Chapter 258 Christopher's Entertainment Project
Chapter 258 Christopher's Entertainment Project
"I thought you wouldn't show up," Christopher drawled, lounging lazily on the couch. His eyes roved over her red hair and casual outfit with unabashed interest, a playful smirk curling his lips beneath his mask. "Ms. Medici, you look even more enchanting today than you do on set."
"Thanks for the compliment," Cecilia replied coolly, narrowing her eyes as she stood before Christopher's booth, looking down at him. "How could I refuse an invitation from Mr. Taylor?"
Christopher shrugged lightly. "Aren't you afraid I'll kidnap you?"
Cecilia chuckled softly, taking a seat across from him, crossing her long legs with a slight smile. "If you think you can."
Christopher's smile deepened, and he spread his hands in a nonchalant gesture. "Don't be like that. I just want to be friends."
Cecilia didn't respond, simply observing him quietly.
He took a drag from his cigarette, exhaling a plume of smoke slowly. Seeing her silence, he signaled the bartender for another drink.
A moment later, a glass of deep red liquid was placed in front of Cecilia, a single red rose petal floating on the surface like a drop of blood, both beautiful and dangerous.
"Care to try?" Christopher raised an eyebrow and said, "It's a special mix called 'Blood Rose.'"
Cecilia's eyes flickered as she swirled her Mojito, the ice clinking softly against the glass. "No thanks, I don't handle alcohol well."
"Is that so? What a pity." Christopher didn't seem bothered. He took a sip from his own glass, then looked past Cecilia to a corner of the room. "Are you interested in anything else, Ms. Medici?"
Cecilia frowned, following his gaze. In a nearby booth, a group of young people lounged on the sofas, eyes glazed over as they smoked. White powder and foil littered the table. Her pupils contracted slightly.
"Ms. Medici, you recognize them, don't you?" Christopher's voice floated over. "After all, they were your classmates at Feynman University."
Cecilia's fingers tightened imperceptibly. Christopher had indeed investigated her background. Though her attendance at Feynman University wasn't a secret, having it pointed out by him made her uncomfortable.
Christopher's smile widened as he watched her reaction, his tone still casual. "Young people like to have fun. It's normal to dabble in things they shouldn't."
Cecilia glanced disdainfully at the wild youths and said, "Mr. Taylor, your definition of 'normal' is quite unique."
She paused, her gaze growing colder. "Or should I say, this is just part of the Taylor family's business? Encouraging these rich kids to get hooked on drugs, then blackmailing them for profit. Mr. Taylor, you play a dirty game."
Christopher's eyes narrowed dangerously, but he laughed softly. "Someone like you wouldn't understand."
"But you got one thing wrong. I'm not the one encouraging them. They do it willingly. It's just a matter of mutual benefit." He crossed his legs, his expression indifferent. "Let me give you another piece of news. Wilmer spent a lot of money trying to take you and Julian down. He wanted to partner with me, but I refused."
His dark red eyes glinted ominously in the dim, hazy light, a meaningful smile playing on his lips.
Cecilia discreetly pinched her thigh to steady her nerves, meeting his gaze head-on.
"I've said it before, I admire your intelligence and courage." Christopher leaned forward suddenly, grabbing her wrist.
Cecilia flinched, instinctively trying to pull away, but his fingers pressed on a barely visible needle mark on her vein. "I'm surprised you survived after we injected you with the new drug. No, I should say I'm delighted."
"Join us, and I'll tell you everything you want to know, just like today."
Cecilia's lips curled into a mocking smile. It was almost laughable.
She hadn't even figured out her own secrets, yet these irrelevant people were obsessed with the Medici family's secrets in Skyview City.
"Seems like Mr. Taylor really tried to kill me before. How heartbreaking." She feigned a pout, taking a slow sip of her drink. "I wouldn't dare join such a dangerous family."
Cecilia lowered her gaze, calculating silently. Christopher's actions practically confirmed he was behind the rampant drug trade in Skyview City.
But why was he doing this?
In her previous life, Christopher's influence hadn't reached Skyview City at this point. If she handed this evidence to the police, they could still take action against him, even if it wasn't in the same area.
Wasn't he afraid?
Cecilia's frown deepened.
Suddenly, a loud crash of breaking glass echoed from nearby. A blond youth flipped a table, his eyes bloodshot, saliva dripping from his mouth. He grabbed a broken bottle, swinging it wildly amidst the screams.
"Die! All of you, die! You're all idiots!"
He roared, oblivious to the glass cutting his arm, blood dripping onto the neon-lit floor like a string of eerie rubies.
A waiter tried to intervene, only to be struck on the head with the bottle, blood gushing instantly.
The crowd scattered in panic, overturning tables and chairs in their haste.
Cecilia's fingers instinctively reached for the knife hidden at her waist.
"Don't move." Christopher noticed her movement, gently pressing her wrist, his voice disturbingly cheerful. "The show is just beginning."
"Since I invited Ms. Medici, I had to prepare some entertainment, right?"
Cecilia glared at him, her amber eyes filled with disbelief and disgust. "Disgusting."
Christopher didn't seem offended, his smile widening as if he was in a great mood.
In the next moment, the youth lunged at a small boy who had fallen, the bloodied bottle raised high.
Just as he was about to strike, a shadow flashed by. A long-haired man in white appeared, his hand chopping the youth's neck with precision.
The youth collapsed, the broken bottle rolling away. The boy trembled as he stood, then ran off, shaking.
Cecilia finally exhaled, realizing her palms had crescent-shaped marks from her nails.
"Your classmate will probably be grounded by his father for a while." Christopher chuckled, tilting his head slightly to look at the man in white. "What do you think of his skills?"
