Chapter 85; Unknown call

Adam's pov

Right on, let's go with that! "I was tired of talking about things I didn't know anything about, so I decided to change the subject. "It's been a long day," I said. "I think I need to get some sleep." He looked at me, a little disappointed, but he understood. "Of course," he said. "Make sure you take your drugs and sleep well," I said, and he left, closing the door behind him

I made my way down the hallway, my mind still racing with all of the thoughts and questions from my conversation with him. I reached my room and closed the door behind me. I was exhausted, and I quickly changed into my pajamas. I climbed into bed and closed my eyes. In just a few moments, I was sound asleep.

A few hours later, I was abruptly woken up from a deep sleep. I sat up in bed, my heart racing, unsure of what had woken me up. I got out of bed and walked to the desk in my room. I turned on my laptop, hoping to distract myself from the mystery of what had disturbed my sleep.

As I sat down in front of my computer, the bright screen illuminating my face, I began to feel calmer. But as I opened my web browser, I saw something on the screen that made my heart start racing again. There was a notification from a social media account that I hadn't used in a long time. It was a message from someone I hadn't heard from in years

My eyes widened as I saw the sender's name. It was someone I'd been hoping to hear from for a long time, someone I'd almost given up on hearing from ever again. I clicked on the message, wondering what it could say. But as I read the words on the screen, I felt a wave of shock and disbelief wash over me.

The message was short, but it packed a punch. It was from someone I'd had a falling out with years ago, someone I thought I'd never hear from again. The message was simple, but it was enough to send my mind spinning. I read it over and over again, trying to process what it meant. But no matter how many times I read it, the words were the same. I had no idea what to do next.

I forced myself to put the message out of my mind. I knew that I couldn't dwell on it right now, not when I had so much work to do. I opened up my email inbox and started to go through the messages that were waiting for me. I had a lot to catch up on, and I knew that I needed to stay focused.

The shrill sound of my phone ringing pierced the silence of the room, and I jumped. I reached for the phone, my hand trembling slightly as I picked it up. I saw the number on the screen, it was an unknown number

I heard a voice on the other end of the line, but it wasn't the voice I expected. "Maxwell?" I said, confused. "It's me," he replied, his voice sounding urgent. "I need your help, and I need it now." I sat up straighter in my chair, feeling a sense of alarm wash over me. "What's wrong?" I asked, my heart starting to race. "I can't explain right now,"

"OK, but I'm only coming to help you on one condition, You'll have to release my kids to me," I said

There was a long pause on the other end of the line, and I wondered if Maxwell was going to refuse my terms. But then, he said, "Fine. I'll release them to you if you come and help me." His voice was resigned, and I could tell that he was desperate. I made a decision, one that I knew could change everything. "I'll come," I said. "I'll leave right away."

Saving Maxwell would be a piece of cake! I called my beta and he agreed to come with me. We drove to Maxwell's cabin, deep in the woods. As we drove, I couldn't shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen. I couldn't put my finger on it, but I knew that this wasn't going to be as easy as we thought. But I had to try. I had to help Maxwell, no matter what because my kids

As we got out of the car, I noticed a chill in the air. The woods were silent, and it felt like we were the only two people for miles. I felt a sense of foreboding, but I pushed it aside. I had to focus on the task at hand. We walked up the stairs to the porch, and I knocked on the door. There was no response, so I knocked again, louder this time. I heard a noise from inside, and then the door opened a crack.

We were attacked but we were able to fight back. As the last rouge wolf fell to the ground, I turned to Maxwell. He was still in a daze, but I could see the relief in his eyes. "We need to get out of here," I said, helping him to his feet. He nodded, and we made our way out of the cabin. We got into the car and sped off, leaving the wolves behind us. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, and I was grateful that we had made it out alive.

We drove for what felt like hours, until we reached the edge of the woods. I breathed a sigh of relief as we emerged into the sunlight. I turned to Maxwell, who was still looking a little dazed. "Are you okay" I asked. He nodded, and then he said something that took me by surprise. "Thank you," he said.
