Chapter 45
“Uhm, when did you arrive?” she asked her as she walked towards her.
“When I arrived isn’t an issue. Scarlet, why did you come late?” Sophia asked as she was worried that if Scarlet got used to coming late, something might happen to her.
Scarlet handed her the envelope that she had been holding, making her aunt stare at her before taking the envelope. She took out the document and started reading.
“La Vita Club?” Sophia asked as she didn’t know of that club.
“Aunt, you can search it and know about it. Anyway, it is ours. Oh, I will transfer it to you tomorrow. You know those people, how they are,” Scarlet said. Even without mentioning who she was speaking about, Sophia knew it very well.
“There is no need. We will just keep your identity hidden. We are only hiding for two months after that, we won’t have to worry about these things,” Sophia said, making Scarlet nod her head.
“We will visit the club tomorrow. It earns tens of millions in a week, so it has sorted out one of our issues on where to get money,” Scarlet said as she yawned.
“Scar, where did you get this property?” Sophia asked as she glanced at the papers in her hands, feeling like a hot potato.
“I won. I was at the casino. Aunt, please don’t get angry, but I was just trying to see who knew that I would win seventy million and a club, mmh? I promise, I will never go there anymore,” Scarlet hurriedly apologized and promised as she didn’t want to anger her aunt.
Sophia was stunned. “Aren’t you afraid that they are fake?” she asked.
“He won’t dare. I will expose him,” Scarlet said as she smirked.
The man had run away from his country cause he wanted to prove to his family that he could do something good without his family’s backing. At the same time, the man wanted to expand their business in the country. If she were to expose him, he would be in trouble with his family, the wealthy families in the country.
“Aunt, should we buy some other houses? I think we can buy phases two and three. We bought phase 1 for twenty-one million. As phase two, an apartment costs four hundred and fifty thousand, so we can use twenty million in it, and as phase three, nineteen million. We will remain with thirty-one million. Five million will be used on the fabric and furniture of your brand,” Scarlet said.
“You should first think of which company to work with or people to employ to start working on the houses,” Sophia interrupted her.
“I have already spoken to Mr Gibson. I will give him till Monday. If he doesn’t reach out, we will find another person. Mr Gibson is the owner of the company that the taxi driver had been talking about. I met him at the party, spoke to him, and gave him my card. Aunt, I offered him a twenty percent share. Is it okay?” she asked, as she had not consulted before making the decision.
“I understand you did this so that he can’t change companies in the future. I support you. I don’t know what time your godparents would be arriving tomorrow,” Sophia said, feeling bothered.
“Aunt, we don’t have those old employees’ contacts, hmmh? We can meet with them tomorrow night or on Sunday so that we can have everything ready by Monday. The brand studio we bought just needs a bit of decoration, and we can do that as you guys design outfits. By the time the outfits are in public, the studio will also be completed,” Scarlet said, making Sophia nod as she thought that it was a good plan.
“We can wake up tomorrow morning, go buy the apartments before godparents arrive. If they leave cause of anything, then we will meet those old employees before going to the club at night. To see how it is at night and how the employees work,” Scarlet said, making Sophia stare at her.
“How are you sure that they will leave?” Sophia asked, making Scarlet grin on her face.
“The heavens are always on my side,” Scarlet said as she planned to make them leave and, at the same time, make them hand her mother’s shares to her voluntarily.
“Aunt, goodnight,” Scarlet said as she yawned before walking to the stairs hurriedly, as she didn’t want her aunt to ask her any other question, she might give herself out.
“Keep the papers safely,” she shouted, making Sophia shake her head at how she didn’t care about the property documents. However, she understood that it was just because Scarlet trusted her so much.
Scarlet sighed and walked to her study desk. She had ordered a new laptop while they were in the house. She started typing hurriedly, hacking into the Whites Group silently without even alerting the IT guys. She didn’t want them to feel something wasn’t right till she was done.
She didn’t want her godparents to come tomorrow, but wanted them to go back after seeing her. If she alerted them, the Whites might not show up tomorrow, making her become her family’s laughingstock and making them believe that she didn’t have any backing.
She went through all the projects on hand. The projects they wanted to bid on, and also the business plans. It took her more than three hours to go through everything. She then made a decision and installed a few viruses on a few plans and presentations.
She had checked when they were needed. Also, as long as it is discovered when the Whites had already started the journey, the IT manager will opt to try saving the documents before calling the boss. They will only call if they fail in doing so. She smiled, feeling proud of herself as she had been afraid that her skills had deteriorated, but she was mistaken.
She checked on the stocks she had bought, wanting to see how it was coming up. She had bought stocks she knew that would earn her quick cash within a few hours, a day, or two. She withdrew the cash she had gotten from the few companies and bought other stocks in different domestic companies with the money earned. After feeling satisfied, she took some blank papers and started working on the apartment designs.
She wanted to design the designs to be made in the apartments bought. As someone who lived in the future, she knew the future designs and what the customers would feel satisfied with. She also drew some designs on the open rooms and the compound. She wanted her premises to be one of a kind, not only in their city but also in the capital.
She yawned and looked at the clock on the wall. Seeing it was already one, she arranged her desk before walking towards the bed.
“Dad, do you believe what they said at the banquet?” Ann asked her father, who glanced at her.
“Dad, you never mentioned that Scarlet had a maternal family. What is going on?” John asked as he frowned, thinking that everything was suspicious.
“I really don’t know. However, every month, both Scarlet and Sophia would receive gifts from Martin,” Mr Jenkins said, then frowned when he thought of something.
“Can Martin be her biological uncle? But why did he not cause any chaos when he discovered that they had been chased away?” Mrs Jenkins asked as she thought of the same thing her husband had.
“I don’t know. That woman rarely told me about such matters. Sophia never kept her belongings in the house. They were always kept in the central back. You know, you can store properties there, too. Scarlet had always been gifted with things like shops, apartments, and villas, while Sophia had practical things. That was why I never suspected that they were of so much value. At that time, I disdained those items and even laughed at her, claiming that she wasn’t loved as my daughter, who knew,” Mr Jenkins said unhappily.
“If Shanaya loved you and saw you as her husband, she would have told you the items' value. Now, Sophia had her hands on those items, and it's impossible to get them,” Mrs Jenkins said, making Mr Jenkins glare at her as he hated being told that.
He knew of it and didn’t want someone always reminding him. That was one of the reasons he had cheated on the woman, cause she never respected him or even shared anything with him. It was like housemates, which he disliked.
“What we need to know is that the properties on Sophia’s hands aren’t small. We need to think of a way to get them into our hands,” John said coldly, interrupting his mother when she was about to speak. When she saw the glare she was being given.
Hearing his words, the family glanced at each other, everyone thinking of how.
“What if we get rid of her?”
