Chapter 334 It's Better to Make a Few New Friends
Cecilia was furious, her little face even filled with grievance. "Kennedy, you clearly know I want to be friends with Jasmine Faye. I want Jasmine to live with us. Why did you let Isabella move in? Isabella, she can't even..."
Kennedy interrupted her: "Cecilia, letting Isabella move into 112 was Gabriella's idea."
Kennedy certainly knew who this Jasmine that Cecilia kept mentioning was.
This time, the Class of '89 physics department had a total of 30 new students.
Since Kennedy had been helping Gabriella handle new student matters these past few days, Gabriella gave her a list of the Class of '89 physics freshmen, which Cecilia borrowed to look at.
On the list, although none of the Seven Great Families' surnames appeared, they were all from the Thirty-Six Noble Families. Among them, the highest-ranked was the "Faye" surname, which ranked fourth among the Thirty-Six Noble Families.
That was Jasmine.
Hearing Kennedy say that letting Isabella move in was Gabriella's idea, Cecilia was still reluctant.
But she couldn't go against Gabriella's arrangement, so she could only say expressionlessly: "Fine, then what else can I say?"
What bad luck.
Not only did she fail to befriend Jasmine, but now she had to live with such a poor person.
Cecilia was in a bad mood, and it showed on her face.
Kennedy knew Cecilia wanted to build connections with other families. As for Cecilia's "ambition," Kennedy didn't support it, but she respected it.
After all, what kind of person Cecilia wanted to become was her business. Everyone had that freedom, and she had no right to interfere. She just needed to become the person she wanted to be.
"Your room is upstairs. It's been cleaned and ready to move in. I'll help you take your luggage up," Kennedy said, keeping Gabriella's instructions in mind and treating Isabella like a younger sister.
"Thanks, but I can manage myself."
Isabella took the suitcase from Kennedy and followed her upstairs with it.
The room left for Isabella was a south-facing one. It was spacious, with a private bathroom and a study.
"The housekeeper Sloane will come back later to cook," Kennedy said, watching Isabella stuff her suitcase into the closet. She then asked, "Do you have any food restrictions, or any particular taste preferences? I can have Sloane pay attention when cooking."
The villa dorms at the Noble Academy all had their own housekeepers assigned to handle cleaning, cooking, and such.
Isabella thought for a moment. "I'm not picky. Anything is fine."
Kennedy looked at her and raised an eyebrow. "Want me to show you around? I'm familiar with this area now. After a walk around, you'll get the general idea."
Isabella smiled. "Sure."
The two went downstairs.
Kennedy saw Cecilia in the living room and called out: "Cecilia, I'm taking Isabella for a tour of the school. Come along too."
Cecilia clenched her palms. They were all roommates, and she didn't want to be the one left out, so she reluctantly agreed and followed.
Although the Noble Academy didn't have many students, it covered a large area. Just these villa dorms alone took up a huge space.
All the buildings here were new, with luxurious decorations. Even a random streetlight had an elegant design.
After all, all the wealthy noble descendants of Novaria gathered here. Even if each family donated a little money, the academy would have endless funds.
Isabella looked around curiously at the campus environment along the way.
They occasionally ran into some new students, almost all of whom had extraordinary bearing.
When Kennedy encountered someone whose name she knew, she would quietly introduce them to Isabella.
She knew Isabella wasn't a noble, so fitting into campus life would probably be harder for her than for others. After all, the Thirty-Six Noble Families had events where they could occasionally meet, but Isabella wasn't in that circle, so she probably hadn't had contact with the others.
Kennedy figured this was probably why Gabriella asked her to look after Isabella.
After all, the pride and aloofness in the bones of the Thirty-Six Noble Families made it impossible for them not to be exclusive.
"That girl with long straight hair is Adelaide Fairfax. She's Eldon Fairfax's daughter."
"The guy next to her... if I remember correctly, should be Delmar Puckett. That famous Cloud Hotel next to the academy is owned by his father, Wilford Puckett. The Puckett family's relationships are pretty complicated..."
Walking beside them, Cecilia grew impatient.
She spoke up, her tone displeased, directly interrupting Kennedy: "Why are you telling her all this? She's not one of the Thirty-Six Noble Families. Those people won't associate with her anyway. What's the point of her knowing this?"
Cecilia didn't understand why Kennedy was specifically taking Isabella around the school and telling her so much.
Was there any need to bother with someone of Isabella's status?
If Isabella hadn't come, the remaining room could have housed someone else.
Cecilia didn't want to miss any opportunity to connect with other nobles. Dealing with someone like Isabella was simply a waste of time for her.
With the time spent showing Isabella around, she might as well meet a few new friends, preferably from higher-ranked noble families. That way, if the Thorne family had any issues in the future, they'd have someone to rely on.
After all, these young people would inherit the Thirty-Six Noble Families in the future.
She was very clear about what studying at the Noble Academy meant. If she made a few powerful friends, the entire Thorne family could have support in the future, maybe even move up in the rankings.
Cecilia continued: "Someone like Isabella who got in through a recommendation letter is already lucky just to get a degree from our academy. Kennedy, can you stop wasting time introducing this and that to her? Hurry up and finish the tour. I still need to go say hello to Jasmine!"
Kennedy listened to Cecilia's words, her brows slightly furrowed.
She thought for a moment and said: "How about this, Cecilia—I'll continue showing Isabella around. If you want to say hello to Jasmine, you can go find her now, so it doesn't delay you."
Kennedy could tell that Cecilia really didn't want to accompany Isabella on the tour.
So her accompanying Isabella alone would be fine too.
But Cecilia's expression changed when she heard this, and her voice became sharper: "Kennedy, what do you mean? Are you trying to get rid of me?"
Kennedy: "..."
"I'm not getting rid of you. You just said it was wasting your time, so I thought you might be better off doing what you want to do."
"If this isn't getting rid of me, what is? We're the ones who knew each other first. Now you insist on showing Isabella around the school—didn't we already tour yesterday?"
Cecilia looked at Kennedy with an unpleasant expression. "Tell me, what will you get from wasting time caring so much about Isabella? Her status is what it is. She won't be able to help you with anything in the future—"
"Cecilia."
Before Cecilia could finish, she was interrupted by Kennedy's slightly stern voice.
