Chapter 43
She immediately held her breath, making the man halt as he wondered whether he had heard wrongly. To him, it was impossible to hold breath for so long. Though he was curious as to who it was, he decided to leave the person alone as he had saved their boss.
He turned around and went to his boss.
“Quick, let’s go. He needs to be checked,” he said as the men acted upon his order.
When they left, Scarlet got out and looked around the alley before walking away and stopping a cab that was passing by.
“Aunt, I am tired and have left. Please don’t look for me,” Scarlet texted Sophia so that she wouldn’t be worried about her.
“Why did Scarlet go?” Brooke asked when she didn’t see the latter after even searching for her everywhere.
“Maybe she got tired and left,” Angela said as she knew better than they that Scarlet wasn’t as she let them see. She still recalled everything that had happened at the mall. She was so sure that if she left, she must have had a good reason for it. She respected her privacy, and she would help her when she needed it, as she was also scheming against her.
Samantha and Brooke stared at Angela as they had never seen her defending anyone and were curious what had happened.
“I lost today. I'd better go home and sleep before my uncle shows up at home,” Angela told them as she left them,
When Sophia saw Scarlet’s texts, she frowned and looked around. She knew that since they had bought an apartment, the chances that Scarlet was there were higher than being at the Jenkins mansion.
However, when she was on the way, she saw the largest casino and her eyes lit up. She asked the driver to take her to the mall.
She bought some men's clothes, makeup, and changed into them. She applied makeup on her face till she looked like a young man who had a beard. When she saw herself in the mirror, she smirked as she thought that no one could even see her shadow.
She took a taxi to the casino. Cause she was walking majestically and the aura on her screamed nobility, the security guards didn’t stop her at all. She felt like screaming with happiness, but she understood that she had to keep her calm.
“Welcome, sir,” a staff member walked towards her.
“Thank you,” she said in a deep voice as she had a voice changer.
In the past, she had John and Dylan talk about the casinos. This casino had been open for a year, but after the railway was built and attracted more people, the casino attracted more rich people. She knew the ins of the casino, thus how she behaved without being led by anyone made all the staff think that she was a regular there.
She went to the fifth floor and saw some men playing blackjack, poker, pool, baccarat, and craps while being accompanied by women.
She glanced around, walked towards the machine, and bought two million chips. This move attracted the people who were playing nearby. They glanced at each other and smirked as they felt that such a young man didn’t know the rules or even how to play anything. He seemed to be a newcomer.
“Hei, young man, do you want to join us?” a man said, making Scarlet, whose eyes were still on the machine, smirk.
She turned around, stared at them before walking to them. She dragged the empty chair and sat on it.
“Bring it on, guys. Hey, get me a drink,” she told the waiter who was standing beside them in case they needed anything.
“So, kid. We are playing with ten thousand chips,” a man said, and Scarlet nodded.
She had tested herself and knew that since her rebirth, she was a fast learner.
In the first five games, she lost continuously, making the man laugh. When she lost the first one, they added another ten thousand; as she lost, they added the chips. By the end of it, she had lost nearly two hundred thousand.
“Why don’t we play with one hundred?” she asked them, making the men glance at each other as they tried to hide their smiles. They wanted to make her lose money, so how could they refuse?
Scarlet played as she drank the wine that had been brought, seeming not to be serious about how she was playing. She won it, stunning the men. They looked at her, but when they saw how she was behaving, they thought that she had been just lucky. There were seven people at that table, so she had gotten the chips she had lost back, plus four hundred extra.
“Two hundred thousand?” a man asked Scarlet, who was busy sipping her wine. She raised her eyebrows and nodded slowly.
They wanted to win back what they had lost. Though they knew it wasn’t enough, they thought that they could start doing it slowly. Still, they lost, making them angry as they were aware that when Scarlet started, she didn’t know the game, but now, she kept winning, and they couldn’t believe it.
“A million,” another man said as he gritted their teeth. Scarlet stared at him, then glanced at the others. When she saw they were angry, she knew what was going on in their heads.
“Let’s do it then, but don’t blame me when you lose it too,” Scarlet said, though she was so happy inwardly.
If she won that, she would have earned more than seven million.
They kept adding chips when they lost every time. By the time they had played the tenth round, they had lost more than thirty-six million.
This attracted everyone who was in the room, as they had never seen anyone lose so much money.
“Tired? Should we stop there?” she asked the men with a smirk on her face as she wanted to irritate them.
The man glared at her, but just when they were about to speak, someone walked towards them.
“Excuse me, our boss wants to see you,” a burly man said as he stood in front of Scarlet, making her frown.
“It better be for a good reason, not letting me earn more money,” she said coldly as she took all the chips with her.
People started murmuring as they thought that she was fearless, but at the same time naïve for not knowing what was good for her.
Scarlet was led towards the seventh floor. When she was let into the office, she stood and looked around it before walking towards the window and looking outside. She nodded as she liked such scenes. She was so envious of the man.
She then walked towards the boss and sat opposite him.
“What do you want?” she asked coldly, and the man just stared at her coldly.
“You came to my territory and started behaving like it's yours,” the man replied as he tapped his armchair.
“I just needed money, so I played fairly and square. Don’t tell me that you feel pain parting with that small amount,” she said, making the man chuckle darkly.
“You will return the chips and fuck off from my territory,” he said, and Scarlet shook her head.
“Naaah. That’s not going to happen. What if we play a game, whoever wins, will do as the other party wants? What do you think?” she said as she stared at the man, and the man was staring at her coldly.
He had watched everything and knew that she didn’t know how to play the games.
“Five rounds, whoever wins more is the winner. If you lose, you return the chips and walk away with nothing, but I will be merciful and return your two million chips,” he said.
“Okay. But let's agree on something, if I win, it will mean that I won the previous games fairly and the money belongs to me. As for the best of what I want. I want twenty percent shares of this casino,” Scarlet said with a smile on her face.
“Are you crazy?” the man standing beside them shouted.
“I am talking to your boss and not you, so please shut up,” Scarlet said coldly as she glanced at the man before looking at the man seated opposite her.
“What do you think?”
