Chapter 52

Chapter 52
“Scarlet, I am sorry, but we won’t stay for long. Something has happened back at the capital, and we need to rush there,” Mrs White said as she held Scarlet walking towards the cars.

Scarlet was stunned and looked at her in confusion as she had expected that even it should be either her godfather or Oscar would say that.

Seeing the confusion and frown on Scarlet’s face, Mrs White sighed in frustration.

“Your brother got in a fight and was injured; he is currently in the hospital. We need to rush there,” she said, making Scarlet dumbfounded.

Oscar was also stunned when he heard that and guessed that that was the reason his father was furious. He pinched his nose, feeling frustrated as he initially wanted to leave his parents so that they could meet with Martin, but it seemed that it was impossible.

“Aunt, I understand. You should go and take care of him,” Scarlet said, making Mrs White love her more. She had expected the love to feel aggrieved, but no.

“Since you left your clothes, I will send the stylists to bring you some there. I believe that you know your house, right?” she asked while glancing at Angela, who nodded her head.

“Her family is the richest in the city. Everyone knows of them,” Scarlet said, making Oscar and Mr White glance at Angela, who didn’t seem like she came from such a background.

However, when their eyes fell on the Land Rovers and the bodyguards standing beside the cars, they felt that it must be possible.

“Scarlet,” Mrs Cole called Scarlet when she walked out of the car and walked towards them.

“Auntie,” Scarlet called her with a smile on her face, and for a minute, Mrs White felt jealous of the woman who was going to live with Scarlet.

When she saw the face, she was stunned. She immediately understood why Angela seemed familiar. How could she forget that the young miss of the richest family in the capital had been married in this city?

“Mrs White,” Mrs Cole greeted the woman, feeling that since she was Scarlet’s godmother and Shanaya trusted her, she would show some respect to them.

“It’s you. I am quite surprised that you know Scarlet and Sophia,” Mrs White said, making Mrs Cole, who had been busy checking on the wound on Sophia’s forehead, glance at them.

“My daughter is Scarlet’s close friend. My family has known Shanaya for years,” she said, not explaining anymore, but she expected the Whites to understand what she meant.

“Aunt Shanaya has known my maternal family for years,” Angela said, making Scarlet speechless as she wondered whether there was any need to explain so much.

The Whites were shocked. They always knew that Shanaya had been connected, but never expected it to be so deep.

“Thank you for visiting her. I just heard your words, you can rush to see your son. Both Scarlet and Sophia will be fine with us. However, please visit often, you are her godparents and Shanaya trusted you to look after them,” Mrs Cole said. At first, Mrs White was angry with her words, but when she heard the second, she calmed down.

“Okay. When he gets well, we will come to visit. Hope you won’t feel uncomfortable having us in your house.”

Mrs Cole stared at the woman, then looked at Scarlet, who was holding the woman’s hands, and tried to calm herself so as not to say anything rude.

“How can I? My house is big enough for your whole family to visit. If you want to stay for a month, you also can, as we don’t lack meals to serve our guests,” Mrs Cole said, making Angela chuckle while Scarlet lowered her head, trying to hide her smile.

Seeing that the two women were about to fight, he turned to Sophia.

“I am sorry that I can’t accompany you any longer,” Oscar said, making Sophia glance at her.

“It’s okay. It's not even right for the two of us to stay together for long, as people might misunderstand,” Sophia said, making Mrs Cole’s eyes light up. Angela gave Sophia a thumbs up while Scarlet smiled deeper.

The smile on Oscar’s face froze as he never expected her to say that.

“What do you mean? Our families are family friends. Also, Auntie left you under my… our care,” Oscar said, making Sophia shake her head.

“My sister was my backbone. She is not here, thus I am not worthy of getting married into your family anymore,” Sophia said as she was tired of their pretence and couldn’t care more.

The Whites were stunned by her words. It was true that her backing was no longer there, but just her being Shanaya’s sister brought a lot of benefits. If they were to work with Mrs Cole’s family through the two ladies, won’t that be good?

“What are you talking about, child? Even if she isn’t here, we are. We will always be your powerful backing,” Mrs Cole said as she patted Sophia's head. Sophia was stunned while Scarlet lifted her head to look at Mrs Cole, wondering what her plans were.

