Chapter 44

Chapter 44
“Why do we use all the chips you earned tonight?” the boss said, making Scarlet stare at him for a while.

“If I win, would I get even your chips from the win?” she asked, stunning the man as he didn’t expect her to be so ambitious.

Still, he nodded as his head as he was a man of his word. Seeing his actions, Scarlet was so overjoyed.

“Let’s play poker,” the man said, and Scarlet nodded her head. She had once watched John and Dylan together with their parents watching poker, so she knew or two about it. Still, she wanted to watch how the man in front of her would play.

They started with five million, so they could keep adding. The man’s idea of just getting what Scarlet won, not any of her money.

Scarlet watched everything seriously. Though the man tried to hide, as he knew that she was a kind of genius and didn’t want her to learn anything from how he played. As expected, they won the first game.

Scarlet played the second game slower than the first one, making it hard for the man to hide despite trying his best. When he won, he smirked as he had been anxious when playing it.

The third game, Scarlet played it just as she had played the second game, slowly, calmly, but carefully. She wasn’t ready to lose the money she had gotten. She had risked everything to earn money in there, and she wasn’t ready to give up on them.

When she won, she breathed out the breath and had been holding, but the man opposite her became more restless. He had told her that they should play five games, as he had seen that it took her five games to learn the rules and how the games were played. He never expected this.

At this time, he realized the risk of having a shareholder in a business he had wanted to rule alone.

She had won the fifteen million she had lost in the first two games and earned seven million more. Though the money was enough to make her smile, laugh, or even celebrate, she couldn’t, as the man had won two while she had just won one. She needed to win three to emerge as the winner.

Everyone was serious in the fourth game. When Scarlet won that game too, the boss’s eyes darkened as he glanced at Scarlet, wondering where she had come from.

He wanted to stop the game there, but when he saw the mischievous smile on Scarlet's face, he couldn’t understand why he felt anxious and couldn’t dare say what he wanted to say.

“I won,” Scarlet said with a smile on her face while talking all the chips in the middle of the table.

“Go get the shares document ready. I will sign them before leaving. Oh, these chips should be exchanged as cash,” Scarlet said to the man beside them.

“What if I give you something else instead of these shares?” the boss said, making Scarlet turn to him.

“Chillax, you seem to be so anxious. I don’t bite. Also, don’t you think that with me on your side, we can earn a lot of money?” Scarlet asked, making the two men in the room stunned.

They had only seen her as an enemy who wanted to taunt them, but after hearing her words, they had to agree that she was correct. With such a person on their side, they didn’t need to worry about whether they would lose.

“Anyways, tell me what you wanted to say and I will tell you what I think,” Scarlet said as she wasn’t interested in the casino so much. She had only gotten in cause she needed money urgently, and now she had earned more than seventy million, it was enough for her and her aunt to carry out their plans.

“The La Vira Club. I will transfer the ownership to you,” the boss said, stunning Scarlet.

The club was the finest and most luxurious club in the city. It earned tens of millions in a week. She never thought that the man would offer her such valuable property.

“Why? As much as I know, it's more valuable than the shares I asked for,” Scarlet asked.

“I want this business for my own. It’s personal stuff. However, I want to give the club to you as a peace offering. At the same time, if the club ever has people who are pro in games and casinos, you can come and help me win. I will give you 50 percent of whatever you win,” the man said, making Scarlet stare at him as she fell into deep thought.

“I know that you are afraid that I am lying, but I am not. To show you that I am sincere, I will tell you my real name,” he said when he saw the suspicious look Scarlet was giving him.

“Matthew De Luca, an Italian…” Scarlet said, shocking the two men.

“I know who you are. Actually, I am the one who should be telling you my name, not you, as I already know yours, but you don’t know me,” Scarlet said, making the two men look at her with shock and fear.

Not many knew who the boss was, so they were surprised that in such a small city, there was someone who knew him.

“I will take the club, as I don’t like getting involved with all this stuff or even getting in the middle. It's better if I stay away from this. Also, the club is at least a legal business; I don’t want to be caught in illegal business,” Scarlet said, making the men confused and bothered as they didn’t know what to think or say.

“Go get the transfer procedures. I need to go back,” she said to the standing man before looking at Matthew.

“Will you be taking the staff away?” she asked, as she wanted to know how to deal with the employees.

“No. I will give you three months to get your own people. The manager is one of my people; you can find someone to learn from her before she comes back to my side. As for the rest, they are just normal employees,” Matthew said as he stared at Scarlet, who nodded her head.

“Are you going to tell me who you are?” he asked after some moments of silence.

Scarlet frowned when she realized that without an ID with the face she was with, it would be impossible to prove who she was or the owner of the club. She sighed in frustration and looked at the man seated opposite her coldly.

“If you ever tell anyone my identity or it is made public, then I will tell people your identity. I believe that you have more to lose than I,” Scarlet said, making the man’s eyes darken as he had been threatened.

He had not even thought of closing Scarlet, as her knowing her name already proved that she wasn’t simple. He wanted the man to be a friend and not a foe cause his opponents knew that there was such a genius person, they would do everything to recruit him to their team, which he didn’t want to see.

When she was handed a card with money after the chips she had won were exchanged, she glanced at it before placing it in her pocket.

She took the document that had been placed on the table and started reading it. She had started all these, thus how could she be afraid of what would come to her? She was ambitious, thus she needed to make such unpredictable moves.

She nodded when she saw there was nothing wrong with the papers and handed them to Matthew to sign. After he signed them, she took them and signed them.

Though she was underage, she had a right to own properties, though she was aware that if her father found out, he might take it to ‘manage’ as he had been doing to all the properties she had inherited.

She signed her name before taking the documents.

Matthew looked at the copy of the property transfer and was stunned. Though he had not heard of the latter’s name, he had heard of Shanaya’s name and that she was the Jenkins madam ten years ago. He knew of Ann and John, as after settling in the city, he investigated all those wealthy families wanting to know them so that there wouldn’t be any problem in the future.

He had watched Scarlet for more than two hours yet had not seen through her disguise. He thought that if she was really the Jenkins' second daughter, the legitimate daughter, she wasn’t as naïve as people said she was. She had a sharp brain like her mother. He also knew that Shanaya wasn’t from the city or anywhere near the city. He couldn’t even find anything on how, no matter how much he investigated. That was the reason he had a deep impression on the woman. Never thought that he would come across her daughter or even cheat on money and his properties.

He had been mad before, but after knowing who it was, he felt relieved and accepted his defeat.

“I will talk to the manager and tell him about you. When you are ready to visit the club, please call me so that I can organize everything,” he said as he handed Scarlet a card.

Scarlet was stunned as she didn’t understand why he was completely different after seeing her name, but she wasn’t in the mood to ask, as it was already too late, and she needed to get home as soon as possible.

She nodded her head as she left in a hurry, not wanting to waste even a second in there anymore. She went to their new apartment after going to the mall and changed her clothes, as she was afraid that someone was following her to know who she was. She had offended the people she had played with; thus, she didn’t want to risk anything.

She didn’t switch the light on, removed her heels, and started walking softly, afraid of waking up her aunt. She wondered what excuse her aunt had given her family, though.

Just as she walked up the stairs, the lights were switched on, making her turn around only to see her aunt seated on the couch.
