Chapter 32
“Hello, welcome to Skylight Spa,” the receptionist said when she saw them coming in. She didn’t have any disdain cause of how they looked.
“Hello, we are here for a skin treatment,” Scarlet said with a smile on her face.
“Okay, wait a minute. I have never seen you here. You can apply for a membership card for our shop, it has its own privileges,” the receptionist started advocating their shop, making Scarlet chuckle.
“Sorry, but we are already members,” Scarlet said, making the receptionist frown as she wondered how there could be dark skinned customers like them, and she had never seen them.
“You can search for Scarlet Jenkins and Sophia Singhs on your members' website,” Scarlet said, stunning them.
“Scar, what are you talking about?” Sophia asked in a low voice that only the two could here.
“Relax,” Scarlet told her aunt before looking at the receptionist, who was staring at them. She found the names familiar but couldn’t recall where she had heard or seen those names.
Seeing how confident Scarlet looked, she lowered her head and started typing on the laptop.
She had just searched one name, but both names topped up. When she saw them, she instantly recalled that when she had started working here, she had been informed that those two were VVIPs and when they showed up, the boss she be contacted.
Later on, she learned that one was the young miss of the Jenkins daughter while the other was the Jenkins late madam’s sister. They had been chased out of the Jenkins family, but their boss still believed that they would one day return. It seemed that their boss was right.
She didn’t talk to Scarlet or Sophia; she just hurriedly turned towards the phone and called the boss.
“Hello,” the lady answered the call.
“Madam, the two VVIPs have shown up,” the receptionist said, stunning Sophia, but Scarlet just looked as if she had expected that.
The person on the other side was stunned, and the fashion magazine that was in her hands fell down.
“What’s wrong?” the person with her asked.
“Is it true?” the lady asked the receptionist, her voice trembling. “Are you sure it is really Scarlet and Sophia?” she asked once more, not giving the receptionist a chance to speak.
“Madam, their skins are so dark, and it is impossible to say. However, they told me that they are members and told me their names,” the receptionists answered, making the woman stand, take her handbag, and leave.
“Okay, okay. Call Africanna and Betsy tell them to service those two. As for the products to use, tell them that the products are in my office, they should get them,” the lady said as she hurriedly walked towards her car.
Her eyes were filled with tears.
“Mom, why are you crying? Did something happen?” the young lady with her asked in panic.
“Dear mom won’t accompany you to school to complete the procedures. I have something important to do,” the lady said, and the young lady shook her head.
“Mom, that’s not important right now. I will accompany you,” the young lady said as she got in her mother’s car. The lady didn’t say anything when she heard that.
“Mom, can you tell me now what is happening?” the young lady asked once more.
“Your aunt Shanaya’s daughter and sister are back,” the lady said. The young lady was stunned.
Though she really couldn’t recall the people her mother mentioned, she often heard Shanaya’s words and deeds from her mother. She respected her so much and hated the Jenkins for bullying those two.
“It’s good they are back,” the young lady said, then lowered her head, falling deep in thought.
“When you see them, control yourself. I have been told that their skin is dark. You know what I am trying to say, right?” the lady warned her daughter, making the latter look up.
“I understand, Mom, you don’t have to worry about me. Their skins can get back to how they were. Haven’t you been working on products for them to use when they came back?” the young lady asked her mother.
“Mom, you hold those products highly and don’t want people to use them. You expected such a thing to happen, right?” the young lady replied, and the woman was surprised at how sharp her daughter was.
“Those products. They were made according to Shanaya’s preferences. I guess she expected such a thing to happen. Let’s see how they will act. Then we can ask Scarlet whether she wants to put them on the market, and we will be giving her the profit shares,” the woman said, making her daughter shake her head.
“Mom, if Aunt was the one who made them, then we shouldn’t get so greedy to use them for our own benefits. Let them only be used on the two,” the young lady said, but she knew her mother was hiding something from her.
“Mom, even if those products can make their skin brighter, it won’t make their skin color known, right?” the young lady said when she thought of something she had overheard.
“Not all products. Your aunt… Just let it be, maybe one day you will understand. Where I am is because of her. Actually, most of those products, the recipes were given to her. She was also my first customer and who trusted me fully,” the lady said as she smiled.
Most people didn’t know why she respected Shanaya, even her own family. The young lady didn’t say anything and just remained silent.
Scarlet, on the other hand, looked at the products that were brought out and took them one by one to read them.
In her past life, it took her one year before she came to this spa. She was taken to a spa by Ann and her mother. Though her skin brightened, it was just slightly, thus many people believed that her skin was dark. After she came here, she recalled the products that were used on her, but they didn’t bring out her skin color. After knowing of her mother’s identity, she became suspicious of the products.
In this life, she wanted to stay true to herself. She didn’t have any products that could hide her skin color, change her hair, or eyes to fit in.
“Use this product on me and this one on my aunt,” she said as she handed two bottles to the lady who was standing opposite her.
The latter was stunned, “But miss…” she started saying, but when Scarlet looked at her, she shut her mouth.
“Let’s start,” Scarlet said, and Sophia frowned.
“Scarlet, that product,” Sophia said, but Scarlet shook her head, interrupting her.
“Aunt, I just want to stay true to myself. Also, by just being me, will I feel closer to mom? Do you understand?” Scarlet told her aunt, making Sophia stare at her.
“Aunt, please,” Scarlet begged her aunt, making Sophia sigh.
“You know that this will make your father…” Sophia didn’t complete her words, but Scarlet understood what she was trying to say.
“Mom had the same skin color, I just took after her,” Scarlet said as she recalled when she was young. There was once a time she was much fairer, but later on, her skin started darkening slightly, and she never understood.
After reading the products, she understood everything and was so sure that the product she had rejected was the one that had always been used on her when she was young.
“Okay,” Sophia said, though she felt restless. She couldn’t even understand what was wrong.
“Where are they?” The boss walked in hurriedly after half an hour, as she had been at the mall, which was a bit far from her shop.
“They are in the room. Boss, why not wait till they are done?” her secretary said.
“Contact the salonist to come here,” the boss said as she agreed to her secretary’s words.
