Chapter 119 0119
Chapter 119 0119
“Zane!” I screamed in panic as I rushed toward the bed immediately. My heart pounded violently inside my chest while my trembling hands touched the blanket desperately, hoping maybe my eyes were deceiving me. Maybe he had only rolled to the other side of the bed or hidden under the blanket while sleeping.
But he wasn’t there.
The bed was completely empty.
Cold fear instantly rushed through my entire body so strongly that my legs nearly gave out beneath me. My breathing became uneven as I stared blankly at the empty bed, unable to believe what I was seeing. Just a little while ago, I had personally tucked my son into this same bed. He had been sleeping when I left him.
So where was he now?
“No… no…” I whispered shakily while backing away from the bed.
Without wasting another second, I immediately rushed through the connected door leading into my room, hoping maybe he had somehow wandered there after waking up.
“Zane!” I called desperately while searching every corner of the room. “Zane!”
But there was no response.
The room was empty.
At that moment, true panic completely consumed me.
I rushed back into his room, my entire body trembling badly as tears instantly filled my eyes. The horrible feeling inside my chest only grew stronger with every passing second.
“Asher…” I cried brokenly while turning toward him. “My baby is gone.”
My voice cracked painfully at the last word as tears spilled heavily down my cheeks. I could barely breathe properly anymore. Fear was swallowing me alive.
Asher immediately walked toward me and pulled me into his arms tightly. I could feel the tension in his own body, but he still tried to remain calm.
“Calm down,” he said while holding me. “We’ll find him. Just calm down.”
I immediately pushed against his chest angrily while crying harder.
“Calm down?” I repeated painfully. “You’re telling me to calm down when my son is missing?”
My entire body shook violently as panic completely took over my mind.
“They took him, Asher,” I cried helplessly. “Someone took my baby.”
Just thinking about Zane being alone somewhere terrified me beyond words. He was still so small. What if he was scared? What if someone hurt him? What if Drevan already had him?
The thought alone nearly drove me insane.
Asher’s face darkened immediately as worry and anger flashed through his eyes. Without wasting another second, he stormed out of the room and ordered every single guard in the pack to begin searching immediately.
The entire pack house instantly turned chaotic.
But hours passed…
And Zane was nowhere to be found.
Not inside the mansion.
Not outside the pack grounds.
Nowhere.
The more time passed, the more my sanity slowly began slipping away. Every second without seeing my son felt like torture. I could barely think properly anymore as endless horrible thoughts flooded my head.
What if he was crying for me right now?
What if he was hurt?
What if I never saw him again?
“No…” I whispered brokenly while shaking my head repeatedly. “No… no…”
I felt like I was truly going crazy.
Eventually, my legs could no longer carry me properly anymore, and I slowly made my way back to my room like an empty shell. The moment I stepped inside, I collapsed onto the bed and broke down completely.
Painful sobs escaped my lips nonstop while tears soaked the blanket beneath me.
Why was all of this happening to me?
It felt like darkness was swallowing everything around me little by little.
Asher eventually entered the room again after searching outside personally, but the look on his face already told me everything before he even spoke.
They still hadn’t found Zane.
Fresh tears streamed heavily down my face as I cried harder into the bed.
Asher slowly sat beside me before pulling me gently into his arms. “We’ll find him,” Asher whispered against my hair, though I could hear the fear hidden deep inside his voice too. “I swear to you, Mira… I will bring our son back.”
Mila remained inside her room with a satisfied smile resting on her lips. She sat calmly in front of her mirror, slowly brushing her hair as if nothing had happened, yet deep inside her heart she was celebrating wildly. She was the one who had secretly helped Griffin sneak Zane out of the pack without anyone noticing. Knowing that the child was now on his way to Drevan filled her with relief she had not felt in a long time. For days she had lived in fear of Zane because of the strange power surrounding him, but now she believed that fear would finally disappear forever once Drevan killed him.
A soft laugh escaped her lips as she leaned back against the chair. The image of Mira crying over her missing son made Mila feel victorious. To her, Mira deserved every pain she was feeling. Ever since Mira returned to Silver Pack, everything had changed. Asher’s attention shifted completely away from her, and all he cared about now was Mira and Zane. Mila hated it deeply. She hated the way Asher looked at Mira with love in his eyes, something he had never once done to her in all their years together.
Mila slowly stood up from the chair and walked toward the window of her room. Outside, she could see guards running around with lanterns, searching every corner of the pack for Zane. Mila smirked coldly at the sight. They would never find him here. By now Griffin would already be far away from Silver Pack. Even if the guards chased after him immediately, it would already be too late.
“Soon everything will return to normal,” Mila whispered to herself with a dark smile. “
However, while Mila was secretly celebrating in her room, Asher's in his office was completely in rage and fear filled the air heavily. Asher stood beside his desk, breathing hard while his fists trembled violently. His eyes were red with anger. He could not stop blaming himself for allowing Griffin into Silver Pack in the first place. The elders had warned him. Even Dax had warned him too, but he ignored them all because Griffin appeared loyal and harmless. Now his foolishness had cost him his son.
