Chapter 139 TENSION AND WRATH

Chapter 139 TENSION AND WRATH
Edeline

The room fell into an uneasy silence as everyone watched the small droplet of blood well up on her finger. Conor, with an air of nonchalance, took the dropper and filled it with the blood. He then let the drop fall onto the specially made testing kit designed for alpha blood. As he did so, he shot me a sharp glare.

“Looks like it is your turn now,” Conor sneered, his gaze now shifting to Nixx.

Nixx, unfazed by the tension, casually picked up the letter opener and pricked his own finger. He allowed a sample of his blood to fall onto the test that Dad held. The room was thick with anticipation as we waited in complete silence.

“Hey, Conor,” Luna Annabel said in a calm tone. “I think it is about time,” she added, her relaxed demeanor hiding a clear awareness of the situation. She cast a brief, knowing glance at me from the corner of her eye.

Conor's eyes remained locked on the test, his focus unwavering. Tatiana and Anita exchanged glances, a shared sense of unease hanging between them.

“So, what is the deal with one line?” Conor's voice cut through the silence, filling the room with tension. He looked up at William, his jaw clenched tightly.

William, his voice barely above a whisper, murmured, “She does not come from an alpha lineage.”

The room erupted in surprise. Conor, stunned, abruptly stood up, causing his chair to crash to the floor. His knees hit the edge of the table, and he slammed his fist down with a force that rattled the surface. His intense gaze was fixed on Tatiana, who began to shake with fear. The response from Conor was palpable, and it was clear that his creature was unsettled.

Everyone’s jaws dropped in shock, their faces reflecting the sudden realization. I glanced over at Percival, and then at Luna. We had all made an educated guess, but now it was confirmed. The truth was out, and I felt a mix of relief and discomfort. I understood why my friend had ended up with another woman pregnant. Conor’s frustration was now evident. It dawned on him that he was indeed entangled with a difficult situation. I could feel a tinge of irritation beginning to settle within me.

What struck me, however, was that Conor’s Beta remained completely unfazed throughout the chaos.

“What is going on here, Tatiana? Did you know about this, Anita?” Conor’s voice was low and menacing, his eyes burning with a dangerous intensity as he fixed them on the two women. His glare was fierce, the threat in his gaze unmistakable. Anita wore a blank mask of indifference, ignoring the mounting tension. Tatiana, on the other hand, was in tears, her sobs echoing through the room as she gently cradled her swollen belly.

“Hey Dad, I—”

“I am not your father! Who is her father, Anita!? I know you know!” Conor’s frustration boiled over. He glared at Anita with a mixture of fury and desperation. It was clear that he believed she held crucial information. Anita cast me a skeptical look from across the table, her teeth clenched.

I observed her intently, my attention fully on the unfolding drama. The room remained stunned, everyone watching in stunned silence as the situation reached a boiling point.

Out of nowhere, Anita lunged at me across the table. Her sharp claws and bared teeth descended as she leapt over the wooden surface with a feral grace. She emitted low, guttural growls from her throat, her desperation palpable. Her claw swiped at me, catching me completely off guard. The pain was immediate and intense, shooting through my cheek.

I recoiled in shock, jerking away so abruptly that my chair crashed into the wall. Chaos erupted as people scrambled to their feet, chairs scraping and crashing into walls. My dad and Alpha William moved swiftly, grabbing Anita by the scruff and restraining her by her wrists. Percival positioned himself protectively in front of me, his growl resonating with a fierce determination, like a wolf soaring into the sky.

Conor watched with a contemplative expression, his eyes narrowed in focus.

Anita was frantic, her lip curled back and teeth bared as she made another wild attempt to reach me. Her dark eyes were locked on mine, their intensity almost tangible. I stared back, stunned, as the room filled with a charged silence.

“Anita! Hold on!” Conor’s voice was commanding, his wolf barely contained. His anger was palpable, his fists clenched and veins bulging beneath his skin as he registered the secret she was hiding.

Tatiana slumped back into her chair, tears streaming down her face. Conor’s Beta cast her a meaningful look, and that’s when it all fell into place for me.

“Your Beta is the father…” I murmured, my hand instinctively flying to my mouth as I took a step back, trying to ignore the throbbing pain and the bloodied mark on my cheek. Nixx’s test had been completely forgotten.

The room seemed to hold its breath. Conor’s gaze snapped to mine, his expression a mix of fury and disbelief. “What did you just say?” His voice was a growl, and his anger was building as he saw the truth unraveling before him. Anita, now thrashing more violently, had inadvertently revealed her secret.

Tatiana’s eyes shot up to me, filled with animosity, reflecting the Beta’s own anger. The realization that he was indeed her father was clear.

“You little jerk!” Conor’s friend seethed, taking a step toward the table, his frustration evident. Percival stood firm in front of me, drawing the attention of the Beta’s supporters.

The atmosphere was electric with tension. Growls erupted from my side of the table as Conor turned to confront his Beta. Gripping the Beta’s neck tightly, Conor shoved him against the wall with a force that sent a shiver through the room. The Beta’s eyes widened in shock as Conor’s transformation began, his claws piercing the tender flesh of the Beta’s throat.

“Hey, um, just wondering… is this actually true?” Conor shouted, his voice filled with rage and spittle flying from his mouth. “I mean, I’m really upset right now, Ben. Can you please explain what happened to my late friend?” His voice carried a distinct lack of mercy, his gaze intense and gold-flecked as his inner wolf yearned for retribution.
