Chapter 51
“They can leave with you, but should come back a week before her birthday,” Mr Jenkins said as he thought that it was fine. Scarlet was still his daughter, with her living at the Coles mansion; didn’t that mean that their family would have a close friendship with the Coles? Won’t the other families be jealous of them?
At the moment, he didn’t care about killing Sophia as she was as poor as a churchmouse, so it was better to use this chance for another opportunity.
“Okay, in those two months, please don’t contact them directly. If you want to reach them, call the madam. We also checked and saw that Scarlet’s school issues have not been taken care of. Don’t worry, we will,” Felix said as he didn’t leave any dignity for the Jenkins.
The Whites were stunned and looked at Mr Jenkins, who was busy glaring at the man who had spoken for embarrassing him. He had wanted to wait till Monday to deal with it. He had listened to Ann; how could he have known that this would be used on him?
“Uhm, are we carrying our belongings?” Scarlet asked, looking at Felix innocently.
“There is no need,” Mr Jenkins said hurriedly.
“What if, after coming back, there will be some things missing? I bought the latest fashion last time, and my sister didn’t look pleased with me. What if she takes them as hers, the way she took my belongings when I left last time?” Scarlet said, making Ann glare at her.
She had, of course, thought of taking Scarlet’s belongings as hers, but who knew that the bitch would mention it? Wasn’t this embarrassing them in front of the Whites and Coles? Angela never liked her from the start. After hearing this, who knew how she would see her?
“There are also the gowns Godmother sent to me and Sophia,” Scarlet added in a low tone, making Mr Jenkins speechless.
He had a feeling that she was doing it on purpose, but didn’t have any evidence.
“She dares! If she takes a single suitcase into your room, she should be ready to go to the countryside for two months,” Mr Jenkins said, making Scarlet sneer.
“Okay, I recorded what you just said. I will send it to Sophia. If Scarlet or Sophia find their stuff missing them you should do as you said. If you don’t, don’t blame us for reporting a thief to the police,” Oscar said, stunning Mr Jenkins as he had just spoken, wanting to please Scarlet, not meaning a word.
These people had angered him so much that he didn’t want to see them anymore. But how could he chase them out, and he was afraid that Mrs White might say that the mansion didn’t belong to him in the first place, so where did he get the nerves to chase them out? Won’t that be humiliating?
“Okay,” he said as he glared at Ann, as he didn’t dare glare at the young master of the White family.
Ann frowned, feeling wronged. Even if she had that idea, did she have to be blamed even before she took them?
“Go take whatever you want to take and come down, Mom is waiting outside,” Angela said as she had seen her mother when she arrived, but never said a thing.
Mr and Mrs Jenkins were surprised when they heard that. They felt that they had made the right decision as it seemed that if they had refused, the Coles would have made things worse for them. After all, they were the culprits.
“Okay, godmother, wait for us,” Scarlet said, not forgetting the woman who had been holding her since she walked in.
She felt that even without the Whites, everything would have been fine. She never expected that this incident would lead them to leave and live outside. She never planned to live at the Coles’ mansion. She felt the need to talk to Mrs Cole about that. It would be better if she and her aunt lived alone.
“What, you said they were attacked?” a man asked with a frown.
“Did you find who was after her?” the man asked again.
“I don’t know, but we suspect that it was her family. Also, Cole’s young miss had intercepted her at the junction. The young lady had been accompanied by that man’s bodyguards. That’s how Miss Jenkins and her aunt survived,” the subordinate said, stunning the boss, then he shook his head.
“Who doesn’t know how much that man spoils his niece. She even stole the yacht keys, and he never said anything other than complaining a little. Didn’t we also find out that he was the one who bought the other car? The reports showed that they were in his niece's name,” the subordinate said.
“Miss Jenkins isn’t simple at all. Didn’t you find out that Martin is coming to the city? He is one of my clients. I think with Miss Jenkins we will defeat him today,” the boss said with a mischievous smile on his face.
“Sir, that won’t do. I found out the reason Martin always came here was that he had been looking for Miss Jenkins. He was her mother’s friend. I believe that he is here after hearing the news that Miss Jenkins and her aunt are back. Oh, almost forgot, the Whites from the capital are also here,” the subordinate said, stunning his boss.
“Oscar, he really hides. If I didn’t know his true character, I would have been fooled,” the boss said with a frown on his face as he wondered what the little lady had to do with the Whites.
He glanced at his subordinate, who immediately understood what his gaze meant. Luckily, he had investigated everything before coming here. “Mr and Mrs Whites are Miss Jenkins' godparents,” he said, stunning the man.
“What kind of identity did her mother have? I have a feeling there is more awaiting to surprise us,” the boss said.
“Sir, do you regret not giving her the casino shares and giving her the club?” the subordinate said, making the man glance at him before laughing.
“Did you believe that such a person was to be involved in these things? If I am not wrong, she just came here cause she needed money. The reason I gave her the club instead of the shares was because of those old men back home, and also, if she comes here often, won’t she chase away my clients?” Matthew said as he shook his head.
Also, after finding out that the man sent his niece out there, did he have to be told twice to understand what was happening? As a person who knew how the man worked, wasn’t that a little bit suspicious? As if he thought of something, he smirked and then stood up.
“Boss, are you leaving?”
“Mind your business!” he said coldly before walking away.
Scarlet just took her electronics and the stationery she had bought. She hid the jewels she had been gifted in her secret safe, as she believed that since the family never found it after ten years, there was no way they would find it within the two months.
Sophia also took the same things as they felt they could buy clothes.
Downstairs, Mrs White had been speaking to Angela as she found her familiar but couldn’t recall where she had seen her. However, Angela had seen how the family looked at Sophia and Scarlet, thus she was on guard with the woman.
Oscar could tell that, but didn’t say anything. His mind was on the fact that Sophia had changed so much. She had become so pretty, and she was full where necessary. He regretted going to them after finding out where they lived earlier, as he could tell that the two weren’t so close to them as they wanted them to think. He wondered what had happened to change them, but couldn’t figure out anything.
He didn’t believe that Aunt Shanaya was the one who told them anything about them, as the last time he spoke to the woman, she had stated that only by him marrying Sophia would she be at peace, as no one would find trouble with her.
He received a call, making him frown. When he saw that it was his assistant, he walked out to pick it.
When he heard the news, he was stunned, finding it unbelievable. It had been years since someone plotted on them. Just as he hung up and walked in, he saw his family also walking in with angry faces, and he was puzzled.
Still, he didn’t want to know what was wrong at the moment, as they couldn’t leave in the middle of everything. They needed to meet this Mrs Cole and drive off with them so the Jenkins could believe that they were backing Sophia and Scarlet.
“Done,” Scarlet said as she walked towards her godmother. She could feel the overflow of love from the latter, though it didn’t mean that the latter couldn’t be selfish.
Seeing how attached Scarlet was to her, Mrs White had a wide smile on her face. Sophia raised her eyebrows as she was the one who knew her niece best and wondered what she was plotting.
“Let’s go,” Mrs White said as she started walking out with Scarlet.