The office door suddenly burst open, and Dax rushed inside looking exhausted from searching everywhere. Sweat covered his forehead as he tried to catch his breath.
“We searched the entire pack grounds,” Dax said heavily. “The borders, the forest paths, the guards’ quarters… everywhere. There is still no sign of Zane or Griffin.”
The moment Asher heard those words, something inside him snapped completely. With a furious growl, he slammed his fist hard against the desk, causing papers, books to crash violently onto the floor. His wolf was raging wildly inside him, making it difficult for him to think clearly
“Damn it!” Asher roared angrily as he began pacing around the office like a dangerous beast trapped in a cage. His chest rose and fell heavily while his mind filled with terrifying thoughts of what Drevan might do to Zane.
Dax remained silent for a moment before finally speaking carefully. “What do we do now?”
Asher suddenly stopped walking. His expression darkened dangerously before he slowly turned toward Dax.
“Prepare the carriage,” Asher said coldly. “We leave tomorrow morning.”
Dax frowned in confusion. “Leave? Leave for where?”
“To Shadowfang Pack.”
Those words immediately made the atmosphere inside the office grow heavier. Dax stared at Asher in shock, unable to believe what he had just heard. He quickly walked closer to him.
“Asher, think carefully about this,” Dax said seriously. “You know what Drevan is capable of. This could be a trap. After all these years, he finally has something you care about. He wants you to come after him.”
“I don’t care,” Asher growled fiercely. “If Drevan dares touch my son, I swear I will tear him apart with my own hands.”
“But rushing there blindly could start another war—”
“Dax!” Asher snapped loudly, cutting him off. “Do what I ordered.”
Dax sighed heavily, knowing there was no changing Asher’s mind once he reached this state. He bowed his head slightly before turning and leaving the office.
Once the door closed, silence filled the room again. Asher slowly dropped back into his chair and buried his face inside his hands. For the first time in years, memories of Drevan flooded back into his mind clearly. Long ago, before hatred destroyed everything, they had once been like brothers. They trained together, hunted together, laughed together. But after Drevan became Alpha, darkness slowly consumed him. He became violent and power hungry, attacking even his own people just to expand his rule. Asher tried countless times to stop him peacefully, but Drevan refused to listen.
Then came the war between them.
The memory still haunted Asher deeply. During the battle, blinded by rage and grief after losing many of his own warriors, he had angrily killed Drevan’s mate. Drevan’s scream that day still echoed in his mind even now. After the war ended, Drevan disappeared and built Shadowfang Pack elsewhere. Since then, Asher had not heard from him again… until now.
Asher clenched his fists tightly. “So after all these years… this is your revenge,” he murmured bitterly.
Suddenly, Mira’s tearful face appeared inside his mind. Without wasting another second, Asher quickly stood up and left the office. He needed to see her immediately.
When he arrived at Mira’s room and pushed the door open, he realized the room was empty. His heart tightened instantly. Then faint sobbing reached his ears from the connected room.
Zane’s room.
Asher quickly walked through the connecting door and immediately froze at the heartbreaking sight before him. Mira sat on the floor beside Zane’s empty bed, hugging herself tightly while crying uncontrollably.
“Mira…” Asher whispered softly as he slowly walked toward her.
The moment she looked up at him, her swollen red eyes filled with fresh tears again. “My baby…” she cried brokenly. “I want my baby back.”
Asher’s chest tightened painfully. He immediately sat beside her on the floor and pulled her gently into his arms. He hated seeing her like this. Every tear she cried felt like knives stabbing into his chest.
“He’ll be okay,” Asher whispered while holding her tightly. “I promise you… I will bring him back.”
Mira shook her head helplessly as more tears rolled down her cheeks. “Please… please bring my son back to me.”
Asher slowly pulled back just enough to cup her face carefully inside his hands. He looked deeply into her tear-filled eyes before speaking.
“I’m going to Shadowfang Pack tomorrow,” he said. “I’ll face Drevan myself if I have to. I will bring Zane back no matter what.”
Fear instantly filled Mira’s face. She grabbed Asher’s hands tightly. “No,” she whispered shakily. “Drevan hates you… he’s going to kill you.”
Asher gave a bitter smile. “Then so be it. I don’t care what happens to me as long as Zane returns safely.”
Hearing those words only made Mira cry harder. She shook her head repeatedly before suddenly speaking through her tears.
“Then I’m coming with you.”
Asher immediately refused. “No. It’s too dangerous.”
“I don’t care!” Mira cried. “That’s my son too. I’m not staying behind while you go alone.”
Asher stared at her silently for a long moment before pulling her tightly into his chest again. Mira buried her face against him and broke down completely while he held her close.
