Chapter 56 Isabella Also Made the Cut

Chapter 56 Isabella Also Made the Cut

The girls' dorm was very quiet at night.

Elizabeth glanced over at Isabella's bed across from her. Seeing no movement there for quite a while, she carefully climbed out of bed.

Aria was in the bed right next to hers.

Elizabeth reached over and patted Aria's blanket, whispering, "Isabella's asleep."

By her estimate, Isabella hadn't moved for about an hour now.

Isabella was sleeping so soundly she looked dead.

Aria quickly got up too, and at the same time, Zoey threw off her covers and sat up.

In the darkness, the three pairs of eyes stared straight at the sleeping Isabella, glowing like ghosts.

"Looks like this idiot actually believed what we told her," Aria sneered. "Sleeping so peacefully."

"She even said she wanted to be friends with us. How stupid is that?"

As if! Who'd want to be friends with her? She should know her place!

"Alright, while this bitch is out cold, hurry up and grab the watch!"

Elizabeth commanded coldly, "Zoey, get moving!"

"What?" Zoey's expression changed slightly as she pointed at herself. "You want me to do it?"

Elizabeth said firmly, "Of course. Who else but you?"

Zoey's bed was right next to Isabella's. She glanced at the sleeping Isabella and nervously swallowed.

"Hurry up, Zoey, what are you waiting for?" Aria urged. "Don't wait until Isabella wakes up."

Zoey clenched her palms and climbed down from her bed, moving bit by bit toward Isabella.

Closer now, she could even hear Isabella's steady breathing.

Nothing to be afraid of.

Zoey told herself.

Isabella was already asleep. She wouldn't notice.

Zoey leaned over and carefully lifted Isabella's blanket. By the moonlight, she could see the watch on Isabella's wrist.

She quickly bent down to undo the clasp.

It was hard to see clearly in the dark. She fumbled nervously for quite a while before finally getting the clasp undone.

Zoey immediately pulled the watch out from under Isabella's hand.

She'd done it!

Zoey had gotten the watch. For some reason, she instinctively glanced at Isabella's face.

But in the darkness, Isabella's eyes were open, gleaming coldly as they stared at her with a hint of iciness.

The moment their eyes met, Isabella's lips parted slightly, her voice cold as a ghost in the night:

"What are you doing?"

In that instant, Zoey's breathing stopped.

She froze completely, feeling a chill run up her spine straight to the top of her head.

The moment they heard the voice, Elizabeth and Aria immediately lay back down and didn't move a muscle.

The entire dorm was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

"Isabella, I..." Zoey put the watch back on Isabella's wrist, stammering, "I saw your watch looked really nice, so I couldn't help taking it off to... to look at it. Now I'm... I'm giving it back to you."

With that, Zoey quickly scrambled back to her own bed, rapidly pulled the covers over herself, and curled up into a ball underneath.

Isabella laughed coldly.

——

Early the next morning, Scarlett ran into Isabella at the door of room 602 and immediately asked nervously, "Elizabeth and the others didn't do anything to you last night, did they?"

Yesterday when Isabella said Aria and the others had apologized to her, she just knew those girls would try something else. Unfortunately, no matter how much she tried to convince Isabella to sleep in her room, Isabella wouldn't agree. She'd been worried sick all night.

Isabella looked relaxed and said casually, "Nothing happened last night."

Scarlett grabbed her hands and checked them over from top to bottom. Seeing no injuries, she felt relieved.

Violet and Aurora had also finished getting ready and came out.

Violet was scrolling through her phone. "The new semester's campus beauty contest - Sophia from the international class has the most votes again."

Aurora was about to vote for Sophia too. "Sophia really is beautiful."

Every semester, the top spots on the campus beauty rankings were always those same familiar names.

Sophia, Juniper, Bianca, and so on.

But without exception, first place every year was always Sophia.

Violet kept scrolling down, then discovered something unexpected. "Isabella's on the list too!"

Since the start of school, Isabella had been a hot topic - first because of her connection to Bianca, and second because she was the one who got called in with her parents on the very first day of school for fighting.

Plenty of people had noticed her, so naturally someone had posted her photo on the campus beauty voting page.

In just one day, she already had twenty-seven votes.

Aurora immediately switched her vote from Sophia to Isabella.

Violet glanced at her. "You shouldn't vote for Isabella."

Aurora paused and turned to look at her. "Why not?"

Violet didn't hesitate to vote for Sophia instead, then explained, "In terms of looks, Isabella is one of the rare people who can actually compare to Sophia, and Isabella's momentum is pretty strong - twenty-seven votes in one day. If she actually beats Sophia, that won't be good."

Everyone knew Sophia's background - the genuine daughter of one of the four major families, the Brown Family. Her brother was in charge of the Brown Group. Every time Sophia came and went from school, wasn't she escorted by a whole line of bodyguards? Just the sight of it was intimidating.

As a rich girl pampered since childhood, having a strange temper and spoiled personality was inevitable.

Word was that Sophia only had one or two regular friends, and they were all from the wealthiest of wealthy families.

Everyone else, even those in the same class as Sophia, didn't even have the right to talk to her. Sophia wouldn't even bother looking at them.

If a rich girl like this, who'd held the top campus beauty spot for years, suddenly got bumped to second place by some nobody who came out of nowhere, she'd be furious.

She might throw a huge fit at home and just destroy Isabella.

After hearing Violet's analysis, Aurora belatedly realized how scary that could be.

Put that way, voting for Isabella really would be bringing trouble down on her head.

No wonder all these years, even though people ranked below her like Bianca were hugely popular, no one dared challenge the authority of the number one campus beauty spot.

Turned out no one had the guts to compete with Sophia for the spotlight.
