Chapter 31 told him the reality
Marcus’s P.O.V. (Continued)
In front of me wasn’t the high and almighty King Alexander Thorne.
He was just a cruel man who assaulted a girl and left her at the brink of death.
I don’t care what he did after that to punish those monsters, but the fact was that Bernard was only stripped off his privileges.
He was still living a good life with a healthy body and was hurting Amelia one way or another.
“It… it’s not like that. I didn’t even remember what exactly happened that night. He stammered while looking at me with a painful gaze.
All…. All my memories are blurred, b… but I remembered that I promised her. I promised her that I would take care of her, b… but.” He stammered hard, speaking in a daze while Hunter helped him sit back on the couch.
“But your beloved nephew threw her to the animals to feast, King Alexander.” I taunted him aloud, still seething in anger.
“Even now, he tried to tarnish her reputation by making that incident public. Can’t you see what he is scheming?” I roared at him in a fit of rage this time.
“He didn’t know that it was us who took her away. He just shot an arrow in the dark to make you come after us. He tried to use you for his benefits back then and he is still using you just like a pawn that he wants you to be.” My words were harsh enough to make King Alexander kill me, taking them as an insult to him, but I was ready today to fight with him.
It’s not only about Amelia. Two hundred is not a small number if you see them individually.
All of them were the victims and our king did nothing to give them justice. He didn’t even try to find why more than two hundred werewolves became rogues over a short span of five years.
This is the number of alive rogues. No one knows how many died before they could get any help.
“That’s enough, Marcus. You don’t know everything.” Hunter yelled at me, and I scoffed aloud.
“Marcus.” I glared at Luca when he called my name in a warning tone when I was about to yell at Hunter.
I moved my back towards them, putting one hand on my waist and running the fingers of the other through my hair out of rage. I was still seething but got Luca’s warning.
“All I want right now is to attack him and let him feel how painful those days were for Amelia, but now we have a mate, and our pup is on the way. We can’t just go after him.” Cole spoke to me, giving a sensible reason why we shouldn’t go against the king right now, but he was seething too.
“Bernard brought that incident to the limelight just to make you go after us and also to refuse our proposal of forming a pack, King Alexander. You came after us and I am sure that you have already decided to reject our proposal. But this is not the end of everything for us.” I spoke to King Alexander in a calm voice.
I slowly moved towards us and sighed when I saw him still in distress, Hunter holding him by his shoulders.
He slowly looked at me in a daze. “How can we sure that she is still alive and what you told us about her physical health is right?” Hunter questioned and I scoffed in disdain.
“Luca.” I gestured for him to show Amelia’s medical history to them. I knew that they would not believe my words without any evidence. So, I brought everything that we had on Amelia for the treatment that she received in various humans’ clinics and a few small medical institutions opened by werewolves.
He went to the study table and took out a file from the bag that he put there earlier.
“As I told you, we don’t have money and medical resources to give her proper medical treatment. So, we took her to various human clinics and a charity hospital run by a rich rogue back then. You will find everything on her condition, including the photos of her battered body back then, but not her name.” I spoke to them in a cold tone and walked back to the couch.
I didn’t want to stay here anymore, but this chapter needed closure, or Amelia will always be under a threat of being haunted by them forever.
Luca gave Hunter that file instead of King Alexander. I watched Hunter open that file with a calm gaze.
His face went pale in sheer horror as soon as his gaze fell on the first page.
The page had a detailed list of all her injuries back then.
“This…. This…. You never told me what you did to her, Alex? How…. How could you forget th… that you ….you?” Hunter couldn’t speak and choked on his own saliva.
“I didn’t remember a thing, Hunter. I only saw blood all around my body and assumed th… that she would be badly injured.” I raised my brows in surprise while listening to his explanation.
“Why do you think t… that I ran out like a madman after I regained my senses?” he yelled at the top of his lungs, making me jerk my head backward in shock and disbelief.
Hunter threw the file on Alexander angrily, seething in anger, his canines almost cutting off his lower lip.
“This is just an injury? You called it badly injured?” Hunter roared while Alexander opened the file anxiously.
I closed my eyes as I didn’t want to see his reaction. I was sure that I would feel sympathy for him now if I were to see his reaction. Amelia always said that before she lost all her senses, she smelled very strong chemicals seeping out of his pores.
I lowered my head and rubbed my temple when I heard him growling aloud.
“This is a copy for you, King Alexander. You can find the addresses of all those medical institutions if you want to verify the authenticity of these documents. But you will never find her name. We never gave her real name to any of them because we didn’t know a thing about her back then. We got her name after three months when she woke up for a few minutes.” Luca spoke to King Alexander in a calm voice.
“I gave her my biological sister’s name back then, which was Lucia Ashford. I am telling you this so that you won’t get the wrong name. Lucia died six years ago. The humans don't have any record on us. So, it was easy to use her name back then,” he added this piece of information hurriedly.
I slowly opened my eyes and looked at King Alexander. His eyes were glued on the file, but I could see that he was in a daze. He didn’t hear a word that Luca said to him.
“Beta Hunter.” I called Hunter in a calm voice and slowly stood up.
