Chapter 55 Isabella Must Never Disappear from His Sight Again
Gabriel's appearance attracted a lot of attention.
Gabriel was very handsome. Even the ordinary international class uniform looked like designer clothing on him, and quite a few girls had crushes on him.
"Isabella, is this your brother?" Violet nudged Isabella's arm slightly.
Gabriel heard this and shot them a cold look. "Who said I'm her brother? I only have one sister—Bianca!"
"Don't think that just because everyone online is saying Isabella is our family's biological daughter, she can replace Bianca. Bianca is the Taylor family's only daughter."
"As for Isabella..." Gabriel paused, then said disdainfully, "She's nothing."
There had been a lot of gossip at school today, all badmouthing Bianca.
All of this was caused by Isabella.
If she hadn't posted the truth online, Bianca wouldn't be the subject of all this talk.
Gabriel absolutely hated Isabella right now.
Not far away, Elizabeth and others from Class 10 watched this scene with satisfaction.
Zoey's eyes gleamed with amusement. "What did I tell you? Who does she think she is? Even her own brother won't acknowledge her."
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, looking at Isabella with added contempt.
And here she thought Isabella was some noble swan, but turns out she's just an ugly duckling.
Isabella coldly shoved Gabriel aside. "Get out of my way!"
Gabriel stumbled back a step, staring at Isabella's retreating figure, stunned.
In front of all these people, she treated him like this?
Gabriel's temper flared up. "Isabella, what's with that attitude?"
"This is my attitude. Don't bother me."
Isabella's tall figure was exceptionally cold.
——
As Isabella walked, she lowered her head slightly and unlocked her phone.
There were two messages from William.
One was a location pin near the school.
The other said "Come here."
Isabella understood—he wanted her to meet him at that location.
Isabella frowned.
Even colder than her?
Isabella touched her nose and sent back a very obedient emoji.
The location William sent was on the street behind the school, where there were hardly any people.
Isabella put her phone in her pocket and slowly headed that way.
When she arrived near the location, she spotted a black sedan parked in the distance.
The car, like William himself, exuded an air of nobility.
Isabella took a deep breath, walked over, pulled open the car door, and got in.
The street was lined with tall, thick trees on both sides. Their dappled shadows blocked out most of the light, making it quite dim.
The car's interior lights were on. Inside were leather seats, an expensive velvet blanket, and a fully automatic temperature and air control system that gently released air with a faint fragrance.
William sat in the back seat, his long, straight legs naturally crossed beneath perfectly pressed suit pants without a single wrinkle.
William's face was as cold and unapproachable as always, yet when Isabella entered his peripheral vision, a trace of tenderness quietly crossed his features.
Isabella looked at William beside her. "Did you need something?"
William's eyes narrowed slightly. "Can't I see you without a reason?"
That simple sentence, coming from his mouth, carried an oppressive presence.
Isabella's lips curved stiffly. "You can."
"Have you been eating on time?"
Every time Isabella saw his serious expression and thought he was about to say something important, he would instead ask these trivial questions.
"I ate breakfast and lunch on time. As for dinner..." Isabella answered honestly, "I came to see you, so I haven't had a chance to eat yet."
"Then eat here." William commanded domineeringly.
The next second, Isabella saw William pull out a large pink lunch box from somewhere and place it on the small table in front of her.
?
Isabella paused, looking at the lunch box packed full of various foods. "This is so fancy?"
Even the fried egg inside was heart-shaped.
Clearly, whoever made this lunch put a lot of thought into it.
"Well, I won't hold back then." Isabella picked up a fork and started eating.
Coming to see William and getting fed too—not bad.
The car was exceptionally quiet. Isabella ate while William flipped through documents beside her.
Isabella finished eating.
William glanced at her and handed her a small bottle of milk. "Drink."
Isabella took it, unscrewed the cap, and quickly finished it.
William was satisfied.
He said quietly, "You can go back now."
Isabella: "?"
She could leave already?
William's deep eyes gazed at her, his voice heavy. "If there's anything you can't handle, tell me immediately."
Isabella only half-understood this, but obediently agreed. "Okay."
She pulled open the car door and got out.
William stared at Isabella's receding figure in the rearview mirror, his eyes gradually darkening.
In his previous life, he had so much he wanted to say to her, but in the end, he only saw her corpse.
In this life, he absolutely wouldn't let Isabella disappear from under his nose again.
——
That evening, Bianca and Gabriel returned home.
Hayden was there too.
His company had investigated and found out that it wasn't Isabella who had made public the news about her and Bianca being switched at birth—it was the Rodriguez family.
The rest of the Taylor family was shocked by this news.
Olivia glanced at Gabriel. "Isabella still won't come back?"
During the week Isabella disappeared, plus these few days she'd been living at school, it had been almost ten days since Olivia had seen Isabella.
Her feelings toward Isabella were complicated.
Though Olivia didn't like this child, no matter what, Isabella was her biological daughter.
Olivia couldn't truly ignore her.
Now discovering it wasn't Isabella who leaked the information online, and remembering how she had blamed Isabella before, she couldn't help feeling a trace of guilt.
"Bianca and I already went to see her. She's the one who won't come back." Gabriel said.
Thinking of Isabella's indifferent expression at the Class 11 doorway, an indescribable bad feeling rose in his chest.
It was as if...
Isabella really intended to cut ties with him.
Gabriel suddenly lost his appetite and went straight upstairs.
"Gabriel." Olivia called out to him. "When you get to school tomorrow, tell Isabella to come back so we can talk things over properly."
Gabriel thought of the harsh words he'd said after school, even saying she wasn't his sister. And now tomorrow he was supposed to go find her again?
He couldn't bring himself to do it.
"Why should I go? Who was it that insisted Isabella was the one who did it?"
Gabriel's words reminded everyone.
Who was it that said it was Isabella before the truth was even clear?
Thinking carefully, when the truth was made public, it seemed everyone had instinctively assumed it was Isabella who did it.
Because Isabella was the primary beneficiary.
In their view, didn't Isabella want the identity of being the Taylor family's daughter? By making it public, everyone would know she was the Taylor family's biological daughter, so no one had thought to consider anyone else.
For a moment, no one had anything to say.
