Chapter 30 felt wronged
Chapter 30 felt wronged
Amber’s P.O.V.
My heart was pounding hard against my ribcage. After Prince Lucian joined us for the training today, everyone wanted David and me to have a spar, but Prince Lucian insisted on having a spar with David.
I couldn't tell how scared I was when he asked David for a spar. It had been more than five years that David sparred with anyone else except Daniel and me.
So, I was so nervous that I almost fainted in fear.
Prince Lucian was nothing like Lucifer.
He was warm, and that killing smile of his was enough to make a woman melt down completely, but he was still the royal blood.
I had seen him fighting during that attack. He was no less than Lucifer.
So, I was scared to death.
But ever since the spar began, David dominated the fight, and now the match had reached the highest level of excitement.
I clapped my hands excitedly, cheering for David when he pinned Prince Lucian for the third time.
The whole ground was in an uproar, but most of them were in awe.
Ethan blew the final whistle and declared David the winner.
“David.” I yelled excitedly while running in his direction excitedly.
David looked in my direction and immediately raised his hands to catch me when I lunged at him without any hesitation.
He caught me hurriedly, and I wrapped my hands around his neck before kissing him on his cheek.
“My brother is the best," I announced excitedly.
I don’t remember when the last time was when I behaved so carefree.
Before coming here, I had always been walking on eggshells, but the people here brought back real Amber.
“Are you crazy?” David yelled at me, but I grinned widely.
He glared hard at me while holding me tightly.
We both narrowed our eyes at the same time when we felt a sudden tension in the room.
My heart skipped a beat when I realized that David had beaten Prince Lucian, and I cheered aloud in excitement.
David slowly put me down on the floor but didn’t release me from his embrace.
I lowered my eyes in embarrassment when I saw Prince Lucian’s darkened expression.
He was still standing close to us, and it’s not like I was afraid of him.
The thing is that it was our first meeting, and what I did was like blatant humiliation for him.
“My apologies, Prince Lucian. David stopped sparring years ago, a…. and I just got too excited to see him fighting again.” I apologized sincerely, bowing my head a little to show my respect to him.
I stiffened when he didn’t speak.
David was still holding me tightly, but he was calmer than me.
“What’s your age now, Amber?” Lucian asked me coldly.
I slowly looked up, confused by his question.
I gulped hard, tightening my grip on the hem of my trousers when I saw his cold and darkened expression.
“I beg your pardon, Prince Lucian, but I also didn’t remember when the last time was when she behaved so recklessly, so like the girl she used to around me and Daniel before.”
“Bro!” I exclaimed aloud in horror, looking at him with tearful eyes, filled with pleas.
His grip on my torso tightened and so did his jaw.
He immediately wiped my eyes and kissed my forehead after that.
“She didn’t mean to disrespect you, Prince Lucian.” David mumbled; his voice cracked a bit. His lips were still on my forehead.
I closed my eyes and let the comfort coming from his aura calm me down.
The silence in the room was suffocating.
I wanted to run away from here.
All the gazes were on me. Will they treat me the same after this?
In my excitement, I ruined the good life that I had built up here.
“I am sorry.” My breath hitched when Prince Lucian suddenly apologized in a low and rough voice.
It felt like his wolf was on the edge.
“I…. I know that I shouldn’t have reacted like that. It’s my fault fo….. for ruining this moment, guys.” He paused and took a deep breath, but I trembled in David’s embrace.
I don’t know why, but I wanted to stop him for apologizing.
“And you did a favor for the Dark Shadow Pack by not sparring with the people there. You would have killed most of them by now,” he joked, his voice coming back to the normal.
Yet, I didn’t feel relaxed.
“I guess not having a sister made things weird.” He added, a hint of awkwardness present in his voice this time.
“Yeah, of course. We never had a sister who cheered us this enthusiastically, or else I would have beaten your ass a few times.” Ethan also joked, making people laugh around us.
The suppression in the air subsided, but my heart was still hammering hard against my ribcage.
“Oh, come on, Amber! It’s not like I have ordered your execution. I am really sorry, okay?” Prince Lucian spoke frustratingly this time, making me whimper in the process.
I suddenly felt wronged.
“Hey, Amber.” David immediately pulled me onto his chest, hiding my face in his chest.
“Goddess, Amber! I am not a tyrant or a villain, okay? I ….. I really don’t know wh… why I reacted that way.. I… I was just …. Just.” Prince Lucian started yelling in panic, and I whimpered more.
This was the first time I shed tears in public after that incident, and instead of feeling embarrassed, I wanted to yell back at Prince Lucian.
“She…. I guess homesickness did a number on her. Please excuse us, Prince Lucian," David told him in a panicked tone.
“Take him outside, David. She has her room in the packhouse. You can go there for now. I will find you guys later.” Ethan instructed David hurriedly.
David started dragging me away with her.
“What’s wrong with you, Amber? He said that he didn’t mean to be that cold,” David said to through mind-link, still holding me tightly.
How could I tell him what exactly was wrong with me?
Even when Adrian humiliated me so many times in the past, I never felt this way.
And the irony is that Prince Lucian didn’t humiliate me.
He was just not happy with the way I yelled.
I didn’t know for how long he dragged me with him.
I just continued crying on his chest, my face still hidden in his chest.
He stopped at some point and slowly moved me away from him.
“Now, stop crying and tell me what happened.” David asked me coaxingly while wiping my face with his hands.
“I don’t know, bro. I really don’t know. I….. I just felt wrong.” I told him truthfully while sniffing and taking hiccups.
"Tell me the truth, Amber. Do they mistreat you?" David asked me in a stern voice.
I immediately shook my head.
"No, bro. They treat so well, a... and it's my first time meeting with Prince Lucian ever since I came here," I explained to him, still taking hiccups.
