Chapter 93 ARRIVING IN FOUR DAYS
Edeline
It couldn’t have been me in the vision—I’m already mated to Percival. If Alpha William is the father of one of Mom’s children, it wouldn’t be me. Wolves who are blood-related don’t mate, even under the moonlight. But Nixx… Nixx being paired with Tatiana suddenly made sense. Maybe Tatiana is telling the truth about being Alpha blood, which would explain so much…
My brother could be destined to be the Alpha…
It also highlights the significant growth he’s undergone. The dynamics between individuals in relationships, especially when one person holds so much influence over another, can be fascinating. His undefeated record during beta training... It’s no surprise, considering betas would fall short of his actual strength.
“Oh my goodness.” My hand flew to my mouth as the realization hit me. What we all thought about Tatiana... it’s actually true about my brother. My step sibling. I’m in a relationship with my half-brother's half-brother.
What on earth.
“I have to go, Mirabelle. You can find your way out. And thanks... I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I have a feeling things are about to get messy.” I stammered hurriedly, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. She looked stunned as I rushed out of the room, on my way to meet the Alpha.
Guess it’s time to have that dreaded conversation. And after that, I need to talk to him too...
I sprinted along the dusty path, wolves watching me with wide eyes as I passed by. Their gazes were fixed on me—word of this morning’s incident was spreading fast. It seemed like everyone knew. Eventually, someone would’ve come looking for me, no doubt. But now, I was choosing to confront the situation head-on.
I was fuming at the mere possibility that this could be true... Frustrated with my mom, with Alpha William... How could they let this happen to my father? And Luna! Did she know that Nixx could be his son? I didn’t have solid proof, but my gut was screaming that this was the case.
Pushing myself to move faster, I burst into the packhouse and headed straight for Alpha William’s office on the upper floor.
Just as I was about to knock, his voice boomed from inside, “Come in, Edeline.”
My hand paused on the gold knob as my heart pounded in my chest. But beyond that, I didn’t feel much else. No fear, no anxiety... Just a strange calm. There’s nothing to worry about, I told myself. Nothing to be afraid of.
I stepped into the room, locking eyes with Alpha William immediately. His intense gaze and stern expression left no doubt—he was furious.
“Please, have a seat,” he said, standing as I walked in. I took the chair in front of his desk, casually brushing my waist-length hair to one side. He was restless, his hands constantly moving, but eventually, he turned to face me, leaning over the desk, looming above my calm exterior.
“What on earth have you done? Do you even realize the consequences? Tatiana’s father has been informed, and he’s planning to come earlier than expected because of what happened to his daughter. He’ll be arriving in four days, Edeline. It seems he’s determined to take drastic measures and make sure his son marks her,” he shouted, his anger palpable, his wolf instincts simmering just beneath the surface. But his control... it was stronger than anyone else’s.
I narrowed my eyes slightly, determined not to let anger consume me this time. "She provoked me, Alpha. My wolf—this is the third time she’s done it. And still, no one does anything! She’s allowed to wander around, stirring up trouble, and everyone just looks the other way. Do you know what she’s found? Things she discovered miles away, deep in the woods by the lake—weeks before you even banned us from leaving. That means she must have followed him, out of curiosity or... to see if we’d been together." My voice grew sharper as I stared him down.
"With all due respect, it seems like you’re in the dark about what’s really going on. This woman is playing you, and you’re too close to see it. My wolf wants her gone, and I’m barely holding that back. But you’re letting her roam free, acting like she’s untouchable because she’s carrying your bloodline. There’s chaos brewing, Alpha—wolves are already plotting to overthrow Percival if he chooses her. She’s determined to see me punished, but my wolf had to teach her a lesson. I trust you understand why that had to happen." I watched him closely as he exhaled deeply, running a hand through his hair.
"Edeline," he began, his tone softening. "I don’t want to do this, but when her father arrives, I’ll have no choice but to confine you to the cellars as punishment for attacking a member. I need time—time to expose Tatiana and her father through an alpha test, to prove she’s not who she claims to be. Until then, I’m bound by the rules."
I couldn’t help it—I burst out laughing, eyes twinkling with amusement as I looked up at him, a mischievous smile curling on my lips. He gave me a confused look, as if I’d completely lost it.
"Alpha, just a little reminder... Punishment is only for when a pack member attacks another pack member. But Tatiana? She’s not part of our pack. She’s not even a guest. She was brought here against her will, by her father, who basically forced her on you. Technically, she’s a refugee. And as we all know, refugees don’t get the same rights as others. Feel free to check the rules if you don’t believe me." I watched as a small, almost reluctant smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, surprised by my cleverness.
"And one more thing..." I leaned forward, locking eyes with him, my tone ice-cold, not a hint of remorse. "I’m pretty sure you were involved with my mother before she got pregnant with Nixx." I let the words hang in the air, watching as his surprise flickered across his face. He swallowed hard.
