Chapter 241 Verification of Identity
Looking at these police officers, Isabella was somewhat surprised. "Forged nationality?"
"That's right. Someone reported that you're from Novaria! It's illegal for Novarians to participate in gem identification in Veridian! Did you know that?"
"Of course I know Novarians can't enter the rough stone market," Isabella explained. "But I've been wrongly accused. I'm not from Novaria, I'm from Lumaria."
The officer glanced around, his eyes landing on those colorful gems, and asked, "Did you extract all of these?"
"That's right." Isabella met his gaze calmly. "As a Lumarian, I'm skilled in gem identification. Is there a problem with that?"
The officer's face turned serious. "If you're from Lumaria, naturally there's no problem! But if you're from Novaria, you'll be detained!"
"So please come back to the station with us. We'll verify your nationality and identity according to the law!"
Isabella nodded slightly. "Alright, I'll go with you."
"We're temporarily confiscating your gems. We can only return them once we confirm there's no problem with your nationality and identity. Otherwise, they all belong to the Veridian government!"
Isabella said nothing and followed the officers into the police car.
Soon, the car stopped at the police station entrance.
As soon as Isabella got out, she saw a middle-aged woman standing at the station entrance.
When Savannah saw her, she charged over with a fierce look on her face.
Savannah glared at Isabella and shouted in a shrill voice, "You bitch! You're the one who beat up my husband like that! I'm going to beat you to death!"
She raised her hand to slap Isabella but was stopped by an officer.
The officer looked at her sternly and said sharply, "What are you doing? Trying to hit someone at the station entrance? Want to be locked up?"
Isabella's gaze swept over Savannah, her eyebrow lifting slightly. "So you're the one who called the police?"
It seemed she was that fat man's wife.
Savannah looked smug. "That's right, it was me! So what?"
"You filthy bitch, how dare you bully my husband! I'll make sure you never get out of this!"
She pointed at Isabella and said to the officer, "She's from Novaria, and she dares to do gem identification. Lock her up quickly!"
Isabella looked at her coldly. "You say I'm from Novaria. What evidence do you have?"
Savannah was stunned, then said righteously, "What evidence do I need? I am the evidence!"
How could a woman beat several grown men like that if she wasn't an ancient martial arts professional? Plus she extracted so many gems—she must be from Novaria!
Savannah was absolutely certain of this. She turned to the officer and said, "Sir, her nationality must be forged. Lock her up quickly!"
"Enough, stop making noise!" the officer said coldly. "We'll naturally investigate what the truth is!"
With that, he brought Isabella inside.
Savannah followed them in. She wanted to see with her own eyes how this bitch would be dealt with by the police!
That's what she gets for hitting her husband!
——
Isabella was taken to the interrogation room.
Savannah tried to follow but was stopped by an officer. "You can't go in!"
Savannah snorted coldly and sat to the side, staring intently at the interrogation room door.
Inside the room, a female officer said to Isabella, "Please show your ID card and passport."
Isabella handed over both her ID card and passport directly.
The female officer took the documents to verify them.
They needed to verify whether the ID and passport were genuine, and even after confirming their authenticity, they still needed to take a photo of Isabella's face and contact the Lumarian police to confirm she was indeed a registered person in the Lumarian database.
While waiting for the verification, several officers outside were also discussing the case privately.
Almost all of them thought Isabella must be from Novaria.
After all, they had all seen the gems Isabella extracted—this was definitely not something an ordinary person could do.
"Why would she do something so stupid? If she has the ability to identify stones, she shouldn't be short of money. Why come to Veridian to pick stones? She's asking for trouble!"
"And daring to forge an identity."
"Money-crazy."
Listening to these officers' discussions, Savannah's eyes were full of smugness and mockery.
Hmph!
That damn bitch is finished!
Just then, Savannah's phone rang. When she answered and heard the news, she was immediately delighted. "What? My husband woke up?"
"That's great!"
"Quick, put my husband on the phone. I have good news to tell him!"
Savannah couldn't wait to tell him about calling the police.
"Honey, I got revenge for you! That bitch who beat you up has been arrested and taken to the police station!"
"I'm at the police station now! I want to see with my own eyes as she gets detained! Who told her to..."
Just then, the interrogation room door opened.
The female officer escorted Isabella out. "You're all clear, Miss. You can leave directly."
Watching the female officer politely escort Isabella out, Savannah's words cut off abruptly, shock flashing in her eyes.
She looked at Isabella's departing figure in disbelief, then immediately stood up and shrieked, "What are you doing? Why are you letting her go?"
"We've already verified that she's not from Novaria, so naturally we should release her," the female officer said.
What?
Savannah was stunned.
She's not from Novaria?
"How can she not be from Novaria? She is from Novaria!"
How could she have judged wrong? If she's not from Novaria, how could she be so good at fighting and so skilled at gem identification?
The female officer was helpless. "We've already confirmed it. She is indeed from Lumaria."
Although she was also surprised.
But that was the fact, and no one knew why.
Savannah's face looked terrible. She hadn't expected that bitch not to be from Novaria! This was completely unexpected!
She rushed out of the station and, seeing Isabella, shrieked, "Stop right there!"
"You're actually not from Novaria! You bitch! How dare you play me! I'm going to beat you to death!" Savannah raised her hand and swung it directly at Isabella's face.
Isabella caught Savannah's swinging hand and gripped her wrist tightly.
Savannah felt intense pain in her wrist, as if her bones were about to be crushed.
Isabella looked at her, a casual, cold smile playing at the corner of her mouth. "What? Want to end up like your husband, beaten so badly you can't get out of the hospital?"
Savannah glared at Isabella. She hadn't expected this bitch to dare threaten her.
She struggled with all her might, trying to pull her hand free to slap Isabella hard.
Isabella felt her resistance and smirked, giving her hand a light twist.
Savannah screamed, then fell to the ground as Isabella released her.
She clutched her hand with tears streaming down her face, shouting, "It hurts! It hurts so much!"
Isabella laughed and turned to leave.