She had almost thought that it was to get her son married to Sophia, but she recalled that her aunt was also than the son, thus she threw the thought away.

Hearing her words, the Whites eyes lit up.

“Godmother, you shouldn’t stay long. Brother doesn’t have anyone at his side, he may be feeling anxious,” Scarlet said, making Mrs White remember her son.

“Okay, we will be leaving. Take care of yourself. However, why don’t the cars drive off together so that the Jenkins might not overthink about it?” Mrs White said, and Mrs Cole agreed with her.

“Mom, you go with Aunt Sophia, Scarlet, and I will take Felix's car,” Angela said, making Scarlet look at her.

“Stop with your mischief right now. Get in my car if you don’t want me to return the car keys to your uncle,” Mrs Cole said, making Angela panic as she knew that if her mother wanted the keys, she couldn’t do anything to do.

She could act mischievous with her uncle, who, though she feared him, pampered her but not her mother.

She took Scarlet’s hand and started dragging her way.

“Wait,” Scarlet said as her other hand was holding her godmother. Angela halted and looked at her in confusion, but when she saw that Scarlet’s other hand was held by Mrs White, she understood everything and looked at Scarlet sheepishly.

Scarlet hugged Mrs White before walking away with Angela, leaving the woman stunned.

“What happened?” Sophia asked Scarlet, as she had known of Scarlet’s plans to make the Whites leave, but never thought of such a thing. How could her niece have connections in the capital?

“I don’t know. I will show you my doings,” Scarlet said with a smirk when she recalled that Angela and her mother were also in the car.

“Aunt, thank you for your help, but we won’t be staying with your family,” Scarlet said, making Angela glare at her as she had been happy that the latter would be living with them.

“That’s not possible. Where will you live if not with us? Also, what will your father say when he finds out?” Mrs Cole said in a displeased tone.

“I understand you are worried about us, but we will be fine. I am a grown woman and can take care of my niece. Also, we will keep it hidden, to everyone, we live in your mansion, but that’s not the case. Angela knows our new apartment, we will be okay,” Sophia said, making Mrs Cole shake her head, still not accepting their decision.

“What if they buy a villa in our estate? That way, won’t we be going to school with Scarlet, and people will believe that they live with us? They will have their own space just like they want, and we can be close to them, protecting them,” Angela said, making her mother’s eyes light up, but Scarlet felt troubled.

“How much is a villa in that area?” Sophia asked as she also knew they didn’t have enough money to buy a villa.

“The smallest is a hundred million,” Mrs Cole said, then she understood why they looked bothered.

“Aunt, we used our money in investments; we don’t even have a third of that money,” Scarlet said as she felt that they should be honest.

“What if you go and take your inheritance?” Mrs Cole asked Sophia, who was stunned.

“Didn’t Felix say…”

“That was to fool the Jenkins. The men were after you, not Scarlet. Only by thinking you have nothing in your name could they leave you alone,” Mrs Cole said, startling the young ladies.

“Okay, then let’s go to the Capital Bank. Martin will be arriving in an hour and a half. We can take the inheritance and purchase the villa,” Sophia said, making Mrs Cole smile.

“Scar, you don’t know. There is a villa next to ours. You should take that one. That way, you will have us at your left and Mrs Davis at your right. The Nelsons are a few houses away from us,” Angela said, making Scarlet fall into deep thoughts as she understood why Angela proposed that.

“Okay,” Scarlet said as she felt that since they had their own privacy, everything was okay.

Recalling something, Scarlet took her phone and dialed a number.

“You gave it to me, are these week’s earnings mine also?” Scarlet asked, making everyone look at her.

The man on the other side was stunned before he chuckled. “You already used the seventy million? Why not go earn it the same way you earned it yesterday?” Matthew asked as he was curious.

“Naah, if I did that, your clients would all run away. However, I might think of your suggestion,” Scarlet said as she smirked, making the man surprised.

“The whole month’s earnings. They were supposed to send the earnings this weekend as it's the end month. They bill it every month, not week,” he said, and it was Scarlet’s turn to be surprised.

“Okay, tell them I’m on my way,” she said and hung up the call.

She didn’t see the need for her aunt to take her inheritance too soon cause of a villa.

“Let’s go to the La Vira Club,” Scarlet said, surprising everyone.

“Scarlet…” Sophia called her.
