Chapter 140 UNVEILING THE AFFAIR
Edeline
The Beta’s name was Ben.
A strong, acrid odor filled the air as I moved around Percival for a better view. I noticed a growing wet spot on Ben’s pants, his eyes wide with terror as the pressure on his throat increased.
“Hey, everyone! Hold up!” William shouted, trying to regain control of the situation. But Conor’s wolf was beyond reason, paying no mind to the pleas from behind him. Anita, restrained by silver handcuffs and held firmly by Alpha William and Dad, was blissfully unaware of the growing threat she posed to me as we focused on the enraged Alpha.
I watched the chaos unfold with a sense of detachment. I was bracing myself, trying to stay calm despite the turmoil. I had sensed that things would spiral out of control, but I couldn’t predict which wolf would make the first move.
I was dazed, my eyes fixed on Conor as he pressed his Beta against the wall, his grip tightening around the Beta’s throat.
“You’re in for it now!” Conor roared. With a furious burst of strength, he slammed the Beta’s head into the wall with such force that it broke through the drywall, leaving a gaping hole.
“No!” Tatiana’s voice was a high-pitched cry as she quickly moved away from the wall, tugging at Conor’s arm. Her attempt to intervene was met with Conor’s fierce, wolf-like glare. He growled lowly at her, his gaze unyielding, his lips curling in a snarl as he playfully nipped at her hand. The unexpected reaction left Tatiana reeling, her shock evident.
Mom and Luna sat in opposite corners, their eyes locked on the scene unfolding before them. They observed with a tense focus, not daring to intervene.
A hand gently wrapped around my waist, sending a shiver through me. It was Percival’s, his thumb lifting the hem of my shirt slightly. The touch was soothing, his fingers brushing against my exposed skin as he wiped away the blood that had trickled down my cheek. I slowly pulled away from his touch, my heart racing.
“Daddy, please! I’ll tell you everything! Just don’t hurt him!” The terrified blonde’s voice trembled as she pleaded with Alpha Conor, her eyes wide with fear. Ben gasped and gurgled as Conor’s claws dug into his neck.
Conor’s face hardened, his eyes narrowing. “I’m not your father, kid,” he growled, his voice harsh and unforgiving. “If you want to save his life, you better start talking.”
Tatiana nodded quickly, biting her lip to hold back tears. She knew what was at stake. Conor released Ben, letting him collapse to the ground, unconscious.
“Tatiana, no!” Anita’s voice was desperate, filled with a new sense of fear. “He’s going to kill us anyway, Tatiana! Can’t you see that?” Her defiant tone was now replaced with a genuine plea. I couldn’t help but smirk internally at the sight of Anita, usually so composed, now so visibly distraught.
Tatiana shook her head as she watched Ben lying unconscious on the floor. “It’s important that he’s aware. And so should everyone else.”
Anita shook her head vigorously, her desperation evident. “Don’t, Tatiana! Ben won’t make it either!” Tears streamed down her cheeks, her usual stoicism shattered by raw emotion. It was the first time I had seen her so vulnerable, her normally impassive face now marred by deep sadness.
Conor emitted a low, frustrated rumble from his chest. “Can someone please quiet her down?” His voice was filled with irritation, clearly overwhelmed by the chaos and the emotional outbursts around him.
Several volunteers sprang from their seats, eager to carry out Conor’s orders. Nixx was the first to respond, casually returning with a roll of duct tape. He approached Anita, and within moments, she found herself restrained. Her wrists were bound tightly, and her mouth was sealed with the tape, preventing any further interruptions as Tatiana prepared to reveal her story.
Tatiana, though innocent, was clearly shaken. Both Anita and I knew that Alpha Conor had no intention of sparing Ben's life, a fact that weighed heavily on us.
As Tatiana glanced at Anita, who was now eerily quiet with tears streaming down her face, it was clear that things had taken a grim turn.
Tatiana took a deep breath and carefully took her seat, placing her hands gently on her thighs. With a slight tremor in her voice, she closed her eyes for a moment, gathering her thoughts. She seemed unsteady, her usual composure giving way to the gravity of the situation.
"So, um, I always thought that you and Mom were my parents," she began hesitantly. "But everything changed on my 17th birthday. You gave me Mom's journal, the one she used to keep. And when I opened it..." Her voice faltered as her eyes widened, a single tear rolling down her blushing cheek. "A letter fell out. It was sealed in an envelope addressed to me on my 17th birthday. It was from Mom." Her voice cracked with emotion.
Conor remained still, his brows furrowed slightly, his eyes fixed on Tatiana as she spoke.
She continued, her gaze remaining focused on the floor. "The letter started with her expressing her love for me and apologizing. She revealed something I never expected—that you were not my biological father, but Ben was. She confessed to having an affair with him, explaining that it was because of your lack of affection. According to her, when you first met, you didn’t recognize her worth. You made her work hard to earn the title of your Luna. She felt exhausted and emotionally drained, seeing other females come and go from your room, leaving her lonely. That’s when she turned to Ben, and their affair began." She glanced briefly at the unconscious figure of Ben on the ground. "It was clear it happened during her heat, which is how she got pregnant. She realized she was pregnant after the second day and seduced you, even though she was repulsed by the scents of other females on you. She did it to hide her affair. When I was born, she claimed you were overjoyed, but Ben knew I was his. That’s probably why he’s always made an effort to be part of my life, to get to know me." Her voice was soft and filled with sorrow.
