveting someone close to her while she is waiting for her death every second?” I asked him angrily, my tone filled with sheer sarcasm.
He immediately glared at me but didn’t utter a word.
“And what about Amelia when you find your fated mate?” I asked him again in the same tone when I remembered that he is still unmated.
“I am already 30, Hunter. I would have found my mate long ago if the goddess had paired me with her. Or, she would have severed my ties with my mate after what I and Velan did to that girl.” He yelled, tears filling his eye this time.
I wanted to yell back at him saying that he is being jerk here, but couldn’t utter a word.
It’s not like Alexander assaulted that girl on his will. Just like they said, he was also a victim, but something broke inside Alexander at that cliff when he realized that he lost that girl forever.
We still didn’t know why both Alexander and Velan were so affected by that girl’s disappearance but the present condition was bigger chaos than that.
“Amelia will join the royal pack in a few days as my personal guard and then we will announce our relationship. She is not in the best state of health, I know, but I will protect her with everything that I have, Hunter. Her only concern is her people, whom she wants to give a safe place. She will get that and then there will be nothing that can make her fear anyone, not even the council. I am sure that you get what I am implying here.”
He finished in a stern voice, his voice went cold in the end, but now I got his plan in a better way as I was now a bit calmer than earlier.
“I don’t know what you are thinking, Alexander, but Amelia doesn’t deserve to go through so much danger just because she requested something for her people,” I still protested, but this time, I kept my voice calm.
“But this is also the only way to find that girl, Hunter.” He argued and I knitted my brows.
I had this hunch but listening from him still stunned me.
“I am not a jerk to take advantage of an innocent girl, Hunter. I really want Amelia to be my life partner. I don’t know why, but both I and Velan agreed on this. I don’t know if I will ever be healed from my own misery, but she is my only salvation.” He tried to explain his thoughts, looking troubled, but firm on his voice.
“And this is also the only way to find that girl, Hunter. I owed her my life. We have far better medical facilities than anyone else in the whole world. It may be possible that our doctors find a way to cure her. My sins can’t be atoned, but she doesn’t deserve to live with constant misery and pain.” He added it in a serious tone.
“You are right.”
I was interrupted by the ringing of his phone. He took his phone out of his suit jacket’s inner pocket and frowned when he saw the caller ID.
I also frowned but he still took the call.
“Alexander. Something happened to Bernard. He…. He is brought t… to the hospital in the city in a very critical condition.” Caitlin screamed aloud while crying from the other end.
