Chapter 333 She Isn't Even a Noble
Three guys came along with the student council to recruit new members.
They were smiling, tall and fair-skinned, with an extraordinary air about them.
"Looks like we need to recruit more good-looking guys and girls when we're enrolling!"
"Exactly! I heard the previous president recruited Arabella because he was impressed by her looks!"
"Arabella's looks are top-notch in all of Novaria. Who wouldn't be attracted?"
"..."
After collecting a batch of application forms, most of the crowd at the registration desk dispersed.
"What a shame..." Garry Glenn said while organizing the forms. "None of those people who just came were particularly good-looking."
"Garry, you think everyone's a hottie?" another guy teased.
"I heard there are two beautiful girls among the freshmen. Wonder if they're interested in joining our student council."
Someone asked curiously, "Beautiful girls? Who?"
"Magnolia and Natalia," Garry said.
The other two guys immediately asked: "Are they here? Which colleges are they from? How come we haven't seen them?"
"Not sure. Let's wait a bit longer. Maybe they'll come find us."
As Garry spoke, he looked around, searching for Magnolia and Natalia.
Suddenly, his gaze froze.
What did he see?
Two girls were walking this way, and one of them...
"She's gorgeous!"
Garry exclaimed.
Hearing this, everyone looked over.
Arabella also lifted her eyes. When she saw who Garry was talking about, her gaze paused.
Perhaps sensing her stare, the girl looked over in their direction.
Arabella could now see the girl's face clearly.
The girl had eyes that were clear and bright, captivating.
There was an indescribable beauty about her.
If you compared this girl to Magnolia and Natalia, she could definitely hold her own.
Arabella thought for a moment and was about to say something when suddenly, her eyes fell on the name tag on the girl's chest.
"Isabella Taylor."
Seeing the girl's name, a hint of disdain flashed in her eyes. She quickly pressed her lips together and looked away.
Garry beside her was eager to try: "Arabella, should I go ask her if she's interested in joining our student council?"
The other two guys were also staring at Isabella with wide eyes: "Her looks are just as good as Magnolia and Natalia's. If she could join our student council, she'd be our new face!"
When Arabella heard "new face," a cold look crossed her eyes.
She said coolly: "Don't recruit her."
At these words, everyone else was stunned.
"Why? She's really beautiful!"
"She is beautiful, but..." A trace of superiority and pride flashed in Arabella's eyes, then quickly faded. "She's not even a noble. Our student council doesn't need someone of her status."
"What?" The others were all shocked.
Arabella spoke in a slightly cold tone: "Her last name is Taylor. She probably worked really hard to get the chance to study here."
When the others heard Arabella say the girl's last name was Taylor, they immediately understood.
The seven great families and thirty-six noble houses—a total of forty-three surnames—these forty-three names were something everyone in the Northern Ice Empire could recite backwards and forwards.
Because they represented status and class, and were the pride of every noble.
And among those forty-three surnames, there was no "Taylor."
"No wonder she's so beautiful but I've never seen her before. Turns out she's not a noble," Garry said, feeling somewhat disappointed.
If Isabella were a noble like Magnolia and the others, with her looks, she could definitely become one of the great beauties.
"What about the girl next to her? She's not bad looking either. Should we consider her?" another guy asked.
Arabella shook her head.
When she noticed Isabella's name earlier, she also noticed that the girl next to Isabella was a Kennedy.
"Although the Hope family ranks eighteenth among the thirty-six noble houses, as far as I know, this Kennedy is useless."
"Useless?" Garry didn't understand. "Why do you say that?"
Arabella looked superior, with faint disdain in her eyes: "Although Kennedy is the daughter of the former Hope family head Eldridge Hope, she can't practice ancient martial arts. She's just an ordinary person."
Being in an ancient martial arts family but unable to practice ancient martial arts—everyone present understood what that meant.
Such a person could never become an heir.
She wouldn't even have any voice or status within the family.
Arabella knew about Kennedy.
She'd heard that Kennedy was a rare genius in physics, winning first prize in the national physics competition at a young age, and participating in national research projects at fifteen.
But so what?
No matter how good she was at physics, she couldn't survive the bloody power struggles within the family.
A useless person like her—if someone wanted to kill her, it would be easy.
When the others heard that Kennedy was useless, they immediately gave up the idea of recruiting her into the student council. After all, their student council really didn't need someone useless.
——
"This is where we live."
Kennedy brought Isabella to an elegant small villa.
Isabella glanced at it—the house number was 112.
Kennedy pushed open the villa door and helped Isabella wheel her suitcase inside.
Suddenly, a soft female voice came from inside the villa: "Kennedy, you're back?"
A girl with slightly curled hair came down from upstairs.
Kennedy looked at the girl: "Cecilia, perfect timing. This is our new roommate."
Cecilia Thorne realized what was happening and looked at Isabella, squeezing out a sweet smile. Just as she was about to greet her, she heard Kennedy say: "Her name is Isabella Taylor."
Cecilia's expression immediately changed.
"What?"
"What's her name?"
Isabella Taylor?
Among the forty-three noble surnames, there was no Taylor.
Cecilia looked at the name tag on Isabella's chest in disbelief. After clearly seeing her full name, Cecilia couldn't keep her composure anymore.
She looked at Kennedy somewhat angrily: "Kennedy, did you invite her here?"
Cecilia knew that freshmen could choose their own vacant villas.
Their villa could accommodate three people. After she and Kennedy moved in, one more person could move in, so yesterday she told Kennedy to carefully select the remaining roommate.
Because the Thorne family ranked at the bottom of the thirty-six noble houses at number thirty-four, her main purpose in coming to this academy wasn't to study, but to get to know the descendants of powerful families and build relationships with heirs of more powerful families.
When she came, her parents specifically told her to get to know the young ladies or young masters from the higher-ranking noble families, and if she could meet anyone from the seven great families, she should try by any means to get familiar with them.
She even thought that if there were people from the seven great families among the freshmen, she could invite them to live with her!
But Kennedy didn't even consult with her and brought back a poor commoner?
Even lower than their Thorne family!
